I have to say, I'm absolutely impressed with the staff at BBM. My MIL and I came for kayaking (last time we were here was easily 5 years ago). At that tome it was typical delta and nothing terrible. This time the property has been cleaned up and the staff member assisting us was so kind. Low tide, calm waters, air quality wasn't bad, and it was just a perfect experience. They've added a ramp for getting in and out of the kayaks which was so helpful to easily make the transition from dock to kayak and back. When we returned the staff member greater us and assisted me out. Then my MIL had a flair up of back pain and was unable to get out of the kayak. He helped us and was absolutely patient and so kind during this. He did not rush us off the dock to serve the next customers. This experience alone gives this business 5 stars.. everything else was a bonus. Thank you BBM! I will certainly be back!! (And so will my MIL once she's healed again). read more

I rented a PREMIUM KAYAK for 2 days (2 weeks in advance). Was instructed to show up 15 min early to sign the waiver only to find out the waiver wasn't available (so what's the point of putting a deposit down and reserving a kayak?). Manager apologized and said the next day would be free of charge. Showed up the next day and same problem, NO WAIVER. I drove up from San Diego (8 hours) to fish the legendary Delta and Big Break Marina single handedly ruined my fishing vacation. BTW, no one answers the phone, ever. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I used to love this place, but now that they are under NEW MANAGEMENT, they are completely terrible. They hardly ever answer the phone. I've been to the establishment multiple times during business hours & they are never on the premises. I placed a reservation online for kayak rental and went to the marina, only to be told that all of the kayaks were out for cleaning. I've been trying to redeem my reservation money for a week now & can't get a hold of anyone. I want my money back. I went & bought my own kayak so that I will never have be disappointed by their lack of customer service again. read more

Get off the couch and get on a kayak. Rented a couple of kayaks today and took the dogs for a lil time on the delta. Just showed up they rent everything you need. Close to home fun you can't beat it. If you live in the area you are close to a nice spot for kayaking and other watersports. Thanks again to the guys at Big Break marina. Very friendly staff that enabled us to easily launch our brand new (used) Kawasaki stand-up jet ski during holidays. The marina was very clean with a wide ramp enabling two boats to be loaded/unloaded simultaneously. Easy access to the waterways, however better signage could be used on the water to highlight hazards. read more

I went kayaking with three of my friends a couple of months ago. While we had a great time actually kayaking, the ending part of our trip just went awry. The water is not clear and somewhat of a swamp like, so we tried our best to go through the entire time without getting wet. However, when we were docking as we finished kayaking, the guy working there just pulled up my friend's kayak up the stairs (not even the ramp) with no care that he tipped the kayak over and my friend fell into the water. The guy didn't even apologize or acknowledge it. Luckily the rest of my friends and I jumped out of our kayak before the worker could try to pull us up... bad service read more

Came here for the first time last weekend Friday (7/8/17). Great & clean looking marina and friendly folks who run it. However the real reason I was motivated to write this review was what happened when I launched my Ranger boat. Unbeknownst to me it was a super low Full Moon tide and that coupled with me backing my trailer in a bit too deep left me skidding at the base of the ramp (rear tires 3/4 under water - my bad). Unable to get any real traction (not a 4x4) I was in a jam ... however after a quick call to Sean who manages to place (?) he sent over another BB Employee Paul who quickly hooked me up to his truck and up the ramp we went - total time from when I got stuck to being towed out ? maybe about 10 mins. I wanted to give Paul a few bucks for his trouble and he refused several times- told me it was his job and just to come back again. And with that kind of service yes I will! read more

Nice kayak, very clean facilities Poor business practices First off it's not very appropriate to burn loads of incense inside your business office. They don't take reservations even though we went there with a group. So hears where the real rub comes in Normally time and rates are adjusted to the quarter hour mostly in the customers favor . At 1025 am the associate tells me " your time starts at 1025" Ok cool So I return to the front desk at exactly 1hr 45 minutes to the second and he tells me " okay, your charge will for 2hrs, that's our policy" Wow After a little pushback he relented and only charged me for some random amount of time less than 2 hrs Very strange They also kept my drivers license; like our group of old folks are REALY gonna take off with some old rental kayaks My suggestion Extinguish the incense, forget about keeping the drivers license and adjust you rates to the 15 min mark in your customers favor Next time we will probably go elsewhere read more

