So I went to this place 4 times in 4 weeks. I was told that it has good restaurant , poker games, roulette etc. It's a big casino with horse racing and golf. Coming to the casino part, I usually play all games, loss or profit, never felt cheated. But of all my 4 visits to this casino never gave me feeling of gaming on luck. I played few numbers for few hours on roulette. Few hundreds of spins. Of all few numbers, I played 5 particular numbers every spin. In all those hours, hundreds of spins, it didn't hit 0,00 or my numbers. Okay left with big loss. But that's part of gambling. Didn't get felt as cheated as it was first time and different casino. But it happened four times on every Saturday I went to this place. I was even surprised to see ball floating around, jumping to different number after landing well on a number, slow paced ball rotating for long time and more things. This was my first time here, and I was not overly impressed. As I was driving in, I was hopeful it would be a really nice casino because of how nicely the surrounding land was cared for, but it didn't really meet my expectations. The casino is a little outdated and doesn't really compare to some of the larger casinos you would find elsewhere. There are several places to eat (mostly cafes), and a few bars. The casino is mostly slots, although they do have a few table games (blackjack, craps, etc.). Table minimums on a Saturday night were $10. There weren't any free drinks, but there was a cart going around with drinks available for purchase. If you sign up for a player's rewards card, and you earn 5 points on your first visit, you are rewarded with between $25-$500 in free slot play. You also get coupons for free slot play on consecutive visits ($25 on second visit, $50 on third visit, and $100 on third visit). If you are looking for a little fun while in the area, I guess this place would be alright. But if you are looking for a glitzy casino, this isn't the place. No matter how many times I stop by this casino, I can not get a clear bead on if I like as anything more than a sports book and race track. And even then, I can not figure out whether I like it as that. This casino has the utmost advantage over any other as being the closest one in Delaware to the Maryland state line (it is six miles or so across the border). Which means it is the closest place to place a bet on the Delaware Sports Lottery in an actual casino environment (which, maybe it's just me, makes me feel like less of a degenerate than placing it at a cigarette outlet store). Playing a quick three team parlay or two (especially a reverse teaser) on the way home from Atlantic City makes it a destination. However, it is really hard to win the parlays since it's hard enough to win a game with the line, let alone three. So you might as well be buying better educated lottery tickets. Still on a Saturday night, I love to bet on Sunday football to make every game interesting. Beyond that, and to finance my losing sports habit, they have the usual assortment of video poker and table games. I'm a bit taken back by their lack of a cheap blackjack table or two on Saturday night since the place is definitely less packed than other casinos along the I-95 corridor. Especially since they have $2 blackjack (with a .25 fee per hand so it's not worth playing for less than $5) on weekdays. There's $5 electronic blackjack and even texas hold 'em poker near the far entrance that's a bargain though. If there's a horse race, it's also a cheap bet. The best part of this casino though, even for non-gamblers, is they have legit northeastern brick over pizza at dirt cheap prices serving until late into the evening. After living in Delaware for 15 years, my boyfriend finally convinced me to check out Delaware Park for a nice dinner at the Race Legends restaurant followed by a little friendly gambling. The dinner: The service was by far the best I have had in a long time., which totally makes the experience in my opinion. Susan, our server, was extremely friendly and very helpful. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio from Italy and it was very tasty! My boyfriend ordered the Prime Rib, medium rare and it was cooked very well. He got a side order of creamed spinach and by golly it was THEE BEST creamed spinach i have ever tasted. I ordered the veal piccata with crab. It was probably the only downside of the dinner. It was a little bland and not what I envisioned a piccata dish to be. But I still enjoyed it. I would give the service and the creamed spinach a solid 5 out of 5. The casino: my boyfriend decided to play blackjack which was $15 a hand, we had seen it was $10 a hand but we believe they changed the cost around 9 pm. The floor was decently crowded which was good! He played for about 45 mins and it was a hot table! The dealers and other guests were so friendly. Over time, you do lose because "the house" has shaved points or jiggered results to ensure that they always win even when you win. Ever wonder why you get paid 30:1 on snake eyes