Delta Ottawa City Center is located on Lyon Street, steps away from the Parliament building and a short walk to Byward Market and surrounding area. Service is good, with a warm welcome and goodbye, and check in process was smooth. Parking was a challenge. There is only one ramp open that is serviced by Impark and it seemed quite narrow. As other reviews implied, you need some serious training in curves and twists and you make your way down this rabbit hole. Coming out was a disaster for us, the parking card was creased after a few days and I managed to back up the line to get out until I got some help. Unfortunately, I transferred some of the issue to Delta as they are affiliated to the parking. Hopefully if you go you will have better luck! The view was limited to the top of the roof of the Concourse which was discouraging. The room itself was clean, but I assume due to COVID-19 measures no cleaning was done for the three nights we were there. No signage or explanation was provided. We could have asked, but meh. Overall a great location, good price and fast service with the clerk even giving us 2 bottles of water for the trip back. After signing up for a membership with Delta Hotels in Fredericton earlier this year, I jumped at the opportunity to stay at another one in downtown Ottawa. The experience was that good! This one didn't disappoint, other than being where it was (Ottawa), which makes things easier to understand due to the nature of government towns. We were warned that Ottawa rolls up the sidewalks after 6pm and they were not exaggerating. I asked about the hotel restaurant, for breakfast, as well as the lounge for an evening drink or two. "Oh, they aren't open" was the reply, "This is Ottawa, and the breakfast isn't being served either, until Thursday". Well, this was a Sunday/Monday so we were out of luck with anything being open in the hotel. So change of plans for a Sunday night. Stay in and watch TV basically doing what everyone else was doing in Ottawa. Good times, actually and it was fun ordering in and enjoying the super comfy Queen bed and panel TV with full cable, something to savor given that most of us are stuck with Netflix only. We took advantage of the indoor pool for a quick dip, with neat view of downtown from in there. Nice warm towels and the water was good. I read about the parking situation underground, and since the hippie van is over 6' tall, I was allowed to park in one of the few outdoor spaces which made it easy to come and go. The parking price was a couple dollars more than underground and they reserve your spot if you leave and then come back again. Nice perk with the membership at these hotels is the late checkout being free. 2pm was not a problem with the normal time being noon. So why not enjoy more TV and chill time before heading out? Recommended when in the area, as it was a few minutes walk to the Parliament buildings and Supreme Court to take in with all the splendor surrounding Canada's most important institutions. read more

This place has really gone downhill since I stayed here several years ago. Tired rooms and carpets. Ancient technology (not a USB port in sight in my suite). Not enough outlets in my "kitchen area"... you have to choose two out of four things.... and plug/ unplug accordingly. No food available in the hotel between breakfast and dinner (no.... The Tim hortons around the corner doesn't count). No room service (except breakfast). But by far my biggest disappointment was the pool and change rooms. The pools is so dirty you almost hit the wall before you can see it. And those nasty hair clumps appear suddenly out of the murk. The change room looks like something out of a 50s boxing gym... filthy and ancient. The garbage is overflowing and the dirty towels are all over the place and it's been like this since yesterday afternoon. And the bathroom was so dirty I couldn't use it. Anything else.... Well.... The parking garage is being renovated so it's a disaster zone. And it was noisy all night when they were working on it. The kids fun zone is nonexistent. The sauna is broken and locked. On a lighter note, the staff seems very friendly and helpful. But I won't stay here again. read more

