Came across this kayaking company via instagram and had to check it out. They were offering a full moon guided tour and I wanted in. Prior to excursion, my friends and I had to reserve a spot on their website. The initial tour ended up being fully booked, however, James the guide offered open up another day due to the moon tour being so popular. The meeting area was at the boat launch ramp area. We signed waivers and were given a run down on kayaking 101 (it was our first kayaking excursion) with 4 other people. The weather was warm, the waters were calm and the mosquitoes were biting. So don't forget to apply sunscreen and have plenty of bug repellent! Wear water shoes, bring snacks and water. Also, maybe bring a small fanny pack or water resistant bag to carry small items in. As we paddled, James checked up on everybody and made sure we were all doing okay. Along the way he informed us about the wetlands and what type of wildlife were around. James even provided us with his own bug repellent to use to keep the mosquitoes at bay. Once it was dark enough, we settled in an area of the wetlands to wait for the moon to rise. My friends and I were elated and in awe that we got to see the Harvest moon rise on the hills whilst kayaking. Kodak moment for sure. The journey around Suisun Bay lasted for about 2 hours. It was a cool experience, especially with the moon acting as our guiding light. My arms definitely got in a work out from paddling so much. Overall, great experience, reasonably priced and James was professional and informative. Highly recommend! read more

My brother and I really enjoyed kayaking! It was our first time and we only did it for an hour but James the owner was very informative, going over how to paddle & safety instructions. James was incredibly nice and had great customer service. In addition to the kayak, he also provides life vests, a map, and a great attitude. They also rent out free kayaks every earth day and coastal cleanup day and I appreciate them very much for that! Definitely coming back on those days.... exploring, kayaking, AND cleaning up the environment? I'm here for that. I would definitely go again & even try their stand up paddle boards, guided tours, and all that. Being a resident from Suisun, it was awesome being able to explore our very own backyard. My tips? Go in the morning, when it isn't too particularly windy. Also wear swim shorts if you can! My legs were soaked and next time I will be bringing swim shorts (my arms and torso were fine). We rented Kayaks for an hour with some friends. We booked in advance, which I'd recommend since it's a small company. Renting was super easy and James met us on time with all the equipment ready. He even provided us with a dry bag to keep our phones, keys, and valuables in. The one hour time was a good length for us for the small marsh and our experience level. read more

Very easy arrangements at the local boat ramp. Plenty of waterways to explore at a leisurely pace. Better price than some of the others I looked at over at Point Reyes. Note that the owner, James, has a key to the restrooms at the nearby Harbormaster's office, which is helpful if you arrive before the public restrooms are opened at the boat ramp. We arrived at 9am Sunday ... ya'd think they'd be open by then, and you'd be wrong. read more

James is the nicest person. Our family and I went kayaking yesterday and had such a good time. He was very helpful and definitely knew the Suisun waterways. The weather was beautiful however the wind was blowing which made it difficult to paddle in most areas of the water. We rented the kayaks (8) for 4 hours but came back early due to the winds. As far as I've seen, the only place in Solano that rents SUP (Stand Up Paddle) boards. The owner, James is super cool. Customer service alone is something that will keep me coming back. Although, all we rented was SUP boards, the equipment in his shop (mountain bikes & kayaks) were excellent in quality. I'm stationed on Travis AFB and while we have our own recreation rental place, James offers reasonable rates with other services that aren't offered anywhere else in the local area. Overall, Grizzly Waters Kayaking (GWK) is a great spot, we're glad we found em' on the Suisun waterfront. We got one of their tours on our radar. Keep it up GWK...Life's a garden, dig it! read more
