Clean and more like a 5 star resort hotel. Beautiful place, flowers, staff. Staff was very accommodating.

It feels strange to give a review for a place where one spends their last moments, but as those moments are so valuable, it is important to highlight the great work that Delaware Hospice does. I spent the last several days of my father's life with him at Delaware Hospice, and I was beyond impressed at the care both he and our family received while there. The facility is beautiful, both inside and out. Every patient has a private room with a private bath, and there are patios and plenty of green space to walk around in or look out on. The rooms are of a large size, so there is ample space for loved ones to gather comfortably. The staff were warm and knowledgeable about my father's condition and what he did or did not need at different stages at his decline. I was really touched that we were allowed to bring in the family dog, who meant so much to my dad, to say goodbye. I don't think I am expressing myself well enough here to do this place justice, but I will say that I live out of state now and have thought to myself many times since my father's passing that I hope that when I am at the end of my life's journey I have an equally kind, warm, and understanding environment to take my last breaths in. I don't think they could do a better job. read more

As a nurse myself with over 30 years of​ experience, using this agency was ​a ​terrible experience. We used their home care hospice program and they provided little support or direction to my family during a truly difficult time. Would not recommend them. read more

Apparently, there are only 16 private suites, not 60 as I initially thought the receptionist said to me. Sixteen suites where patients can receive 24x7 care in an environment that feels just like home. Patients and families will love and appreciate this facility and welcome more in communities across the country. read more

My family member was in here for last weeks of his life and i can honestly say, his end of life care was horrific. As he was unable to use the bathroom, a friend heard a nurse yelling at him for peeing himself. We were not told when he was moved rooms, he constantly fell out of bed and left on floor. On his last day, i myself had asked if they felt the end was near due to him not being conscious or able to take liquids. If he was, i was going to spend the nights there too and was told 'hes 50, hes got a good heart'. He passed that night. His mom then received the call to say he had passed and could she come pick his body up?!?! I mean come on! I was sickened by this place. Please do not put your family members in this hell hole. read more

Incredibly kind care for my father both in our home and at the end of his life in the Hospice center. The hospice center is beautiful and the staff was empathetic and took wonderful care of my dad. read more

Horrible horrible horrible. The physician assistants / nurse practitioners and office staff are bad. No compassion and uncaring. They do have vendettas especially if they make a mistake and you catch it. If your loved one has to go in the center please stay with them, medication was given incorrectly (thankfully we caught it) several times.The field nurses are beyond belief in a good way! I would say 90% of the field staff go way above and beyond their duties. We can not give the field staff enough praise and compliments. Just watch out for the human snakes that work in the offices. If we only had to deal with the field staff I would recommend this hospice. Due to the office staff I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND Delaware Hospice to anyone. read more

Apparently DE does not have actual hospice in Sussex County. The government there has some people trying to deal with this. The minutes of a 2015 meeting seem to indicate that people who have an unstable home or are homeless do not qualify for true hospice. Our loved one was actually sent home within days of going in. Though he is dying. Beware, have a family to fight for you and plan way in advance! The nurses are very nice. But this facility is not hospice as you would expect in almost any other state. Based on lack of hospice care in DE, we will not be retiring to this state. And money was not an issue. He just needed hospice. read more
