This Billa is where I do the majority of my grocery shopping, primarily because of its vicinity to…read moremy flat, although there is another Billa equally close by. The other stores near this one make shopping easier for me, particularly the Fressnapf (pet store) that's pretty much next door. Of course you can't expect a Julius Meinl grocery store, or even a Merkur - this is a small-ish grocery store, even by European standards. However, the people working here are totally friendly and have been patient with me over the last almost-two years, during which I've frequented this establishment and occasionally succumbed to the embarrassing necessity to attempt to speak German. There are four people who I regularly see working here, and none of them appear to loathe their jobs as some other Austrian cashiers seem to. There is one lady in particular who is super nice, actually, even when the line is long and other shoppers are getting antsy. I'm able to find most of what I need here with regards to "regular" (non specialty) items, e.g., milk, eggs, yogurt, flour. I also buy "organic" fruit and veggies here when I haven't made it to the Brunnenmarkt or Naschmarkt, and they usually have a decent selection. (And even though Merkur tends to carry more produce and different varieties, I find that the produce is fresher at this Billa than at Merkur.) As for meat, this store has a deli, but their department could use some "beefing up" if you know what I mean (lol, sorry y'all). But like I said, for the basics/necessities, I think this is a good place to shop and the people are nice. And that's saying a lot for a Viennese grocery store!
