Got out, found an entrance gate. The gate didnt have any dog park rules sign and it was locked. In the center of the dog run area was orange construction netting forming a wall that went around the dog tunnels and agility area. Then I went to the lot on the other side of the park. That looks like it has a paved path. So Im thinking you park by the 756 building, walk up the paved path.?? By that time I was frustrated and over going to the dog park and decided to go home. We were sad. It looks like it was a quality dog park if you can get your dog inside it. It could benefit from a bit of directional signage. Oh well.

There are two large fenced in areas, one for dogs 25 pounds or less (Oatie's area) and the other for dogs 25 pounds or more. Both have shaded areas and sunny areas with benches and play equipment. Since both areas are fenced in, dogs can run freely. Oatie loves chasing other dogs and being chased over grassy hilly areas. GODOWN dog park is a 5 minute drive from my daughter's townhouse complex so when visiting I take Oatie to the park often. This park is very popular so I have never visited the park with at least one other dog being present. Other dog owners here seem to be caring and dog lovers, as well.

Each side of the two parks have a double gated pass through, poop bag dispensers, and trash cans. Both sides have benches and plenty of trees to provide shade. Folks here are generally friendly. It's a pretty popular dog park. We've never been here when there weren't dogs for our dog to play with. (Unlike some of the other parks we've visited in the Columbus area.) There's a spigot near the entrances beside the portajohn. Great for a quick rinse off of a muddy dog or for filling up the communal water jugs that you find on both sides of the dog parks.

You can walk, run or bike just watch out for the walnuts and wet leaves in the fall. Besides very well maintained pathways there's a lot of nature. For you bird lovers this is amazing place to watch birds. Bring the kids and the dogs! There's a log cabin which you can't get into but is fun to look at and read a little about it's history. There are several bridges over clean streams. Another fantastic local park for photographers from beginners to professionals to take some amazing pictures. Other people whom I encountered along the way were friendly and kind. It made for a lovely walk!

One section will take you past the historic Fleming cabin with an interpretative sign. There is a very nice newly replaced boardwalk/pier at the pond, which offers some seating and picnic tables, and lets you enjoy the view. The water is a bit low right now - I'm not sure if they have a way to manipulate the depth that was adjusted while the pier was being rebuilt, or if it just happens to be low right now. If you go all the way out to the bench area, you can still get a nice view of the filled up portion of the pond, however. Vernal pools also appear throughout the year. A nice place to take a walk or go for a jog!

One of our dogs does great with other people but not so hot with other dogs. Because of this she never gets to go to a dog park. This was her first time being able to run free in a larger than yard size area and she loved it! It has a nice shelter house to keep you out of the sun. The pond edges are shallow enough the dogs can wade in and you can stand in the water as well. You bring your own poop bags and chairs and toys but there were lots of balls scattered around. I highly recommend!!

I have two girls and one is dog reactive and the other has a noisy play style so traditional dog parks aren't an option for us. Mutt's is a private dog park that you pay for by the hour to have the entire place to yourself. I couldn't believe it when I heard it! It is $10/hr per dog and you have the entire place to yourself. There's a pond, a paddle boat, a little shelter area for shade, an agility course, a human bathroom (porta pot), and all the space needed to run your dog ragged. The park owner is quick to respond when booking and always has poop bags, water, and toys for the pups. We always take our own, but it's nice to know he has some as well. You can book longer than an hour at a time, but our girls go hard quick so an hour is sufficient. The only down side is that we live in downtown Columbus and it's on the north side of Delaware so it's about 45 mins one way. But it really is worth it!

Deer Haven shares an entrance with neighboring Havener Park. If you pass the first parking lot,…read morewhich is the lot for Havener, and head to the right, you'll find the lot for Deer Haven near its great visitor center. Around the exterior of the building is a native plant pollinator garden near bird feeders and an insect hotel. There are also box turtles behind the building during warm weather. Another wonderful new feature in this area is the Deer Haven Aviary, which showcases a variety of birds of prey that cannot be returned to the wild. Signage indicates that the birds will rotate out in conjunction with Ohio Nature Education (ONE). On our visit, we were able to view turkey vultures, red-tailed hawks, and red-shouldered hawks. A great aspect of Deer Haven is that it is a great way to view a variety of habitats close together: wetland, meadow, pond, and forest are connected through the three trails, Tree Swallow Trail, Bent Tree Ridge Trail & Creek Crossing, and Grass Trail. Both the Tree Swallow and Grass Trails also connect to Havener Park trails, so you can extend your explorations. There is currently a neat science exhibit available in the park. We found a fascinating one in the wetland area, in which a mini wetland is available in a case to be examined by a magnifying glass, with an identification key for different critters available. There is also a magnifying glass stand so that you can place things you find, like rocks or plants, inside of the post to examine. Fun place to visit!

The drive back to the vc is not that impressive and a little disappointing but don't be fooled! This park has 97 acres that is filled with 3 trails, a Bird sacturary, natural play area and much more. the Bent Tree Ridge Trail has a wildlife blind that overlooks the pond that allows you to view ducks, and other water fowl. The vc has a really nice nature library that is filled with books, toys for children. There are large water tanks with turtles, frogs, snakes etc. The main room is filled with stuffed wild life animals. The animals are all labeled and there is lots of info about these animals to read about. Bring your binoculars, or grab a loaner pair and look out the windows and see all the birds at the feeders. If you cant figure out what bird you are looking at there are birding books to help with identification.

A small but absolutely lovely preserve. Quite a bit of it is wooded, making it an especially nice…read morechoice for a hot, sunny day. The trail system is small within the park, and includes two approximately 1/2 mile trails, the Woodland Ridge Trail that stays in the forest, and the Pinegrove Trail, which takes you through more woods and some meadow-like sections. It also offers a wildlife blind to view a blind, with birds, turtles, and more wildlife to see. You can easily combine the two trails by crossing the bridge located over the ravine, which is an extremely popular location for pictures. Near the parking area is a nature center, which has a lovely garden out front. The staff is extremely friendly and will chat and provide information. On our most recent visit, we got a heads-up about a pair of active ospreys viewable from the Alum Creek Osprey Overlook just up the road, which can be hiked/biked from Hogback Ridge if you want to extend your hike/jog/ride. This is normally a very quiet preserve, but we found a big cycling event going on during our most recent visit that seemed to be running out of the park. We still found parking and everyone was very friendly - a couple of the cyclists made sure we knew about the ospreys. Great place to visit!
