In the case of Jason Smith, and his Southern Piedmont Law, the problem you'll have IS THE ATTORNEY. We had a completely uncontested divorce, already crafted by a previous attorney, that he took six months to even file. Smith just sat on it trying to cause trouble between the parties. There were additional months more of waiting until we finally had to get another attorney. Of course he didn't refund anything. I never heard my attorney's actual voice on the phone once btw. It was 100% email communication only, letting weeks and months go by without a word. Aubrey is his partner there doing the up front sales. You won't even know that Aubrey is not an attorney when you first talk with them. He gives you that initial hug and cleverly dances around your questions about all those awful legal things you are on the hook for in their retainer document. Then, he tells you they can do everything you ask, quickly and with no problems. So with a leap of faith, you sign their Retainer Agreement... and then... they "disappear". And, when you do send them edits, what you get back seems almost purposely errant, so as to take more time and hope the party's may fuss over it more. SMITH falsly emailed us for months that "we are all waiting on the judge" as the delay. According to the court clerk's office though, he had not yet even filed our case for the judge to review. Smith doesn't live in Georgia and his answering service is not in Georgia. When we checked his website office address in Newnan (or Florida), we found it was fictitious. We really did use this attorney...and we "really" wish we hadn't. There are some good lawyers in Newnan, but Smith (who is known around town as kind of a bottom feeder) is just not a good choice.

From start to finish, the service was abysmal and I would strongly caution anyone considering hiring this firm to think twice. First of all, communication was a major issue. I found it extremely difficult to get ahold of my assigned attorney and when I did, they seemed disinterested and unengaged. I continually had to follow up with them myself to get updates on my case, and when I did finally speak to their clerks, it was clear they hadn't even read my file or were not informed of the specifics of my situation. Secondly, the billing process was a complete mess. I received multiple different invoices with different amounts and descriptions of services provided. When I tried to discuss this with the accounting department, I was met with rudeness and impatience. It felt like they were just trying to squeeze as much money out of me as possible without providing any clear explanation for the charges. I have to find another law firm to sort out the mess that this firm allowed and by mess, I mean the drawn up paperwork makes no sense and is completely incorrect. I signed at the suggestion of the lawyer, realizing now that their service was a waste of time and money. They provided nothing, honestly. Charging repeatedly for paperwork and information that they never used. My case never went to the trial that I thought I was paying for. I paid trial fees for a lawyer to speak to me twice over the course of a year. She was ill or unavailable the rest of the time. Blatant liars and will threaten to drop you and keep your money if you complain, because they need the "trust" of the client. Don't trust them to do right by you. They're money hungry. Overall, my experience with CHISOLM TRIMBLE & ASSOCIATES, LLC. was incredibly disappointing. I would not recommend this firm to anyone looking for professional and reliable legal services.