when they are actually a 36:1 set of odds? Where's your $6? The food is way over priced as well - but the one redeeming factor is that the alcohol gets a decent pour if you sweet talk the ladies and wave a few extra bucks in tip. I was at the blackjack table with 2 of my friends where I was asked by the dealer if I would be joining my companions in the game and I responded not right now I would like to observe and try to learn. The dealer asked me to stand up because I was not playing, which I did. Afterwards the dealer and 2 other employees came to me and requested I stand back 6ft from the table, which I also complied to. We found this place by accident while stopping in Newark for a rest after a long trip. It was less than 10 minutes from the hotel and pretty easy to find. The good news, the slot machines were very generous and we were able to play for about 4 hours and came home with double our money. Of course, it is all just luck, but we had fun. I would caution folks traveling alone since there is no real security inside the casino. At least no security that was obvious to us. My favorite, the ice cream. My first gambling experience...ok that's not true I've been to vegas, ok my first horse race gambling experience and it was a lot of fun. Went with the family and my uncle does betting for a living (sports statistics) so he was helpful. The whole process of placing the bet for me was scary but turned out to be quite easy. I only bet on 3 races and then just enjoyed the rest of the day. The grand stands where you watch the race is really large seating probably in the few hundreds? Not sure exactly but there's plenty of seats. When we went there it wasn't busy at all and the place was clean. I'm betting that if you were to go when it's busy you'd probably find an assortment of peanut shells and other trash about but I didn't run into that. inside the buiding where you place your bet is pretty nice and there's an area where you can watch different tracks and even bet on those other tracks so you're not limited to just Delaware which I thought was neat. This casino is a little (ok, a lot) on the shabby side compared to others; however it appeared they were in the middle of updating the slots. Some of the slots wouldn't accept our players card and others wouldn't accept our vouchers but that should be resolved once they finish replacing the units. The dining choices were disappointing, one full service restaurant with limited choices and two "sandwich type" shops that were overpriced. Bathrooms were clean but in need of an update. Finding a server for drinks is challenging, although they did have a self serve beverage station but that area smelled of mold. Overall worth the trip because we got back in comps what we spent, but if that was not the case we would go elsewhere. read more

This place is pretty wretched. Decor is extremely dated (70s throwback), the machines and gaming tables look like they're from the same era too, and it reeked of stale smoke and mildew. We were there for a little over an hour, killing time between New Year's Eve events on a bitterly cold night. There was a long line for coat check, an even longer line for player's cards (required), and the coffee shop was closed. The staff was helpful and friendly, but the overall atmosphere was of chaos. There was a live band, which wasn't bad, but extremely loud in an already loud environment. Good luck having a conversation at that end of the casino. Drinks and menu items over-priced. Security is god awful. First this little older gentleman tells me backpacks aren't allowed. I point out I've been there over a hour, came through the main door and even waited at the counter for a new card with my backpack I tell him I'll leave with my mom. He repeats. It was summer of 2002. I had 2 children under 6. We wanted to have a family outing with my dad and his wife, who the kids call Baba. " How bout we all go to Deleware Park?" my dad suggested. Baba is a huge horse enthusiast and they spend alot of time at Deleware Park. I was imagining the movie version of my perception of race tracks, swarthy men in fedoras, drinking and smoking, throwing their crumpled papers away when they lose, finding the nearest floozie when they win. ( or at the very least a small black orphan boy, who lives in a locker at a train station, who can "see" the horse race winners in the paper..DANCING DOLL, FISH DREAM, LATEST SONG.......