I have visited the Dells plenty of times in my life, but have never done the ducks, naturally when in town this past time we decided to give it a try and go for the Original. We visited early October and had no issue walking right up to the ticket window and then walking right onto the Duck. I assume it gets pretty busy in the summer and there is a maze of partitions for larger crowds, and a snack bar to hold you over until you get on the Duck. The driver and guide are great at balancing cheesy jokes and some time for you to enjoy the scenery and the ride. We learned a little about the history of the Ducks themselves, the Lake Delton area, and Wisconsin wildlife as we took about an hour long tour. It was great to see some scenery and lean about the history, would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a little something different to do than waterparks!

This is definitely not wheelchair accessible; no matter what they tell you when you call. They said someone would help me on and off. They did help me on but my entire family had to help get me off. Other than that it was a great experience. Our driver was very funny and made the drive entertaining.

    Wildlife on the trail!

One of two "Duck" Trips available in the Dells. This one is constantly rated as the better of the two. Can't tell you why because I always choose this one! I've done this trip maybe 3 or 4 times in my life (over many years) and always enjoy it. I have to say that the unfortunate breach (and emptying) of Lake Delton a few years ago has added a bit of interesting recent history to the tour. It made this trip a little new and fresh for me. With most tours, your guide can make or break the enjoyment level and our guide did not disappoint. Would imagine they are all well trained. It was a great spring day, the water level was high, all the trees and ferns were pretty much newly sprouted and green. Lots of wild deer walking around posing for pictures. And the bugs were not out yet! Perfect! One of many "must do's" in the Dells.

Great tour of the Dells on land and water. Beautiful scenery. We learned a lot of history and heard stories of the Dells as well. Driver was entertaining and had us laughing. Kids loved it too. Recommend doing the tour for sure!

Witches gulch was beautiful and the dog leaping was great. The boat ride was very relaxing tour guide gave awesome information. Everyone on the boat was super friendly. It was a good time.

Switching from land to water was cool.

This traditional ride is a must at least once in your life. The vehicles are interesting and the tour takes just shy of 1 hour. The views are wonderful and the drivers share their jokes and tour info well. It's just a fun activity with beautiful views. Feel free to ask questions and groan at their jokes. Note: I first took this ride at least 40 years ago and the jokes have not changed at all! I love the kitchie-ness of it though. And the current info does change since Lake Delton drained a few years back. Please know that the drivers make the majority of their pay from selling the books and cards they offer during a mid-ride stop. Bring cash and tip generously. These drivers only make 8-10 rides per day and we need to help support them. An extra few $$ is appropriate, even if you don't take the cards and booklets. Yes this is worthwhile just for the simpleness of it all.

The original Wisconsin Ducks is one of those must do tourist attractions in the Dells. Our group arrived for our tour, and we were split into two ducks to accommodate us. Tours like this are made by the tour guides, and we had an amazing one. Wish I could remember his name, but he was knowledgeable, and his comedic timing was so perfect. It was a beautiful ride on land and in the waters. The nature scenes were breathtaking. I loved being able to travel on land and in water without having to get out and switch. The ducks do both which is a cool experience. Definitely fun for all ages.

A view from above the Wisconsin River.

We had a wonderful tour with Logan yesterday afternoon. He kept us entertained with many funny jokes. Our duck was full and it was fun to watch everyone's reaction when the duck went into the water.

What's the best way to purchase tickets for this?

I don't know if it's the "best" way, but there's a ticket booth right at the location - That's where I purchased them. After the tour, I went to the downtown area, and there was also a place on the main road to buy tickets (I highly recommend…

Are the tickets I buy today good for any day? I didn't see date options on the website. Thanks!

The…read moretour takes you along the beautiful Wisconsin River where you can see the famous rock formations of the Wisconsin Dells. Pictures really don't do it justice -- the cliffs and sandstone formations are much more impressive in person. The tour is about 2 hours long and includes two stops where you get off the boat to explore. One stop is at Witches Gulch where you walk through a narrow, mossy canyon that feels almost magical, and the other is Stand Rock where you can see one of the Dells' most famous rock formations up close. The guides did a great job sharing the history of the area, including how parts of the Dells were preserved from developers, which is why the scenery still looks so natural today. Overall it was a really relaxing and enjoyable tour. The views, the history, and being out on the river made it well worth it. Definitely recommend if you're visiting the Dells!

