    Chicken Shawarma ($6)
    Shefali B.

More of a 3.5 I happened to be in the area and was looking for a quick lunch spot nearby. While waiting to order, the owner brought out some potato wedges dipped in their signature garlic sauce and gave one to each of us in line ( great marketing at it's finest ) and it was DELICIOUS. It really tempted me into almost getting a combo. I got the Chicken Shawarma and it was so tasty! Pretty great value for money too ( $6 ) Service was so friendly and welcoming. You can really feel the hospitality when you walk in here. The main reason, I can't give it a 4 star rating is because, although the shawarma was tasty, it kinda lacked the fullness you'd hope for. The meat itself was good - flavourful and still moist, but I wish they had some more filling options, like pickles instead of cucumbers and maybe a Lebanese Cabbage Salad instead of a dry coleslaw mix. Their garlic sauce and hot sauce were amazing though! Definitely a great option if you're in the area.

Some of the falafel skin broke off, but I guess that gives us a good view of the inside!

Apparently it's hit or miss... get the owner who apparently serves samples of potato wedges with a huge smile to the line? 5 stars. But like half the Yelpers before me, my experience was that of slow, cold, service and mediocre shawarma. 4:45 pm on a weekday (Thursday) is not ideal to come based on my experience. WHAT WE GOT: Dozen falafels ~$10 and change Two chicken shawarma wraps ~$11 and change WHAT WE LIKED: Sometimes, size matters - their sandwich wrap and falafels were both bigger than competitors for only slightly higher price point! The falafels had a nutty taste, but that's dependent on your preference. WHAT WE DIDN'T: Inefficient service. Falafels tasted overcooked. Chicken was all put on one side of the wrap, so I basically had a lettuce wrap for half the time, and chicken sandwich the other half... WHAT I'D GET NEXT: If I gave this another shot, I'd try the shawarma plate. Heard the poutine might be good too! Crazy as it sounds, I'd come back during prime time dinner hours... maybe that's when the legendary, smiling owner comes out? PARKING/ENTRANCE/DECOR/SEATING Easy, ample parking. There's an entrance to the lot on both Finch and Birchmount. Bare bones look to the place keeps the focus on the food. There's another door that a few people came out of which makes me think it's a dining area... but we didn't venture there! FOOD Falafel slightly overdone. Nuttier taste than others. I prefer the herby spices from 'Family Shawarma' to the west a bit more, but each to their own. Chicken wraps didn't evenly distribute the meat, but I did like that they grilled it. In my opinion, I'd go for 'Doner King' to the northeast for my meat fix. SERVICE and WASHROOMS We were on a hunt for the best falafel and tried three different places this week, including the one newly opened at Woodside Square Mall, so it's really, really easy to see the difference in how efficient orders are taken and how tasty the food was. First, service was unsmiling and cold :(. 'Delicious' took nearly 20 minutes to put my falafels and wraps together and we were just second in line when we got there. Sure, it takes a bit to make the dozen falafels, but I'm pretty sure they went so slow with everything else that they forgot about them and ended up overdoing it. Having said that, their falafels ARE bigger and therefore take a bit longer to cook. There was this interesting moment where a woman came in to speak to the two staff on shift; one guy was in the middle of taking the meat from the rack to the sandwich and he paused to listen to her while the meat was dangling from his scoop. Always good to listen to someone talking to you, but if that person cut through three people waiting for their food and you've been making it. Another random moment? One of the sauce bottles took a few whacks and shakes to pump out the goods. Both staff took a crack at pumping it out. They got some of it to go onto the sandwich, but it was just odd watching them shake it in a restaurant with a solid lineup of hungry patrons, like I used to shake ketchup in my kitchen when I was 10. RATING SCALE 5: I'll be back, I'll bring friends and I'll cover their tab because I know they'll love it! 4: I'll probably be back, and might bring a friend! 3: I'd return on an extra-good deal/special promo/occasion. 2: I'd return if a friend insisted, probably 'their treat'. 1: Couldn't pay me to come back. 2 for now.

Felt like having shawarmas one evening for dinner so decided to pick some up from this place my friends had recommended. Tried the Chicken Shawarma with the works. Costed $5.87. Single shawarma is enough for one. Stuffing included chicken pieces, lettuce, radishes, pickles and cucumbers slices with a little hot sauce to spice it up. Tasted amazing and you could feel the hit of the hot sauce in every bite. Definitely worth the price and highly recommended.

This is one of the best shawarma restaurants in Toronto. I ordered the spicy chicken shawarma plate and 6 falafels. The platter was packed with flavour and the falafels were made fresh to order. You can never go wrong with low key place.

    Chicken shawarma poutine

Been here a couple times already. Owner and staffs are very friendly and welcoming. Food is great and reasonably priced. I love their poutine (not sure why it's not on the menu), fresh cut fries with loads of cheese curds - just incredible. I got the chicken shawarma poutine today... best thing ever! Sometimes they'll give out potato wedges to sample, again fresh cut potatoes with homemade garlic sauce, simply the best.

