For the first time the carne asada didn't taste all that great. Usually, their food is fantastic, but everything else was great. I'll be ordering next time cheese enchiladas instead of this. Was super disappointed coming here. I wanted to go to El Zacatecano down the street because they are yummy. But there was no parking. My friend said hey lets check this place out. They are in a little shopping center. I ordered a chile verde burrito. Usually when you get chile verde the first thing you see is the green sauce. This is my "goto" place in Salinas. Always made fresh and to order. It is also a great value. I usually get the Carne Asade burrito and regular nachos and it is still under $7.00. The place has lots of seating and a few TVs, the dining area looks like furniture from a home. There is usually a line out the door during lunch hour and it is cash only. read more

This restaurant happened to be very close to where I was staying and I'm so glad I decided to pop in on a Saturday night. I was staying in salinas during my trip to Pinnacles Nat'l Park. After hiking nonstop for 7.2 miles, the last thing I want to do is to eat fancy food. After taking a much needed nap, I ventured to get what my body requires after any hike - comfort food. In this case, nachos. I grew up in Los Angeles and had legit Mexican food there. This place reminded me of places like that in LA, and that was truly special. The prices were outrageously affordable. Nachos started at $2.45, and if you wanted to make it "super" with sour cream and meat, it was 5-ish after tax. In San Jose, it'll be double the price usually, and SF easily the same. Not only was the food incredible, the prices were good. Very easily a better option than getting subpar fast food from a money hungry corporation. The price to portion is also notable. You get SO much food for one price, it is quite the deal. I couldn't even finish my nachos because they gave so much. It was delicious! The carnitas are def on top of the list of faves! This place is so freaken cheap! Just recently went on Monday and had a lunch special of chicken flautas for 3.99!! what a steal along with some fish tacos at 1.89 each. The price of the taco has gone up, but hey whats a few cents..its still under 2 dollars. I would highly recommend this place to a person who enjoys cheap mexican food and isn't afraid to enter the east side of salinas. One of the best Taquerias in town! Only downside is cash only but it's worth it and it's really cheap! Much lower prices than any other taqueria and the tacos are much bigger than your average sized street tacos, they use huge tortillas so even two tacos are very filling for me. My favorite is the Super Nachos with Carne asada. They are one of the few restaurants that use Nacho cheese sauce instead of Mozzarella cheese in their nachos. I love them both either way but I always prefer original nacho cheese. Overall I love this place and would definitely recommend it! read more

This isn't a place you are going to impress anyone. This IS a place you're going to get good food. This is a place you're going to eat off paper plates with plastic silverware but not care. This is the place you're going to see novellas playing in the corner on a static tv while there is some sort of Chicano music on the jukebox. The people are very nice. Always willing to substitute things for me to fill my vegetarian appetite. They are real people making real homemade food. If you NEED the pretentious, the snooty, the phony, cool, this isn't your spot. This place was a last minute place to eat after my little cousin's 8th Grade graduation. Not a bad choice at all. Very authentic Mexican food. I ended up getting a Super Burrito (pastor) and it was very delicious. The rest of the fam bam got carne asada which looked good as well. This place have Super Burritos at under $5. Insane prices. I also ended up getting some chicken enchiladas as well. They were very good also. The place was pretty packed for the most part and everyone in there was having a good time and enjoying their food. I used to eat at this place with my coworkers when I worked in the Salinas many years ago. I stopped in recently and nothing has changed. The food was a smidgen above average and unfortunately the environs were still as dirty as ever. If you're looking for a standout Mexican food experience, this is not the place to go. It's a glorified taqueria that poses as a sit down experience. I just tried a taquero last weekend at a wedding that put this joint to shame. I think the taquero was out of Gilroy and his business is called Taquizo's. They made their tortillas from scratch and all their food was made to order. Delicia's does not go to this extent to impress the customer. This establishment knows it has to do one thing, fill the gullet of the lunchtime crowd. I ordered the SUPER BURRITO + SOPE Plate w/Chicken and it cost $9-something (Tax already included). Portion Size: GIGANTIC!!! When my order came out, it probably weighed between 4-5 lbs. We only made it through the sope plate and didn't touch the burrito b/c the portions were so Paul Bunyan huge. Taste: It was good, fast, mex. food with minimal oil (That we noticed). Location: Umm...its not the ritz. But it's busy and that means a lot of food moves fast...so everything has to be little fresher. Why only 4 stars? Portions are huge....seriously, the burritos here will last me 2 meals. I've had many fine burritos here. I have to say my most favorite is the chile relleno burrito. It is stuffed with a delicious chile relleno, beans, rice, lettuce, tomato, cilantro, onion, cheese, sour cream, and avocado. Their home made house salsa is the perfect addition to any dish to spice it up and there are usually some Serrano chiles there to grab if you need some supreme heat. There is no better place for authentic Mexican food that this little hole in the wall. The ladies that cook here are the real deal. The Menudo is awesome! I had the fried fish and it was so good. The crispiness of the fish was perfect. They have really good sopes and enchiladas as well. They are not fancy with their food. You just get authentic Mexican food without all the fuzz. I've only ate here once, but it's not my style. I ordered Enchiladas and a pork Sope. They use lots of salad mix (Lettuce, Cabbage & Carrots) on top of the enchiladas, not sure why,,, and i had to scrape it all off to see my enchiladas. The sope was on a separate plate and it was not very good at all, the pork was way too salty and the sope was way overcooked and greasy.