*anyone who knows the name of the movie im referencing gets mad credit with me.) wow im "off track" here. Either way my response was not pretty, " DAD, im NOT taking these kids to a racetrack on a Sunday outing!" ,I snapped " Trust me, its nice there" he reassured Out of a lack of an alternative, and also a curiosity of possibly seeing a real live floozie, we went. From our place in Delco, it took about 45 min. Not too bad. It was easy to find, there was a massive parking lot. I immediately saw that most of my perceptions were wrong.It was free to get in. they had a beautiful park area that was very family friendly. They had pony rides and inflatable bounce and slide things for the kids ( and its all for free) They have a nice playground and picnic area with volleyball court and you can bring a non-gas grill to BBQ. i dont think outside alcohol is allowed in but they have outdoor snackbars with beer on tap. If the kids like horsies they can look at the racehorses on the paddock or watch the races that go every 1/2 hour or so. The inside is air-conditioned, with numberous bathrooms. There are snack bars, bars and restraunts. If you are into it, there are Slot Machines and video poker. Overall, the initial experience was so good, weve gone back every summer since as often as we can. You can have a fun filled day for almost no money at all. But wait, Im not naive, i realize that they do all these great things so we will gamble more. But as long as you are not a gambling addict, you should be ok. Unfortunately, I had to eat crow and apologize to my dad for poo-pooing his idea, and he doesnt let me forget it either. I've been going to Delaware Park for years, and it's a pretty decent establishment. They have slots (penny, .02 cent, nickel, quarter, .50 cent, $1, $2, $5, $10, $25, $50 and $100 denominations), table games (blackjack, poker, roulette, craps), horse racing (live racing during the warmer months, simulcasts all year round) & sports betting (NFL only, 3 or more game parlay bets). They have good food at On A Roll Deli upstairs (I strongly recommend the turkey club or cheesesteak), at Rooney's Deli downstairs (all sandwiches are pretty good, but a little more expensive than On A Roll), and, suprisingly, the pizza in the horse racing/sports betting area is good (when it's fresh!). During football games, they usually have some good food and beer specials! And sometimes on Saturday's they'll have beer specials during the day. They have valet parking, and they also have a shuttle that'll pick you up from the designated stops in the parking area. Delaware Park is open 24 hours/day. No smoking is allowed inside, but there are plenty of outdoor smoking areas throughout the building. If you go late night, I would recommend parking in the front lot (the entrance from route 7/route 1 - the one that you would likely park at if you were coming from I-95). The back exit (from route 58 and route 4) and the Kirkwood Highway exit both lead to lots that have a lot less security. I've heard multiple stories of robberies happening in the back lot at night. The machines only spit out tickets - no coins. My few complaints: The table games are VERY crowded during the evenings and weekends. Parking is awful on the weekends. I usually just go for the furthest away parking spot I can find rather than hunt for a close one. And if you find a close one, you'll have 5 cars stalking you for the spot when you pull out. I have just been introduced to horse betting and I must say I pretty much love. The awesome names of the horses "Reason to Drink", "Silver Goblin", "Teddy Bear Bow Tie" etc, the colors of each horse "I'm going to pick pink!" and the $2 minimum bet make me swoon. Delaware Park is awesome because it is thoroughbred horse racing but its also a casino. There really isn't a theme, after all this isn't AC or Vegas but its still fun. You can still win some big $$$$, my dad walked out of there with over $200 in winnings from the craps table. You can hang out in the stands or they also offer the grove, which is an area where you can bring your whole family (even kids) and bring in your own food and drink and picnic for the day while watching horses. Delegate Park is my favorite local casino. At less than two hours from BOWIE I enjoy Delaware Park so much better than any Maryland Casino. DP has the most welcoming atmosphere and you're excite on entry. DP has loads of slot machines, more than enough tables for each of the table games, sports book betting and an active horse racing racetrack to boot. I play the table games, usually craps, four card poker and roulette. The table area is well lit, the dealers are friendly, and the tables aren't packed shoulder to shoulder with gamblers. A master gambler technician like myself has room to operate. Lol. Also DP offers enough tables were the minimum bet is low enough that you don't have to lose your shirt when you're just out for a fun time. Two words: Sports Betting Specifically NFL games. This place is great because it's like a Sports bar on steroids come Sundays during Football season. My first visit was great because I could bet on games from two locations on the far end of the building. The third floor was less-populated and featured enough TV's to satisfy me. The place itself is quite nice. It's like a fraction of a casino you'd find in Atlantic City. Plenty of slots to make one happy but not enough blackjack, poker or roulette tables. Still, it fits the bill for a gambler who doesn't want to travel to AC. And if you love to bet on Football or horses or course, it's great. Access to the track seating is available if you want to step outside. They