Well I've spent over $1k in this shop over the past month because I want to support a local business (not many hobby/RC shops around anymore). Today, I wanted to return a $31 LiFe hump pack as I decided to go with a 2S LiPo pack for HV servos. The battery was open box, but never charged, never used, essentially brand new except for the tape seal having been cut. The act of opening the box breaks their return policy and my request was rejected. No one told me about this detail in their return policy during my conversations with the parts counter employees or at the register. Needless to say, I'm disappointed enough to write a review. I've recently been visiting all the 'local' hobby shops to Oakland as there are no hobby shops in Western Alameda County (Albany to Fremont). On a Friday afternoon I decided to check out Delta R/C, which on a good day is a 35-40 min drive from Oakland. Expectations were not high as their website seemed outdated, didn't list current info about events, and they had no online storefront. However, I was more than shocked by what I saw when I arrived: Largest brick/mortar store I have found, extensive parts department, indoor track and micro crawler course onsite (more race courses across street at fairgrounds). Staff was friendly, esp. Kristin at the front register. Also, found out about some events next day that I attended (just wish it was on website). I think Delta will become my 'home hobbyshop' but just wish they had an online store so I could peruse their inventory before making the 40+ min drive. read more

Went in with a ton of questions after not having had interest in RC, since I was a kid, due to the high cost of the hobby... then I discovered that the smaller scale RC have scale down costs associated with them! I asked my questions and Anthony & Chico really came through with all of my rabbit hole questions I lead them through. Customer service was top notch! Selection even better! After listening to my questions and showing me a ton of models for my questions... lol, I came away with the first unit they showed me. They really listened when I came in. Ended up with an Arrma Mojave Grom Blx. Super happy after playing with this thing at the skate park. I do not recommend doing business with this store. They are not honest. They have poor product knowledge. When they sell you the wrong parts they blame it on you and say you gave them the wrong information even when you bought the product there. They don't stand behind their products if they fail even if it is the same day you purchased it! They overcharge for the cars they sell that go on their indoor track. The worst customer service I have ever seen. The employees all have attitudes and act like they are better than you and your wasting their time. Really sad to see!!!!!!!!! read more

Our family loves this place! Knowledgeable and helpful staff, huge inventory & has multiple indoor tracks and soon to be outdoor bash playground. Mostly cars and trucks but have a good variety of boats and planes. We definitely support this place and although online is the norm now, getting the personal experience and physically be there for tech support and shopping is a world of difference imo. read more

Super awesome people in here! Very helpful and knowledgeable! The staff has been all smiles every time I come in and make it easy to ask questions no matter how pointless my questions may seem. I've been out of the RC loop for 10+ years and they made it easy to dive back in head first. The gentleman helped me get my car up to standard so I could get it on the track! Seems like every time I pop in, I leave with additional knowledge that I can apply to my current setup. The indoor tracks are carpeted and have just the right amount traction(or lack there off) to drift on. Shaking off the rust has certainly been a journey, but the staff here has been more than accommodating to me. My friends and I will certainly be coming back! read more

Went in looking for tires for an old bullhead. Asked the "kid" behind the counter and pointed to an aisle and says look for the 12 mm hub. The aisle was full of tires. I asked again being confused and a little overwhelmed at how many wheels and tires, but he couldn't be bothered to get off his little stool. Went back him and said I don't want wheels just tires and then he said no we don't have any that will fit. What a joke. I'm in retail and this service is a good way to lose business, sure lost mine. My son was ready for a new RC car as he had proven his skill set to me on his 1/18 scale. I was also ready to get a new plane for myself. I am so used to simply ordering online and getting my packages in the mail but this time I went to a local hobby shop. I was so please to see all that they had to offer off-the-shelf and also get all the accessories I needed. Furthermore, the gentleman Craig was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions I had. I walked out of that shop with everything we needed for both the car and plane. just now Very poor customer service and information provided to their customers. My 10 year old daughter and my husband went into this business to purchase a new RC car with her Christmas money. She purchased a beginner car for $160. My husband asked about the charging mechanism and was informed that it would only take 1-4 hours to charge. We came home, and opened the instructions and it states each charge takes 9 hours, once discharged completely. We called and spoke with the owner and asked if we could exchange it for a more EXPENSIVE car that would take less time between uses and we were told no, because we opened the box we need to purchase a charging pack. What a disappointment and a joke. Would never recommend this place given they don't even know about their own products. read more

