Our guide, Aaron was excellent. The novelty of the amphibious car was good. The scenery and the tourism was nice. My kid even enjoyed being at the controls to drive in the water. There isn't much legroom if you are tall. If you want to get wet, this is less likely what you need to be doing but it is chill and fun. read more

This is my first time in a long time on one of these historic vehicles. They have an ample parking lot, which is free, for you to park and when you first arrive, you either buy your tickets or pick up your tickets that you purchased on-line at the ticket booth. They have a little tiki bar with bar seating and tables and chairs that is located right outside of the souvenir shop and zipline equipment shed that offers tropical frozen drinks and kid's slushies in souvenir cups. You can hang out there before or after your tour. I hung out there before I got in the line for the duck. This is their most flexible ride when it comes to scheduling. They had one leaving at least every 30 minutes when I was there. The ride is on a WWII ear amphibious duck vessel. The tour lasts about 30 minutes or so. Our tour guide, Audra, was very informative, friendly and had an awesome sense of humor. You could tell that this was not her first rodeo. You get a little bit of a history lesson during the tour and go from land to water, to land, to water, and end up on land thankfully. To be more specific they take you across one of the rivers on their property on a road, into a larger river, past a beach, under a bridge, and back on land where you then return to base. The seats are a bit cramped, worse than an old school bus. Even though you are in and out of the water, you should not get wet. I must admit that even with the awesome entertainment and wit provided by Audra, it was not a very exciting excursion and I found it kind of boring near the end. When you get off of your duck, they will offer to sell you some photos that they took of you against a green screen before you got in line to start your tour. There is no pressure to buy the pictures and you can just leave. I would suggest having some cash available to tip your guide if you so choose. The guide/driver also sells post cards and duck whistles at the end of the tour that kind of doubles as a tip, as well. All-in all, something neat, unique and different to do. This company is top notch and offers bundles with some of their other attractions including zip lining, jet boat, and ropes course. Even though I found it a bit sleepy, my little and I have another memory that will last us a life time. read more

The tour itself was alright. I wish they didn't make their guides to beg for tips though and just pay them appropriately. Be aware of their deceptive price practices at the refreshments tiki bar. There's no prices advertised on the menu. So, once you get the drinks for your party, you face a ridiculous bill and it's late to return them at this moment as they are already made and given to kids. Kids ICEEs ended up being $16 each, to a total of $48 for three that we got. My wife's drink alone was charged at $35. Mind blowing! Destroyed the whole experience with the actual trip. Would be great to fine this business for deceptive price practices by complaining to FTC. I hope they respond and act on this. They can charge whatever they want if advertised, but hiding their pricing and then force you to pay is illegal! read more

We spent today at Dells Army Ducks. My, my better half and our 5, yes FIVE children. Ages barely not an adult to running out of single digits. First let me say I tried to purchase tickets for all four areas on my own for the same day, some at the same times. Take my advice: don't do that. Call them. I gave up after trying for too long and quickly found so should have just called them. They know what they are doing. Super helpful. Got it all right the first time! Once there, 5 out of 7 of us did the zip line and loved it. All smiles. Excitement and stories forever I'm sure. Elle & Zach kudos. My people loved their time with you. Give these two a raise as the people make or break a good time! Myself and one of our younger ones, did the duck boat. Twice. (Initially we signed him up for the Wild thing, but after further consideration, we switched without ANY haste to another duck boat ride as my youngest has some health/mobility/sensory quirks & he wasn't excited about all that need for speed). After this hassle free switch we again had a great time. Blake & Garin (sorry if I spelled that wrong. No one gets my name right either) we're both great! Blake was full of knowledge and dad jokes from start to finish. The music was a nice touch also. Garin also very knowledgeable, a great sense of humor and made my Lilly guy feel super special letting him sit up front and helping him with that sun setting glare. Sounded like both guys have been there a while & definitely represent Dells Ducks well. Give these guys a raise! Wild thing also amazing. We did the jet boat and the duck boat tours. Sterling was an absolute AMAZING jet boat driver! He was funny, he played great music and he absolutely drenched us!! I'm not sure why more people aren't encouraged to tip or that as an option when sending out your follow up email... We came to the Dells from Indiana as my Army NG solider/ full time fire-fighter/paramedic boyfriend and I just for a little mom/dad get away & it was just what we needed!! The "high school science teacher" was our duck boat guide. He had a lot of corny jokes. He's very "family friendly" I just wish I would have been warned that we were going to get our feet drenched sitting in the back. On the jet boats they give you a container to keep your shoes/keys/wallet, etc...in so they don't get soaked. We were told about 3 seconds before we were soaked. We had wet shoes for our rest of the time in the Dells. That part sucked so if you're sitting in the back of the duck boat, be prepared... Also, you can't book a 2pm jet boat and a 3pm duck boat. You won't make it back in time. No one told us that upon checking in either. Still leaving 5 starts though...Sterling was bad ass!! read more

We went on the jet boat tour with Captin Martini. There were only 5 of us on the boat. We were asked on a scale of 1/10 how wet we wanted to get. We all went for 10! Dells Army Ducks provided us with an informative, entertaining tour of beautiful Lake Delton; which has been refilled and restored! For those not familiar, Ducks are amphibious military vehicles, designed to traverse both sea and land. They have wheels and a boat motor and were integral to the invasion at Normandy during WWII. What I did not know was that "Ducks" is actually based on an acronym for "DUKW", the naming terminology used by General Motors. The D indicates a vehicle designed in 1942, the U meant "utility (amphibious)", the K indicated all-wheel drive and the W indicated two powered rear axles. I took my first Duck ride back when I was just a boy and the splashdown into Lake Delton was thrilling back then. The splashdown was still kind of fun, but the Ducks don't get much past 35 m.p.h. on land anymore. What I enjoyed most were the beautiful views of rock formations in and around Lake Delton. There's lots of Native American lore and history to the area. Chicagoans used to take the train up to Wisconsin Dells to sit in row boats to admire the natural beauty, and it seemed fitting that the tradition continues today. Either of the Ducks companies are probably fine, but our young driver (a six year veteran) added to our History lesson with a hilarious dry wit and banter that kept us entertained.
