The store is small, a decent stock but nothing really spectacular. The prices are decent and the customer service is great. There were no old school Army fatigue pants, no jungle boots, no strong leather duty belts. Instead they had knock off cargo pants that lacked the double stitching or buttons and cost double what they should, regular hiking shoes at double the cost, no canteens and the staff didn't seem interested in helping or even knowledgeable about what certain things were. I prefer Army Navy stores where there are real vets who know what you are talking about when you ask for something, are happy to help, have lots of inventory, and have actual real MREs, real steel canteens for long hikes, real camo tens and rucksacks. They're ok for some superficial stuff but not what I was hoping for.

I don't believe Ghost Army sells any of the uniforms or guns though. We actually meant to go to a shop that's two stores down, but it was nice walking around and seeing the history behind all of the old war gear and uniforms they have on display. The two men working at the shop were very friendly and explained the history behind a few of the artifacts they had on display. Definitely recommend visiting if you're into historic military memorabilia! They have a bunch of neat items to look at!

I was really disappointed and decided to call the HQ in VA Beach. I was put in touch with Jen the director of their surfboard department and my experience was completely turned around. Jen was professional, listened to my plight and went above and beyond to make things right. She put me in touch with Chris the manager in the obx shop and he carried the torch to the finish line. While speaking to Jen I discovered that they try to use American made products and materials as often as possible. That they really care about their employees and have a deep bench of experienced people that have been with them for many years. WRV is a large company and after the email shuffle I was sure that I wasn't important enough for my problems to be addressed. Jen completely proved me wrong and made me feel that not only was I important as a customer but everyone that works for them and the community around our beaches and in the lineup are number one when it comes to their business. WRV has made a believer out of me when it comes to great people and a solid business model. I will be a lifelong customer after this experience.

The spacious counter is conveniently located in the center of the store. It's staffed with a plentiful number of knowledgeable employees who are both friendly & helpful. Our quest for the day was for a Norfolk City Permit for my sister's new kayak. Although the Lake Smith/Lake Lawson Natural Area is in & maintained by Virginia Beach, the waterway winding through it is owned by Norfolk & requires a permit. It's far more convenient than applying for one on line & having to wait for the stickers to come. The second purchase was to buy a new CG approved life jacket since my friend in CG reserves told me they were monitoring kayakers after recent accidents. Her previous use of my life jackets from the boat I sold was to use them as back rests. No can do anymore!! They had a supply but none that fit my sister. So we left with only the City of Norfolk boat (kayak) license & sticker. It's a convenient & a valuable resource for us to be able to obtain the permit quickly and close. The same can also be said for fishermen & those who frequent the nearby waterways, inlets & the Chesapeake Bay.