We took the Upper Dells Boat Tour to see Witch's Gulch and the Wisconsin Dells, as it's the only…read moreway to access Witch's Gulch. The boat ride itself was very enjoyable, and the captain, narrator, and his wife were all knowledgeable, entertaining, and made the trip fun from start to finish. Witch's Gulch was absolutely beautiful. The towering rock formations, lush vegetation, and narrow walkways made it one of the highlights of our trip. My only wish is that I could have experienced it with fewer people, as the crowds took away a bit of the peaceful atmosphere. The biggest drawback for me was how commercialized the experience felt. After walking through this stunning natural area, you arrive at a concession stand and gift shop, which made the experience feel less immersive and, in my opinion, diminished some of the area's natural beauty. I also noticed quite a bit of trash floating in the water near where the boats dock, which was disappointing to see in such a scenic location. I would have loved to see the tour place more emphasis on the area's natural history and its Native American heritage rather than the commercial aspects of the attraction. Fortunately, the second landing on the tour felt much more natural and less developed, and it was every bit as beautiful. Overall, the scenery alone makes the Upper Dells Boat Tour worth taking. While I wish the experience focused more on preserving the natural character of the area, Witch's Gulch is a remarkable place that I'm glad we had the opportunity to see. We also took a Duck Boat tour as a family while visiting the Wisconsin Dells, and it was a fun experience for both adults and kids. Our driver was friendly, funny, and did a great job keeping everyone entertained throughout the tour. The combination of traveling on both land and water made the experience unique, and our children especially loved the transition from road to river. The narration was enjoyable, with a good mix of local history, interesting facts, and humor that kept the ride engaging from start to finish. There were only a couple of aspects that took away from the experience. Just before returning to the ticket area, the tour paused for a presentation about the history of flooding in the Dells that transitioned into a sales pitch for souvenir booklets and a request for tips. We understand that this likely wasn't the guide's decision, but it felt a little out of place and interrupted the otherwise enjoyable flow of the tour. We also weren't particularly fond of the mandatory photo opportunity before boarding. While it's easy enough to decline purchasing the photo, it did make the beginning of the experience feel a bit more commercialized than we expected. Overall, though, the Duck Boat tour was a fun and memorable family activity. The guide was excellent, the scenery was beautiful, and it's an experience we'd recommend to families visiting the Wisconsin Dells.

When I asked why, they gave a ridiculous excuse, saying they couldn't give us the new ones because we were a group, and they would only give them to solo riders. Despite the illogical reasoning, we took the older ones without causing any issues and started riding. Ten minutes before the end, I was swapping the passenger behind me with another friend. Both of us stopped, and there was a distance of about 4 meters between us. The friend behind me jumped into the water and went to the other WaveRunner. Just at that moment, one of the employees was coming towards me at high speed. Unable to control his speed, he tried to veer to the right to avoid hitting me head-on but ended up colliding with me. The 16-year-old employee said we needed to return to the shore, so we did. He told everyone that I had hit him, even though myself and two friends witnessed the incident. I explained the situation, and two female managers came. Surprisingly, both of them accused me, as if they had witnessed the whole thing. Their only argument was that we shouldn't have been that close. I understood that point, but their employee shouldn't have approached me with such speed and shouldn't have hit me. Despite my efforts to explain, they blamed me unjustly. Then, another employee on the shore, who was more than 200 meters away from the incident, claimed to have seen me hitting the employee. This was an obvious lie and deception. Later, the girl at the reception inside the establishment claimed that I had asked her a question: "What happens in case of an accident?" I asked her to show the footage because I knew I hadn't asked her anything like that, but she said she didn't have the authority to access the cameras. When I got home, I saw that they had charged $1030 to my credit card. This is a robbery, a lie, and a slander. I strongly advise staying away from this place. I will do everything I can to get my money back. The document I signed does mention that I will be liable for any damages to the WaveRunner I rented, but there is no clause stating that their employee can come so close and even collide with me, and I have to pay for their expenses.

We got to see a two-headed snake, so many gators, and the biggest snakes we've ever seen. He had been watching science-related videos, reading books, talking alligators and crocs nonstop. We were planning a mini father son trip and I wasn't sure where to go, when to my surprise I saw that Wis Dells had an alligator place! So we actually headed up there from NW Chicagoland for Alligators first...and boy this did not disappoint. The place was surprisingly very clean and not smelly at all--I had a college roommate who bought an old Used car that had a garter snake in it and he kept it and boy did it smell...so this is no small feat to keep it clean with this many reptiles. It was the first thing we did in Wis Dells and my son was there a good couple of hours (entrance was about $20 for us to visit and then you can buy food to feed -- meat packets were very reasonably priced), and also feed alligators, pythons, snapping turtles, alligator snapping turtles, caimans live mice and/or rats depending what the animals needed that day. Thankfully the owners -- lovely people who have been there nearly 30 years -- feed the live animals we don't have to touch them. I'll admit that left me a little squirmish but my son was in heaven. We were there about 2 hours (most folks I imagine last about 30 mins) and my son was really excited to see the animals -- behind closed glass tanks. They have 14 or so gators in the big tank right as you walk in, have an albino alligator (large one too) in a separate tank behind. Several pythons- including a jumbo yellow scary python and one a little smaller next to it. They have turtles, some smaller snakes, and some toads etc in other cages.... I figured we saw all we could ever see that first 2 hours as it isn't the biggest place, but my son really wanted to go back before we left, so we went back 2 days later and I don't know how we missed it on day 1, but they had a photo opportunity to hold an alligator (its mouth is taped for safety) and that was the thrill of my sons life! He's been telling everyone about that post our visit. Overall it was impressive how clean and not smelly the place is, showing the care the handlers/owners take to these animals. One bit of advice, while they have some very brief blurbs on some (not all) of the animals, I'd recommend adding more complete blurbs in the animals like a traditional zoo would. They also have an opportunity to buy alligators (which presumably is legal in Wisconsin) and that is something I'd never recommend -- Thankfully they aren't cheap so kids likely couldn't do that without a parent being involved:). All in all across 2 visits we were there 3.5 or so hours and my son had the absolute best time of his life. I can't thank them enough and they were super great to him answering his questions, etc (especially since on the second visit they were pretty darn crowded but they gave my so. Extra special treatment :) ). A wonderful experience-- and a reminder of the things we parents do for our kids lol - as Id never be there if it was t for my son, let alone be there twice! We will be back too next time we go to the Dells (I hadn't been to the Dells in over 20 years--first time as an adult, and I hadn't a great time, but this was amongst our biggest highlight of the trip)
