Can't rave enough about the Pacer Inn and how fantastic it is! We stay here every year we come visit family for the holidays and I am so grateful to them and their consistent excellence! The rooms are always well maintained, clean, bigger than expected, and super comfortable. We discovered the family suite (complete with jacuzzi tub!!) this trip and may have to get it every time, it's so gorgeous! Lastly, the people couldn't be friendlier; they are always so helpful, considerate, and kind, even when there's only one on shift. This inn may not look like much from the outside, but I absolutely recommend it 100% to anyone staying in Delaware. I definitely recommend this place. Don't discount it because it's outdated. Who cares what pattern is on the carpet and comforter. Visit Delaware a couple times a year. I've stayed in other chain hotel but ended up at Pacer this time because the other was full. Thank goodness!! Pacer will be my go to from now on!! The hospitality makes up for what's lacking in appearance. I had a king room. The room was GINORMOUS! The bed was comfortable. No complaints from me. The WiFi is complimentary and worked w/o issue. I didn't partake in breakfast so I can't comment on that. The owners are so kind. Every time I saw him and he'd always ask if I needed anything. The AC was cold. While the staff were perfectly friendly, I wasn't that impressed with Pacer. The first thing I noticed was that the fitted sheet for my bed barely made it across the mattress, and only came about 4 inches down the mattress. I seriously think it was the wrong size sheet for the bed. It was also put on inside out. Second, the mattress felt like it was either worn out to the point that it had become rock hard, or that it was installed being ultra firm. I suspect the former, since a pillow topper had been installed over the mattress, and I could feel springs poking me. The problem is that an aftermarket pillowtop does almost nothing to make up for a hard mattress. You either need to invest in a memory foam topper, or (better yet) replace the mattress. The blanket was scratchy, and the sheets were only somewhat better. The bathroom had what appear to be fit and finish issues with the tile caused either by the building settling or poor installation. The continental breakfast was decent, but only decent. It was individually packaged pastries, fruit, make it yourself oatmeal, bagels, etc. when I saw a fridge labeled jucies, the first thing I noticed was that juices had been misspelled. The second was that instead of the customary small single serving sized bottles/boxes of juice that most places have, there was just one large and already open bottle of OJ in there. Weird. Now, like I said the staff were very nice. And the place was clean. It just didn't have enough going for it for me to recommend it. read more

I stayed in this hotel for the first time in 1989 and most recently in 2020. Okay, if you're looking for a posh upscale hotel in a cool area the Pacer Inn is probably not for you. If you want to support small local businesses with clean and well-decorated rooms and super nice staff, come give them a try. It's small, cheap, convenient and recently remodeled. Let me start off by saying I've been a travel agent for 22 years and I deal with hotels on a daily basis. Most hotel managers are super nice and go above and beyond to assist travelers and are able to do it with a nice and pleasant tone. I called Pacer Inn & Suites last Monday (9/26/22) to alter my reservation from 2 nights down to 1 for this weekend, and the gentleman that answered the phone says "I can't help you because you booked it online". I booked it on Pacer Inn & Suites website, and when I explained this he again says (in a rude tone) "I can't help you". I was really baffled and remained calm and told him I worked in the travel industry and I'd never had a hotel speak to me like that, and he said "then go stay somewhere else". In shock I questioned did her really want me to go stay somewhere else, and again he says "just go stay somewhere else". I kindly said I will cancel my reservation and write him a nice review on Google and Yelp, and he says "make sure to write me one on TripAdvisor too!" Well now my jaw dropped and so did my husbands. I hung up the phone and we sat there baffled and laughing. I cancelled my reservation (online because I guess I had no choice but to go that route), and 20 minutes later, the same guy calls me back and says "I don't want you to have a bad experience with my hotel and I'd like to offer you to stay for free.". WHAT? Are you kidding me?? I said not a chance in H*LL and hung up. I'm questioning if he's really the owner, and not the owner's son. Several bad reviews mention "the owner's son". My advice is to go stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sunbury because it's only about 10 minutes away and a lot nicer and a lot more modern. Why risk that guy is the one checking you in, or helping you when there's an issue. read more

I just checked in this cozy little hotel, so this isn't a full review. I just couldn't wait to post how friendly they are here. The person working behind the counter called us to do a courtesy call to see when we would be arriving. So personal compared to the other hotels we've been to. They have security cameras everywhere and all doors are locked to make us feel safer. The rooms have tons of character. So quaint and so different from the rest. Hopefully the rest of our stay is as great as we are expecting it to be. read more

This is a wonderful property. Attached to a great Mexican restaurant. This hotel is NEWLY and tastefully renovated. The mattresses were brand new and very comfortable. The rooms were large and very very clean. The owner and staff are the best I have come across. The town is full of great charm and character. The room and the public areas were spotlessly clean and pleasant. The front desk and housekeeping personnel were friendly and cheerful. The bed was comfortable and I enjoyed being able to open my window to a green, lovely backyard area. I had a restful stay and I would recommend this inn to anyone who is visiting the area. You are missing out on a great stay if you choose a different hotel than this one. * Housekeeping is perfect. * The location is convenient. * Most of the rooms are oversized. * Basic but delicious breakfast. * Management is obsessed with making people happy. I requested one little thing which would make my experience better. It wasn't even something I expected. They bent over backwards to upgrade one of the hotel's features...just for me! I was looking for a travel stop on the way from Virginia to Michigan via West Virginia. Traveling with kids, this fit the bill. The room was actually larger than many of the chain hotels, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and included a mini refrigerator, flat screen TV and USB/AC charging station on the night stand, which was very thoughtful. The door locks appeared to be RFID activated and not magnetic stripe which made them more convenient. Breakfast was provided which included coffee, juice, milk, toast, bagels, granola bars, fresh fruit, cereal, danishes, yogurt, and probably something I forgot, but basically something for everyone. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars was because they charged me $25 for a roll-a-way bed, which was not disclosed on their web site. Even after that, they were still very reasonably priced, in a good, safe location, and provided good service. I would absolutely stay here again. read more

I am learning to not judge a book by its cover especially when it comes to hotels. I researched local hotels near a horse show we were attending and out of all of the big name places - the Pacer Inn had better reviews. Trusting people's opinion I booked it. They were right!! It is a charming hotel & the rooms were big & clean. Totally updated but has an old timey feel. Can't say much about breakfast because we slept so good we didn't get up till 10ish. There is no pool but no biggie on that. Within walking distance is a bunch of restaurants which was nice because I was tired of getting into construction. Book here - you will love it & love the horse theme. The front desk guy asked about pets - which they don't allow & I told him we didn't have one but maybe I would bring my horse in. He said - the horses are always welcome because that is what it was built for. Loved that response especially since we love our horses. Thank you!!! read more

I was very satisfied with my stay of one night at the Pacer Inn in March. This Inn is very close to restaurants and shops in Delaware so while I did find parking in the main part of town, if you want to walk it is very do-able. There is a terrific Mexican restaurant next door and the room was clean and quiet. I particularly appreciated the friendly staff, and one woman at the front desk who was especially gracious upon my check in. They were also very accommodating in allowing me to stay in my room a while past the regular check out time. If I ever need to be in the area again, I would not hesitate to stay here. read more
