It's clean and the staff was friendly. They're cash-only, but there's an ATM on site. The menu is straightforward and reasonably priced. We ordered the carne asada super burrito, two carne asada tacos, and two carnitas tacos. Everything was excellent. The meats were well-seasoned without being salty, and nothing was greasy. The carnitas were tender inside with crispy edges. While we were eating, three other people came in to eat. We left very satisfied and will definitely be back next time we're in Monterey! read more

Yelp suggested the place, and we were game. Finger-licking good pretty much sums it up. I started with two tacos Asada, then added another chicken taco. My friend was more suspicious. Started with one, and then ordered another two. And... we loved it. Fresh, flavorful, delicious. I know that on our next trip to the area we'll be back, and come hungrier. They offer yellow or white tortillas. I prefer the yellow; my friend is all about white. But it's what's on top that wins the argument. I had 4 asada two yellow corn tortilla and two white corn tortilla both were bomb but my faves were the yellow corn ones I could be mistaken but their tortillas tasted freshly made like legit and they weren't stingy with the grilled onions which are a must ! Their menu is very limited, no crunchy tacos or taquitos or anything deep fried. You pick which kind of meat you want then you pick either taco, burrito, torta, quesadilla or combination. They only serve bottles or cans of soda and agua frescas. I had a Lengua (tongue) taco with 2 white corn tortillas. It was very good, tender and served with a lemon slice and some killer green salsa. Hubby had a chicken combination burrito. This this was massive, bigger than his forearm. It had rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes, cheese, chicken. It was delicious! Served with a slice of lemon and jalapenos. It was enough for 2 people. To top it off it was cheap, only 7.00 for both! Can't beat that. We'll definitely be back soon. read more

This place is great. The location is in a small shopping center next to a Chinese Restaurant. I was in the middle of nowhere and found this gem. I walked in and was greeted by lady behind the cashier. I proceed to order the carne asada tacos,you have a choice to order yellow corn or regular. I ordered 3 to be exact. I sat down and a couple of minutes later my tacos had arrived. 4!!! I got a free taco!!! The tortilla was warm and the meat was oh so tender. I can savor the tacos in my mouth as I write this review. Good tacos but in over the dozen times I have been/ordered to go here they are always very tight on their salsas. Big issue with their hours, I am frequently in Castroville and lately they are always closed, drove in at 11:30am for lunch on a Monday, closed. They need to update their hours sign. Makes me wonder why they are closed so often?? My biggest gripe is that they charge you for a bag. I believe that any food service industry must provide "free" bags for their customers. Please note that when you go to any fast food restaurant or sit down restaurants they do not charge you for a bag if you order to go or take leftovers, supermarkets are not to charge you for produce bags. When we accidentally stumbled on this place, I wasn't expecting much. When I looked at their prices, it was on the more expensive side, but since we're at a rural area, I understood why. Talking about the price, it's very reasonable since they actually offer different kinds of meats from regular beef, pork, and chicken to extreme intestines and tripes. I've lived in LA for quite a while and my standards when it comes to tacos and burritos have gotten up. Food is very good but they don't answer they're phone! I called 6 times because I wanted to place an Order to go. I work 10 minutes away so it's all together a 20 minute drive that leaves me 10 minutes to eat. But they don't take orders over the phone I have to wait an extra 5. Love the food but not worth the hassle. Just answer the phone or don't put your number on the front of the building if your not going to answer. It's so ridiculous.