Stayed at the Delta a few nights recently. The room looked and felt like a Motel 6. It could really use a refresh, and definitely needed new carpet and touch up paint at the very least. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk to the market, so not too bad a location. The breakfast buffet was excellent! Loved the scrambled eggs and cinnamon roll. Very good service through out, from front desk, and all the staffs in the lobby. When I was waiting in line to check out while the front desk is helping one other person, this concierge attendant walked by with a big luggage cart purposely stop by to offer to help take my card for check out when the front desk is busy. Very cozy clean Queen room. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of dust on the outside of the windows (maybe they are past due for exterior windows cleaning). The bed and pillows are medium-soft in firmness. There is a large quartz desk in the room with multifunction outlet (Ethernet, HDMI, components, speaker, VGA). The guest wifi connection is great with a stable throughput of 50mbps both download and upload. The underground parking fee is similar compared to other parking nearby, they can charge by the hour for the weekdays with a daily maximum. There is a flat $5 after work hours on Fridays, and flat $5/day in the weekends. However, if you want in and out privilege they will charge the maximum rate. In general, Ottawa Street parking is free at night till morning 6am on weekdays (some till 8am depends on where on the street). Street parking is mostly free in the weekends (depending on street). So if you arrive on Friday night, you can park on the Albert Street just beside the hotel free till Monday 6am. At this point the only thing that I maybe less satisfy is the "security deposit hold" that they put on your credit card, which it takes 27 days to clear after your check out date. read more

I spent the last couple days at a conference. It was held at the Delta Hotels Ottawa City Centre so most of the attendees stayed here. My bed was comfy! Because I was co-chair of the conference, my room was attached to a hospitality room (in case I needed the extra space) .. The hotel is downtown, about a 15 minute walk to Parliament Hill, etc. WIFI was free and it was speedy. The LIFT Resto Lounge is in the lobby and there are other restaurants nearby. Because I was attending a conference, all I ate "conference" food and it was good. My only complaint would be the elevators. There are four of them and they are slow. Apparently one got stuck yesterday for 45 minutes. read more

Spent a couple days in Ottawa and last time we stayed in the Marriott and this time I wanted to try a different hotel. The Delta is very modern inside and looks newly renovated, the rooms that we got were very clean and modernized as well. There is a bunch of connections for the TV that are built into the desk. The lobby is bright and spacious with valets and porters right at the front door, concierge is located just inside in the back corner. There is a well stocked gym and a swimming pool inside as well. There is also access to a Tim Hortons through the lobby which is open 24 hours. Next time I'm in town any hotel by the Marriott would be my first pick. read more

I spent couple days in Ottawa during my winter break. There is no doubt this is the best hotel ever in Ottawa. My room is very large on the high floor with a breathtaking views. There are no words can describe the services in there; it is the best I ordered food service for the next morning but it was unavailable over the holidays. However, they gave me 2 vouchers to eat breakfast at their restaurant which is very nice There also another thing happened that they were over charged my credit card because I booked on Agoda. But the service was great and so patience. Even I alrd back to the US they still tried their best to contact with Agoda to find out what's going on and give me the refund back. So, I highly recommend you guys to stay at this hotel during your trip in Ottawa read more