The owners hospitality is beyond amazing. Always cheerful and happy and greets you warmly with a smile when you enter. While the decor is not the most modern or up to date, it is very homey and authentic. There are a few tables inside and outdoor patio seating if you decide to stay, but take out seems to be the way to go. Open late which is perfect for those late night munchies and very easy to locate with plenty of parking in the plaza. Pricing is on par if not more fair compared to other shawarma places in the area, and the portion size and flavours are totally worth the price. What's more is that you can tell the owner takes pride in his food and puts a lot of passion into each sandwich or platter. Would highly recommend if you're in the area or looking for some legit shawarma/falafel!

This place has a 143 reviews on Google at a 4 star rating so I thought I'd give it a shot. It's def a no frills joint and that's reflected in the prices. Ordered the lunch special. 2 chicken Shawarmas for one low price. The sandwich was assembled with style and grace. I asked the owner about the soup and he brought me a nice abundant sample. Shawarma itself was delicious. Very low salt content, fully stacked with all the trimmings, and lightly toasted. Good food. Fantastic value. But if you're looking for that extra salty nonsense, this isn't your place. Homemade, authentic food st a great price.

For a shawarma place, their shawarma is mediocre. Their poutine though, is great. The best poutine I have eaten, so far.

We were seated and then greeted right away by our waitress. She gave us menus, but then didn't come back for about 15-20 minutes to take our drink orders. We each ordered a cocktail and they arrived within 5 mins. and all looked amazing. We had the Marissa Harissa which wasn't mine but I swapped for it because it was so tasty lol. It was spicy and a little sour and a little sweet. Very yum! I had ordered the Velvet Figue, which was tasty but a ittle on the sweet side for me. We also had the Amal Old Fashioned which was fantastic. My husband and I both said it was one of the best Old Fashioneds we'd ever had. The last one was the Amal Espresso Martini which was good but unremarkable. We waited about 20 minutes before our food orders were taken. We ordered several things to share. The first round came out around 10 minutes after ordering, which was good. We had the dip sampler and chose the hummus basil, baba ganoush and muhamarrah. The hummus basil was wonderfully smooth and had a great basil flavour. The baba ganoush was nice and creamy. The muhamarrah had a very nice flavour but was very sweet which was a little off-putting to me. I didn't hate it, but wouldn't order it again. We had the kibbeh which was fantastic. The texture and flavour were both perfect. We also had the spicy fingerlings which were great! They were very spicy and the sauce was lemony and so delicious. I actuallly mixed some with my muhamarrah to cut the sweetnss and that really helped. The rest of the food took about 20 minutes to arrive (after we finished the appetizers). We had the skewer platter for two and it was so delicious. The pistachio kabab was out of this world good. My sister doesn't usually enjoy lamb, but she liked this. It was spiced perfectly. The other two were very good too. We had the vermicelli rice, which was very nice. I make this at home so I'm familiar with it and really enjoyed it. The texture was perfect. Lastly, we had the pickle plate which was very interesting. The eggplant pickle was different from any pickle I've had before and was quite firm, which I wasn't expecting. It was tasty. We ordered a bottle of Lebanese red wine which was a very nice accompaniment to the skewers. All in all, it was a lovely evening. Our server was very nice and friendly and the food and drinks were very good. The 4-star rating is partly because of the very slow speed at which the food came out. I'd have given 4.5 stars if that was an option We would return.

Please take my review into consideration knowing that I haven't been there in at least 15 years…read more That said, I feel like I owe this restaurant a review because it was such a big part of my life and holds so many wonderful memories for me. When I moved to Canada in 1995, this restaurant was within walking distance of my sister's apartment, so we ate there all the time. Back then, if I remember correctly, they had a buffet for around $15 per person, and it was an incredible value. The food was always fresh, delicious, and plentiful. This restaurant became part of many chapters of my life. When I got married, I brought my husband and his family there because I wanted them to experience the food I loved so much. Later, when I had my children, it became one of the places we would visit whenever we were in Mississauga. At one point, we even lived in Mississauga for about a year and a half, and if we couldn't make it to the restaurant, we would order takeout instead. The amazing thing was that the food was just as delicious at home as it was in the restaurant. The restaurant itself wasn't huge or fancy. It was simple, comfortable, and focused on what mattered most--the food. The staff were always welcoming, and everything seemed to run smoothly. To this day, the lentil soup and the kibbeh are stuck in my head. I honestly think they were some of the best I've ever had in my life. Sadly, I can't enjoy the kibbeh anymore because I have celiac disease and have to avoid gluten, but those flavors are still some of my favorite food memories. I also remember that the mother of the family was involved in the cooking. Whether she is still there, retired, or if the ownership has changed, I honestly don't know. Because it has been so many years since my last visit, I can't speak to how the restaurant is today. What I can say is that the memories I have of this place are wonderful. The food was excellent, the service was great, and it became one of those special restaurants that stayed with me throughout the years. The next time I'm in Mississauga, I plan to stop by and see if the food is still as amazing as I remember. If it is, I know I'll be leaving with a huge smile and a full heart.

It came on rice which was confusing given the menu description. We got complimentary prepackaged lavash & pita on request to make the sandwiches, but given how simple the flavour was the sandwich didn't work as it was too dry & plain (since the bread was even drier & less flavourful than the rice).
