Lovely experience on a gorgeous day. Kathy was very helpful and flexible with picking a date and time that would be convenient for us as well as considering the tides. Yesterday on 5/29/2021 I reserved the Delta Kayak Adventures from 6-8pm. This was an AWESOME experience. This was my first time doing this and Kathy was soooo helpful and a very great and patient instructor. She took pictures of us so that she can text us the pictures for us to remember this experience. Kathy and Bonnie are the mother-daughter team that got our group off of land and onto the water a couple weeks ago. I planned a day trip and most of us were paddleboarding, but we had a few kayakers join in last minute too. What a beautiful day it was at the Antioch Marina. Especially once you get past the private gates that get you into the pier. Definitely don't use the public restroom. What a sh**house! But this team will let you into their private restroom if needed. The girls were so friendly and nice and didn't waste a bunch of our time with instruction, even though several of us had never done it before. They fitted us into really nice PFDs and very nice equipment, which they have plenty of!! It was a windy day on the water but that just made for better exercise. We went home tan and tone! There are lots of great places to kayak and paddleboard around here, but this one is close to home and has plenty of space around the boats and also on the delta, so there's somewhere for everyone to feel comfortable. Be sure to stop and check out the nearby RiverView Lodge when you leave for a drink or food. read more

Reservations were a snap, the young woman who helped was kind and gave basic instruction, their load-in thingie (that's the technical term) is great for those of us who aren't experienced kayakers, and the recommendation to visit the nearby Dow Wetlands was spot-on. I did two tours in 2 weeks, both at Dow Wetlands. The first was during the day, the second her sunset-full moonrise tour which was magical! I've rented kayaks from many places, and this one has the best entry-exit system with a little ramp right on the dock and bars to hold onto. Usually getting in or out of a kayak is awkward, but this setup made the process smooth. Who knew Antioch had such a nice marina? Kathy the proprietor meets you at a secure gate. Plenty of parking. A fancy restaurant nearby for later. The Dow wetlands is this little calm oasis right off the San Joaquin River. I just felt my stress melt away on the peaceful water. Lots of birds, a turtle, a peek at a river otter and a beaver. I liked being able to take a guided tour since I am not familiar with the Delta. Lots of places to explore, so I'll be back. read more

This is a review of the sunset tour. I have to say this trip was well worth it. The views are serene and the landscape takes you to another world. The guide Kathy is awesome, very full of knowledge, very friendly and personable, and passionate about her craft. The trip is great for beginners, intermediates, and advanced kayakers. In the beginning you'll meet at the harbor master's office, then Kathy will teach you the essentials of kayaking such as how to get in and out, how to turn, stop, signals, and many more tidbits im between. You'll start with a warm up in the marina to get comfortable then when you are ready that's when the fun starts. The scenery is beautiful especially at sunset, the water makes 90 degree plus weather feel like 70s, you will meander through many waterways and see lots of wildlife which Kathy will lead and point out. The sunset looks so much better on the water and it will be experienced in full. In conclusion you'll have a fun tour, great views, and leave with a sense of fulfillment. I recommend this to anyone who likes the outdoors, wants to appreciate their town, and those looking for a nice local adventure. My expectations were exceeded in all those. Had a fun time kayaking with Delta Kayak Adventures. The booking process was easy to navigate and all the paperwork was completed online, which saved us time when we arrived on-site. The entrance to the marina is located next to Smith's Landing Seafood Grill. We had to call the number when we got to the gate and a nice lady showed us to the kayaks a couple of minutes later. She went through a basic introduction on paddling techniques and even loaned us a pair of waterproof pants to keep our bottoms dry. The slips along the pier made the launch extremely easy and we were cruising through the water in no time. With the instruction we received, we went towards the blue statue- indicating the opening that leads to the San Joaquin River. The water was pretty choppy once we left the marina, but stay close to shore and you'll be just fine. We made a left immediately after exiting the marina and made it to the Dow Wetlands shortly after. It's such a peaceful place with the natural sound of birds and other wildlife. Recommend at least a couple of hours to fully soak in and enjoy the experience. read more

What a great experience. We decided to try out Kayaking yesterday. We reserved and paid for a tandem Kayak online the night before. We showed up the next day and found the place really easily and with plenty of parking. Went in and met with really friendly people who got us our life jackets and our Kayak. We were given basic tips and helped into our Kayak which was really easy, and we were on our way! We had a great time. The whole process was chill and easy. Easy to reserve. Easy to pay. Easy to get our stuff. Easy to get started having fun. Since it's an outside activity, really low risk in terms of Covid-19. This is the way it should be done. What are you waiting for? Kayaking in the river is probably something we all think "oh that's on my tentative list of cool shit I wanna do," but we never get around to doing it. Don't let river kayaking be that thing. Two weeks ago we decided to try the kayak rentals here and for two weeks straight we've made it a weekly thing (today it's about to become a bi-weekly thing). I'm so glad we did. She taught the group on the proper way to use the oars and have the kayak go in the directions that you wanted it to go. Kathy Made it Special. Kayaks were in pretty decent condition and the owner was polite and made it very easy for us to get going and return. This is a great place. I'm writing a review again because Yelp malfunctioned before and didn't save my review. Everything about this place is great, from arranging the rental, getting help on the phone, finding the place, easy parking, the equipment is top notch (especially the life vests - comfy, with pockets). Kathy's (i think that's right) very knowlegeable about where to go and makes sure you are properly trained before leaving the marina. I am a 67 year old fairly weighty woman who had a full knee replacement and hip replacement in 2020 and was concerned about getting in and out of the Kayak (everyone knows that this is the hardest part of kayaking!). Howverever Kathy has it set up so it was easy peasy - even for me. We were there in January of 2020 but hope to return real soon. Joan B. read more