Efficient and amiable service made my stay at the Ottawa Delta Hotel really nice! Check in was smooth, the staff was kind, and the valet was quick and courteous. The room was comfy and inviting, with a good bed and lots of space. The technology is a little dated - like a businessman from 2006 would be in hog heaven with his DSL cable and HDMI inputs- but the things that matter are all there. Being a fan of the Delta brand in Halifax, we decided to make Ottawa our first stay in a Delta outside our home town. We were not disappointed. From what I understand, this property was taken over a couple years ago and totally renovated. We had a bit of a problem finding the entrance as there were renovations going on at the main entrance. After a couple tours around the block we did manage to spot the temporary main entrance on Queen Street. You might also want to be aware that Lyon is a one way street so coming from the airport you have to drive past it on another street and come back up on Lyon. We arrived on an early morning flight and, being a Delta Privilege member, we were able to check in at 8:00 a.m. This was a real bonus. I was able to use one of my Gold Privilege upgrades to snag a room in a Mode Club room were a continental breakfast was still being served. The lobby is huge, bright and very modern. The front desk staff very friendly and helpful, we were checked in quickly. I love the uniforms, turquoise golf shirts and black pants, casual but smart and made staff easy to spot. The room wasn't huge but nicely appointed and very clean. A little disappointed there was no mini fridge but I believe they are in some of the rooms so if you need one be sure to check. The bathroom was quite small but sufficient enough with a huge shower, no bath tub. We were on the 24th floor with a spectacular view of the Ottawa River and city. I was a bit surprised that, even being on the 24th floor, we were still hearing music & voices quite clearly from the pub across the street below. Thankfully I always bring ear plugs with me so don't know how late this went on. The Mode Club Lounge offers evening snack from 5:00 - 7:00 which we missed out on because we were on the road. We were able to have the continental breakfast which is good. I'm not sure what the Mode Club upgrade fee is but ask at check-in if it's available. Nice to be able to walk since driving downtown is crazy with all the one way streets. Really enjoyed our stay at the Delta, wish we had more than one night. I attended a 3-day conference at this hotel. The service and amenities are top-notch. The room was beautiful (will add a few photos). the washroom was a touch too small (with the door almost hitting the toilet bowl) but it was workable. The conference rooms and ballrooms were all spacious and the food was great. They serve Starbucks coffee and Tazo teas in the ballrooms but there is a Tim Hortons connected to the hotel lobby. I do wish that, as a group, we would have had the benefit of a deeper discount for our rooms but it was worth it: the beds are very comfortable and the rooms are spacious as well (so much so that they could expand the washroom a touch without sacrificing anything). I stayed there for a conference. When I arrived, my room was fully opened and it was located just next to the elevator. I asked for a new room and a room far from the elevator. The new room was in ***front*** of the elevators. I came back to the room, took it (even with the elevators, it was 10:30pm and did not want to waste time). Then, the internet was ***really*** slow. One minute to load a page. I mentioned that to the front desk which told me they can check my laptop (meaning: this is not our fault but yours). Then, as I came for a conference, there was 300+ people coming. There are 4 elevators for 15+ levels. There was so much people that you can wait several minutes to just get the elevator (and often you cannot go in the elevator since so many people are waiting). One elevator was broken (the hotel did not fixed it before having such a big event!). I then took the stairs but the exit is not marked. When you use the stairs down the the last level, you trigger the fire alarm. No kidding. Also, in the level we had the conference, the bathroom were closed for ... renovation! So, as they are planning an event with 300+ person on ONE floor, they did not even have a single working bathroom. Clearly a management issue. I then went for breakfast. There was oatmeal there with fruit. The sugar was so humid that it was solid and you cannot even take it with a spoon! The breakfast was supposed to be continental but the choices/options were super limited (e.g. only butter to go with your bread - guys, think about peanut butter, cream cheese, cheese - things we see in ***real*** continental breakfast). Not so appealing. Also, I went to the gym and the pool. When trying to follow the sign for the restroom and locker for the pool, you enter in the gym, which finally has the locker/shower. So, as you exit the pool wet, you need to go in the gym in a swimsuit to get into the shower. Finally, the shower did not have soap. Great. The walls are really paper thin. And the area is very noisy. So, it can be hard to sleep well there. I would avoid to go there and look for another location. The reception was clearly not helpful (want a place far from the elevator: they give you one IN FRONT of the elevator - the wifi is slow? This is the fault of your computer, not their wifi). The persons working there are very nice, the problem is rather the management: there are many things missing that are executed poorly (e.g. taking care of the security, making sure repairs are done before a big event). Having better management would probably fix a lot of these issues. read more

The staff was friendly but the hotel just doesn't cut it. Update things... like the bathroom kind of smelled like throw up. But that wasn't as stale as the room itself. Better luck next time. This hotel was until recently a Crowne Plaza and is under new management by the Canadian hotel chain Delta. A $25 million renovation is slated to begin this spring and the hotel really needs it. I give this a 3 star based mainly on the staff who were in fact more courteous an helpful than those I have encountered at 5 star hotels an resorts. The facilities are, to coin a word "ghettolicious". The front desk staff carefully explained all the hotel amenities and called up the moment we were in our room to ask if everything was all right an if we had any questions or requests. The person who delivered room service was polite and asked that we tell her if we should need anything else. The checkout person asked about our stay and offered to check us out later if it was more convenient for us. They were all to a person alert, focused, and snappily dressed. The "suite" was in fact two rooms with an open door between them. The dresser/TV stand was in the "bedroom" a dresser/TV stand with a brand new 42" flat panel TV on it. In the other room the identical dresser/TV stand had been converted into a sort of pantry with a fridge in it. The decor was badly dated - think 80's beige - and the ceiling no longer flat due to too many patch jobs. The tiny bathroom had a hollow core door that had wood veneer peeling off of it. The bathtub held about 30 gallons of water (to compare a regular tub holds 55 to 80 gallons). In short everything that was Delta was great, everything that was Crowne Plaza wasn't. I hope and expect that after the renovations are complete it will be as comfortable and comforting as the other Delta in Ottawa (1.5 blocks away around a corner). Until then, stay at the other one if you want to stay at a Delta in Ottawa. read more

