Fred and staff are amazing people, right from the beginning through the service until the very end, Fred's attentiveness and attention to detail is superior. Going to a lot of services at Dello Russos through the years for family and friends , I couldn't recommend a better place to say your goodbyes to a loved one. It's nice to have a family owned businesses like this in the neighborhood you lived and grew up in, they take everything personal and you know them when you do have to plan for a funeral service so there isn't any uneasy awkwardness. I hate writing bad reviews. I really do. I only do it when it's truly warranted. My grandfather, a 94 year old World War 2 veteran, died in August. He pre-arranged his services with Dello Russo in Medford. He took out a life insurance policy several years ago that made Dello Russo the beneficiary in the event of his death. When my grandfather passed, we started finalizing his affairs. All I wanted to know was how much this insurance policy was valued at so I would know how much money we had to work with in terms of cost since whatever the insurance policy didn't cover would need to come out of my pocket and I didn't want to be hit with a huge bill. With Dello Russo being the beneficiary, all they had to do was call the insurance company and ask. I called them, waited a few days, and called again, waited a few days or a week and called again, and was told by Jonelle multiple times that they did not know the value of the policy yet. My grandfather had already been laid to rest in the cemetery by this point and I still had no idea of the cost. I kept calling and asking about this for weeks. I was getting more and more frustrated with the lack of communication. As the executor of my grandfather's estate, I wanted to have copies of all invoices for his funeral and burial, which consisted of them just receiving his body, preparing it for burial, and escorting it to the cemetery for entombment in a mausoleum. We did not have a service, per my grandfather's request. So it was the easiest possible situation for them. Literally, all I wanted was a paper trail. Jonelle kept saying she was working on it and would look into it and never got back to me. I finally got Freddie (the owner) on the phone 3 weeks ago and I expressed my frustration. I even mentioned that I was considering hiring an attorney to retrieve these documents for me because of their lack of cooperation. Freddie assured me that he would put the invoice in the mail that day for me. That was September 20th. I waited 3 weeks and with still no invoice in my possession as of October 13th, I called yet AGAIN. This was probably 7 or 8 times by now, and they FINALLY emailed me the invoice for just their services. I immediately responded and asked for a copy of the check the insurance company sent them, which they finally sent to me. Maybe because this request was by email and I finally had a paper trail to document the request, they knew they couldn't ignore it. It honestly made me feel like they were purposely hiding something from me, such as saying the insurance policy was for a certain amount and possibly pocketing the rest. This doesn't appear to be the case according to the documents I received, but I couldn't fathom why they couldn't take the 1 minute it would require to send that over to me especially since they knew my grandfather personally and knowing I had called multiple times, in escalating levels of aggravation, with an extremely simple request to fulfill. What was the issue? Was it just incompetence, ignorance, or a complete lack of caring by needlessly prolonging this? I just don't get it. The only kindness we received was them waiving $400 that the insurance policy didn't cover of the total cost. They said they did this because they knew my grandfather and thought a lot of him. I just wish they thought more of his grieving granddaughter over the last 2 months. read more

I lived in Medford for many years, family still lives in Medford , my mother passed away March 7 and went with Dello Russo,cause I alway thought they were the best,, they buried my father in 2001, now my mother,a few weeks ago,when everything was over I got a call from Dello Russo saying that I took a plant that was not mine , apparently the funeral people put the plant (orchid) were all our flowers and plants were in a garage, there was another service going on the same time too, anyways I did call and told them that I did have the plant ,the problem was they wanted it as soon as possible, I said I live on the cape and it would take over an hour to get there for a $30 plant , we spent 14 thousands on my mother funeral,they could of went and had one sent to the person that it belong too , but call my family 3 times , my daughter,myself,, the next day I drove to Medford and gave it to them , I said thank you for the service,you should of bought that family that plant, cause it took me over 1 1/2 hr drive to here , he said I would of pick it up myself! I laughed and said , why did you have to haunt us , ,I will never do business again with there people,the sad thing is my mother went to school with the owner of Dello Russo,my mom lived 2 streets down from funeral service. read more

From Freddie Jr's leadership, to Jonele's kindness and attention to detail, to John's special personality and finesse when driving for our family, you simply can't find a more professional and compassionate team. We had a complicated situation with our loved one being flown in from out of state, with planning a few weeks in advance as he was in hospice care, and with lots of sadness (and emotion on the calls) and the Dello Russo team came through for us as they always have. Patient, kind, and without any issues. I can't imagine going to any other funeral service in the Massachusetts area if you want the best care for your loved one and your family. Yesterday was the hardest day of my life as my mother was laid to rest. DelloRusso made an extremely difficult time so much easier from beginning to end. All the employees are kind, compassionate, respectful and patient. When we met with the owner Fred to plan the services, he did not rush us and we appreciated his advice. Dello Russo's funeral home in Medford Mass is an absolute disgrace. My mother's friend passed away and was being waked out of Dello Russo's last week. My mother who is 75 years old cannot walk upstairs so she contacted Dello Russo's to make sure they had handicap access in which they told her that they did and it was around the back of the building. When my mother arrived they told her all they had was a freight elevator that was not in service. They told her they could help her walk up the stairs which she was not comfortable doing that since she was afraid she would fall. My mother told me this story today and her eyes started to well up because she was unable to go in and pay her last respects to her very good friend. People need to know how disrespectful, unprofessional end most likely illegal Dello Russo's funeral home in Medford is. From what I understand the elevator has been broken down now for at least a couple weeks but most likely longer and when I contacted Dello Russo's they did not seem to care one bit of what happened. If you have a loved one who passes go to any other funeral home other than Dello Russo's. I have contacted Medford City Hall with no response about this issue, I am absolutely furious that my mother could not say a final goodbye to her close friend and it's all because of the lack of professionalism and respect of Dello Russo's. I've also reached out to the local media in hopes they will run some type of story so the people of Medford will see what type of place this truly is. read more
