Bought a Class B van from Camping World in Newport News. It was used, only a few years old, low…read moremiles, and they claimed it had gone through a full inspection. They even told me there were a few things they were fixing before delivery, so naturally I assumed it was solid. Three months later, it has spent almost that entire time in the shop. I've missed trips I had planned. I've taken one trip without water because the system wasn't working. Another trip ended with water leaking everywhere and damaging the cabinetry. Meanwhile, I've made all three payments on a van I've barely been able to use. Out of the 11 weeks I've owned it, it's been out of service for 9. And here's the frustrating part. Camping World is quick to sell you a unit, but when problems show up, the service drags. Everything is "waiting on parts" or "on order." No urgency, no ownership. When I finally asked about trading out of it into something reliable, their solution was to offer me wholesale value, nowhere near what I paid, on a van they sold me in this condition. That tells me everything I need to know. The relationship ends the second the paperwork is signed. They care about the transaction, not the customer. If you're shopping there, just understand that once they have your money, you may be on your own.

Very disappointed. An inspection for possible consignment got us an offer for $100. I admit the…read morecamper needed some finish work on renovations of removing the sink. They told us it needed more work than it was worth. We are talking a 10 yr old camper. Upon returning for camper we found the door hinge was "broken". Too bad the best thing going for them is nice phone staff who can get you to come in but the rest is a waste. Girl at the front counter let me stand there for almost 5 mins while she was tending to her phone and scrolling social media. Thank you for a wasted day, broken hinge and insult of an offer

I only became aware of this small regional chain in October while shopping them in Roanoke, Va. I…read morewas so impressed by their upscale inventory of outdoor clothes and more. So when I learned they had a store much closer to me I had to shop them with an agenda of purchasing a new vest. The store is located in Merchants Square and replaced was a long standing independent that was beloved, "The Craft House". That part is sad to learn. The sales lady Ally was over the top friendly when I initially called to ask about their brands and inventory of vest. They carry Duck Head which I was specifically looking at. She held a few sizes for me with low inventory. When I came in she knew who I was and pulled the two out to try on. The sizing chart for the Fremont style vest had me in a Large. They calculate weight and chest size. It was correct. Unfortunately no sales on this luxury brand. I browsed the store and found more and more to purchase for myself and gifts. The Cotopaxi backpack for my daughter heading to Europe this Spring seemed perfect. I'm draw to quality and they had all the best brands for outdoors. I also looked at a Patagonia coat and Vuori pants. Unfortunately not my size. I also looked at their socks and shoes. Love that they offer Feetures socks a total favorite. Also Blundstone shoes from Australia. Checkout of all my items was smooth on a card. My items have a generous return policy of 30 days. I will absolutely return again in the coming year. If there is one negative it's the price point.

Obviously you can buy all the stuff they have online somewhere. Having a shop willing to stock…read morethings and let me see them locally IS valuable to me--and I will buy from them whenever I can. The staff there are quite helpful and knowledgeable, and can make your time in there short and sweet. I did buy some things I shouldn't have, like some strange squeeze bags for lotions or stuff--that exploded on the trail. But, bottom line--it's a great shop with tons of gear. I like it and I hate everything pretty much.