Pretty excellent for a chain hotel. I have no complaints and everything about my stay was surprisingly seamless. Granted it was a work trip and I didn't have to pay out of pocket for this, but I was happy during my stay. this hotel is in a great location in downtown Ottawa, steps from the underground path (closest coffee and breakfast options on slater st) and about 5 min walk from Parliament and 15 to the market. Great if you're into a quieter stay but want the closeness to the happening spots. Its fully renovated and modern. Huge LG flat screen TV with a smart desk and hookup wires for your audio and video needs (like a computer to the screen etc) The best perk was the Philosophy bathroom amenities (men, bring them home for your wives or gfs). Although the bathroom itself was a bit small it was a good size for me. I would totally stay here again. read more

Delta on Lyon in Ottawa has made the strongest case against Airbnb yet - excellent customer service. While waiting in line to check in one member of the staff offered me a bottle of water and made some friendly conversation. At the front desk, they offered to upgrade my room from a queen to a long because one was available. They offered great tips and always had a smile on their faces. The bed was comfortable and the room clean, everything you would expect from a mid budget hotel. But this 5 star rating is dedicated to the staff there - so a big shout out to Scott and team at the front desk. Well done. read more

I'm actually surprised that this hotel only has 2.5 stars. The hotel was under construction when I stayed (1 night). That being said I don't spend much time in the lobby, so I didn't find it too obtrusive. The rooms were pleasant, the staff were very helpful, the shower was hot, the wifi was free, and they use philosophy products in the bathroom (score!). While I'm not sure that I could give this the out-of-this-world-can-I-live-here-I-love-it 5 start rating, there was certainly nothing wrong with my stay, and I would would definitely stay here again. The only downside to this hotel is its location. Ottawa is pretty dead at night, and this hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk to the Byward Market (a.k.a. the only place I have found with stores and restaurants open after 5pm). In the summer it is a lovely walk, but in the winter you would have to take a taxi as there is nothing to do at night in the area. Oh, and my TV remote didn't work very well. #firstworldproblems? Really enjoyed my stay here last week. I booked online via hotwire. Immediately upon exiting the cab I was greeted by a friendly and helpful staff member named Jeremy. The front desk were extremely accommodating and full of great tips. Every time I needed a cab Jeremy somehow managed to find me one in 30 seconds. He was great. I felt like all of the staff were 100% ready and willing to help me. My room was clean and modern looking. The bed was comfortable and I had a solid sleep. The room temperature was perfect (which is a problem I tend to have with hotels it seems). They stock the bathrooms with Philosophy bath products which are very high quality. I explored the hotel a bit, which is again, very modern and clean. The bar on the level above the lobby was really packed on a Saturday and some of the drinks people were drinking looked amazing. Same to the food. I'd not hesitate to stay here again. The rooms are worth the money, and the location is superb. My only complaint was that I was placed in a handicap friendly room as it was the only one they had, and the bathroom got pretty wet after I was done with it as there was no door from the shower area of the bathroom to the toilet area. Lovely hotel. We arrived fairly late and staff were great and helpful. Underground parking is $18 for 24 hour period, which worked nicely for us. The rooms were spacious, and clean. The beds were comfortable. The west end of downtown Ottawa is seemingly desserted on weekends. Our stay here was nice. They offered Philosophy toiletries in the bathroom. The decor in the lobby and the rooms is bright and modern. The gym could use some work. Some of the machines weren't working. The sauna was also mildly scary. Overall we had a great stay. This is the first time that I've stayed at this hotel, but it certainly won't be my last! My family had to make an unexpected trip to Ottawa and we chose to stay at the Delt, since it is pet friendly. We didn't arrive until midnight, but we had the good fortune of meeting The night manager, Tenesia. She was incredibly friendly, helpful and compassionate, and went out of her way to accommodate our family. We also met other hotel staff, who were equally friendly and service-oriented. The hotel room was quite elegant, albeit on a smaller side, but we had a beautiful view of Ottawa from the 23rd floor. The restaurant offers a wonderful buffet breakfast, which was delicious. This is a pretty nice hotel in the downtown area of Ottawa. Parking is either valet or in an adjacent lot, but it was kind of difficult figure out when I arrived. There is a bustling lobby and it has a great energy to it. The décor is pretty modern and a everything seems to be high quality. It is in the process of being renovated, so there is no pool or exercise room access at the moment. The rooms are on the small size, but nicely appointed. The walls are thin so you can hear what is going on in the room next to you. Also, the bathroom is made for someone who is about 5'1" - much smaller than what I am used to. The real stand out here is the staff - they are great! Upon checkin they made sure to answer all of the questions about the area and even threw in some extra coupons to use in the lounge. They were always cheery and made me feel welcome from the beginning. They have a solid executive lounge and Lift is a pretty good option for dinner. There is valet and affordable self parking just around the corner. I will try this hotel again once they are done with the remodel. read more