I was renting out a room on this property. One out of six windows were working. The place that I rented was a fire hazard and was negotiated that it would be fixed. It was never fixed. I had to demand that they fix it due to the fire hazard. I also have an eight-year-old daughter. The place is sectioned off between this sliding glass door on the inside. On the other side of the sliding glass door is the actual person who rents the property from these owners. I have to go through his room to get to mine. Until my sliding glass main door was fixed which we discussed. Again let me remind you, they never fixed it until I had to stop asking and demanded. Two months later I'm was stuck in my room because the roommate decided to put a motion camera and it was just focused on my door. How disturbing is that? Would you like to have a camera just pointed at your door just waiting for you to come out? Well for a moment the landlord seem to agree with me that this is not appropriate. They gave us both notices. But I guess that they were just pretending because the original tenant still lives there. The same tenant who got drunk and started asking me about my sexual life. The same tenant who put up a camera that was following me where I lived. Thanks Big Break Marina! Thanks City is Oakley! It's actually illegal to live there too. read more

Place to launch your boat for $10. They also have storage in case you don't have room at home and want to keep it close to the water for easy access. The storage facility is not covered (open lot). Its a bit outdated but it does the job and like I said right on the water. read more

It was not a stressful launch - plenty of room for me to go back and forth up the ramp to get straight without a million people waiting and laughing like I was imagining! Very comfortable atmosphere. This place has come a LONG way. The new management as completely renovated the facilities and it's hardly recognizable from how it used to be. Easy to launch ($10) and great customer service. Not launching but running it on the trailer, most places would Charge you for just entering. Last night we called as the office was closed and they let us in, today we re-tested as it had a leak yesterday. It saved us a lot of time from having to drive further and saved money. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS! The business is unethical. My wife rented a space for her boat. After she moved her boat in, she realized how horrible the facilities were. It was dirty and very unsafe. The docks are missing boards, and you can't even walk in certain areas. When my wife told the owner Dave that the area was unsafe, he said there was nothing he could do. Wow! She gave him the required 30 days notice and we moved the boat within a week due to the horrible and unsafe conditions. That was two months ago, and he never returned our deposit. My wife talked to Dave several times and he keeps making excuses. He was very rude, and he obviously has no intention of returning our deposit to us. He was very rude and condescending to my wife specifically, and she felt very uncomfortable around him. I went in today to discuss why he hasn't returned our deposit, and he refused to speak with me and walked away. I don't take the time to write reviews of businesses very often, but people need to be warned about this guy and his business. Please do not do business there. The facilities are absolutely horrid, and the business practices are questionable. read more

It's a Marina , you get what you see! A decent launch ramp , $10 launch fees , parking behind a security gate. Its under new ownership and management as the previous owner let it go. Bathrooms and a covered picnic area are at the entrance. General maintenance is finally being addressed and the improvements such as the removal of the Byron's have taken place with others on the agenda. It's a great place to paddle and or take your small boat out of as it's on the corner of big break tract (an asparagus farm of several thousand acres that flooded in 1928) and is usually a downwind marina "easier to paddle back to at the end of the day". If you are Unable or UN-willing to reference charts don't bother launching from here. There are water hazards just like the rest of the delta. There is a 80 ft tug boat that regularly accesses the DuPont shipyard next door through the channel that leads out to the San Joaquin River.If they can do it I'm not sure why others are have problems? The new management staff is very family friendly people type folks , very much in contrast with the departing management. Give the place a try. Go their to enjoy a sandwich or take a short hike down the break. Theirs an kayak rental place on the property as well if you want to get out on the water. read more