even show a game on the big screen outdoors. The food is OK. Rather limited and you have to search for mixed drinks. Probably a good idea though because liquor + gambling + football = violence if your not careful. My company had an outing there and there was about 14 of us in attendance. We went to the Del Cap restaurant for lunch. My company spent a lot of money for substandard food and mediocre service. The Food is HORRIBLE and after you placed your order the wait time before you got your food was long; seemed like they went out to kill the cow. I ordered the rib eye steak and you could tell it was boiled because it was gray--not brown or red. In a restaurant at a multi-million dollar establishment where you pay $32 for a steak; you would expect the steak to be grilled and the broccoli not to be overcooked and soggy. I couldn't eat it, I just left it there on the table. Just thinking about it makes me freaking sick to my stomach and makes me want to puke. One of my co-workers who also had the rib eye steak got sick. Lucky for me I never ate it. In addition to the terrible food that was worse than a fast food restaurant, the atmosphere was awful. The moldy smell, outdated decor made the experience even worse. The "exclusive" view from the sky box that faced the track was filthy; dirty burgundy carpet, dirty silverware, drinks in plastic cups and all. I prefer not to pay for a reuseable plastic cup with my liquor, stale bread and nasty cheese. The best drink to chose is a bud light out of the aluminum bottle, at least you know it was cleaned at the factory. The carpet also had a musty smell that took over the restaurant. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there and eat. I won't be going back there. That place is a real SHIT HOLE. If I could vote a no star I would definitely would. The Bottom line the food is bad and the service was worse...If anyone from this restaurant or the racetrack owners would like to discuss this with me, I have many ideas to improve your location so that people would actually want to go there, as of right now--No one should go there. read more

We come here every week during football season. I look forward to coming. We bring the kids because on the nice September and October days I'll let them play in the playground and shot hoops on the basketball court. On 9/24/16 we went and lucked up because there was an event going on. There were moon bounce houses for the kids during the house races. They were serving food and drinks outside and there was a live band playing. There many groups using the picnic tables and grilling food. I have to find out what that event was so that I can look for it in 2017. I'll love to prepare and plan to participate. I didn't give it 5 stars because inside the where we place our bets always looks like it needs cleaning. The tables and chairs are messy and dirty most of the time. I actually watch a custodian lady with a broom and dust pan walk around like she was just trying to kill time and get over without actually sweeping the floors. SMH. I have been going to Delaware Park since long before the casinos showed up. Right now is probably the longest time that I have not made the 20-25 trip from PA. I used to go down with mom and dad, way back in the day (early 80s) as a kid. When dad passed, I would take mom down to play the slots, and I would hang outside in the picnic area, while she played slots. Often, we would end up in the restaurant in the casino area way in the back at the end. It was a good day out. I am a horse bettor, and I love NFL, but it is asking a bit much to pick 3 winners on a parlay, so I do not bet much NFL. For me, I have always liked going down there, but the racing card had gotten SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER, at the beginning of the casino. Now the PURSES have DROPPED over 50 %, and many of the races have only 5 or 6 horses, and many scratches. The racing product has deteriorated back to the late 70s, early 80s product. At least back then, they had more handout days (hats). It has been so long since I have gone down there (once or twice in a year as opposed to 10-20 times when the racing was better), and they even took me off their mailing list. When I'm in the mood to try my luck outside of AC I tend to visit the good old state of Delaware and hit up Delaware Park.. it's basically a race track that was turned into a casino but it has a great selection of games and the staff is very nice. Drink's as I recall are not free but at this point it make's up for it in other area's. The atmosphere is very relaxing no loud bars or clubs just some basic ammenties. I happen to win $100 in free slot play on these guy's from an email contest and ended up taking $80 out of $100 on them with it.. never heard back since lol.. they do have the sport's betting system going which I have not tried but will this year for the first time along with the horse betting I haven't tried yet either.. all around it's a nice little place parking's also free which is a perk. read more
