I thought it was clean, shady and was in a decent location near the local neighborhoods. My wife and I hung out here for a bit while we were visiting her family. It's quiet and worth a stop, especially if you have small children or just want to hang out with a coffee and talk.

Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. We got to the field which was, maddeningly one hour away from our hotel. Thanks not at all to the tournament which arranged this. There was plenty of parking for the number of teams and games going on. Always a good thing. And the parking lot was nicely paved and laid out. There were some trees around which helped as I sat in their shade and waited for the team to warm up before playing - like waited 1.5 hours in the 95+ degree temps. I learned quickly that the building above the softball fields was a gym - and it was open. It was also air conditioned and had nice restrooms available. I had made this my place to hang out between games for the coming days. However, with the rain that arrived, that was never needed. The fields are nicely laid out in a quad with concessions and restrooms in the center. Restrooms were kept in order and concession prices were fair. (Especially having been to see the Braves play the night before and paid 2.5 times as much for a soda!) There were bleachers on each side which I also appreciate. While I have a super comfortable chair that folds up - it is heavy to carry. And I also have a very nice bleacher cushion with a back rest. It is MUCH easier to tote around and is perfectly comfortable for a game - but not much longer. Fields were in good shape and the proper fencing and netting was in place. Dugouts looked OK, too - although I did not actually enter one or view it from the field - only what I saw looking across the diamond. The location of the park was OK, too. Near a Waffle House and gas stations - must haves for last minute needs like water/ice/snacks/etc. The Waffle House was our hang out as waited for the games to cancelled once the rain came. So yes they are very nice fields. But having driven 8+ hours to get here and only getting 2 games in thanks to the rain - it's quite hard to be enthusiastic about the experience at this park. But, I think I am fair giving it four stars. Hope you have better weather than we did if you go here!!

This is an interesting park that you can find at the foot of the Allatoona Lake damn on the Etowah…read moreriver. It's also the on the edge of the former town of Etowah and the home of Cooper's Furnace - a huge truncated-pyramid of stacked, mortared stone originally used to smelt iron ore. The furnace is still standing but now cordoned off - also, while it's apparent that visitors could at one time get closer to the Allatoona Damn, on this day the road and access to that part of the park was blocked-off with no trespassing signs (it's unclear if on other days the area is accessible or not, we visited on the day after Thanksgiving). The area is lush with vegetation and includes a pavilion, play-area with one of those crazy jungle gyms, bathrooms, fixed barbecue boxes and picnic tables. It's a surprisingly large park that's only open for day visits so no camping. It's also a bit weird to access - you get off of i85 South of the park then travel first West, then North to get under the highway. Next you travel a road alongside the Etowah river to get to the park itself with is East of i85. Once in the park make sure you checkout the trails and overlook - we were just scoping it out and plan a return to walk the trails - on this day we weren't in the right shoes or clothing. It's apparently a pretty good fishing spot too so make use you bring your pole.

I can walk to this park from our house, so I'll strap the kiddo in, trek up there, and stop for an iced coffee beforehand. Truly the best. The playground is broken up between a set for 2-5 year olds and 5+ year olds. The bigger kid section of the playground goes up pretty high and my mama heart gets so nervous because my two year old gets curious and wants to follow the big kids up there. I haven't quite learned how not to obsessively hover at the park as a mother. There are also a few swing sets - one traditional set and another for infants/toddlers. Other elements of this park include a dog run area, tennis courts, and a baseball field. Everything is seemingly well maintained and the bathroom seems to be pretty clean.

Beautiful! We had a…read moregreat weekend camping at Red Top Mountain! My family booked the walk-in campsites 46-50, and in my opinion, these were some of the best spots in the campground. (Book 44 &43 if you want to be closer to 47-50). These campsites are right next to the water and not too far from the bathrooms, which is so convenient. There is no electricity there and site has their own water. We had beautiful weather during the day and a nice cool breeze at night. Make sure to keep all your coolers secure because a couple of raccoons broke into several of ours. P.s. There is also an outlet right by the parking lot next to campsite 47.

The good things about Etowah park is that there is a track that I will walk around sometimes, several good tennis courts, a golf driving range up the hill, and a small playground with swings and a couple of slides. There is also a short trail that runs through the woods with a couple of bridges. The bad things about Etowah, there is a little skate park that seems to attract seedy, obnoxious teenagers who smoke and cuss no matter who is around including young children. Also, part of the track that my son would ride his bike on runs right beside Wilshire Rd. and I don't really like that for several reasons. We go here sometimes, it's just not our favorite park, Ridgeferry is much better.