The room itself was very good. The bathroom was a bit tight and the water pressure wasn't great (we were on the 12th floor). but otherwise, the room was lovely. This hotel has the smallest bathroom I've ever had in a hotel. You literally have to manoeuvre around to get the door shut. They also were fixing the water system, which was okay because they gave us a lot of notice, but then after it was "fixed" the showers were really temperamental- either scalding hot or freezing cold. The meeting rooms were also tiny. Their setups for meetings don't consider the actual sizes of people and the things they'd need to conduct business. However, the food was great, and they accommodated dietary needs very well. The bar was great- comfy chairs, good atmosphere. Besides the bathroom, the room was awesome. Bed was decent, but the workspace was phenomenal.Great huge desk, every plug in type you can imagine. Also- iphone charging alarm clocks- Awesome! read more

Just returned from a three-night stay in Ottawa. We took advantage of a great deal on Groupon. We were pleasantly surprised to find that we were still given full service. My husband's Gold membership was honoured and everything was done to provide us with a free room upgrade. I was really impressed with the hotel and our room. Previous reviews complain about the decor however, my room had obviously been recently renovated. We had a two-room suite that had all new furnishings with two flat-screen televisions. The telephones were cordless the clock radio had a docking station and the desk was fully equipped with plug-ins for laptops etc...The hotel is also equipped with wireless internet. The only complaint I have is that the bathroom was VERY small and did not have a tub (shower only). We ordered room service twice and found it to be fast and typically over-priced but we had no other option at lunch as the restaurant has limited hours in the summer. The dinner buffet in The Lift restaurant ($18.99) was good. It was simple, consisting of Mac and Cheese, Ravioli, meatballs, spaghetti and vegetables. There was a soup, salad, fruit and dessert. Something other than pasta would have been nice. But since kids eat free (under age 6), the price was right. Interesting...Delta now filters and carbonates its own table water ($2.95 a bottle)! It was good. I also used the pool. Lots of clean towels available. My daughter loved the apples available at the exit of the fitness facility. The change rooms have yet to be renovated, though. Solid, reliable place downtown. Have stayed multiple times over the years. Service is courteous and prompt, perks are minimal. Rooms are comfortable and clean, if not immaculate. Location is okay, but it's not the Market. On the upside, it's not a loud area at night. Gym and pool are acceptable and close 10pm-ish. A decent go-to for business travelers. read more