DO NOT COME HERE if you need anything repaired! We wish we would've read the previous reviews before sending our RC here. We sent it in and didn't hear anything and after a week of following up, they said they didn't get to it. When it was all said and done, they put the wrong parts in and after "troubleshooting," they couldn't figure it out and told us to send it to Traxxas. It gets better. They charged us over $50 for not doing anything to it and when we spoke to the guy, he even had the audacity to give us an attitude when we asked for a discount. Poor customer service! By the way, his name is Craig and he is dry with no personality and no customer service skills. I know you're in the back "trying" to fix stuff, but obviously you're not doing your job well and you still should be trained to interact with customers. This place is a cool concept and one of its kind, but I don't see the longevity of it if they don't know what they're doing and if they don't have any customer service skills. It's too bad because we like what it has to offer. When it comes to getting the job done, they just don't make the cut. It's like sending a car to a mechanic and they have no idea what is wrong with the car, but still wants to charge full price...but usually mechanics know what the issue is and is able to provide you with an answer. read more

I go into Delta R/C around 4 times per month, and I've done that for the previous 9 months straight. High performance R/C vehicle parts break, and new ideas are born, so there's always a reason to go. I own an 1/8th scale Kyosho Inferno VE race buggy, 4 RC airplanes, 7 micro scale to 5" FPV race drones, $1000s of dollars of misc equipment, and the 50+ batteries it takes to power it all, and it was all purchased from Delta R/C. I've only ever had delightful experiences with Craig and Kristen, and they keep me loyal and coming back, week after week. I see some sharp shooting critics complaining about repairs and battery returns, so let's talk. Please show me any battery return policies, at any store, that include returning opened packs, or charged batteries. Doesn't exist. They're little bombs, regardless of what happened, post-seal breach. Nough' said. It's not reasonable to expect such service from anyone, anywhere. Repairs....? Ok friends. The good RC toys break, not just a little bit, but at the rate of about 1 hour repair, for one hour of pack time, or just slightly more reliable, in terms of maintenance to air time, than an F-16. High performance machines shatter parts. High performance motors annihilate batteries, shear transmissions, and send your vehicle frequently over 50mph, Even 100mph! It's going to break. A lot!!! You have to be able to fix, replace, and rebuild the entire vehicle, because eventually you will, many times over. It's not like I'm a skilled, experienced modeler, either. You just have to do it, if you're going to love the hobby, long term. Sometimes you have to pull it apart several times to get it right. It's frustrating. Do it anyway. I can't speak to DRC's repair services directly, but if you smash your high performance toys (you're not advancing, if your not pushing it...), and then turn to another to uncrash it for you, then you'll probably not be satisfied very often, with the speed and quality of another's work. That's not how hobbyists behave..... This is our last RC shop, in ECC. Give it all the love you can. read more

Hi, the people here are supper nice. Unfortunately the older lady at the front desk appears to always have a unpleasant tone in her voice. I came in with my youngest daughter few weeks back trying to figure out a correct charge for her RC car this same lady in fact recommended this same charger I went back to return due to it not being correct she did not honor my return with my receipt in hand. The cashier lady state the box has been open we can't accept this. But yet she was the same lady that sold and recommended this charger. With out a word as disappointed I was I left the charger there and walked out. We're is the consideration of a simple conversation to explain in more detail why I was not able to return the charger. What a great place! They are fully stocked with different accessories needed to repair and have a good collection of cars, droids, helicopters, planes etc. My husband kept his RC cars from his childhood and found this place and was able to purchase replacement parts. Now our son wanted to buy his very own. We went today after he researched with my husband which one he wanted and could afford from bday money. When it came time to purchase, we worked with very helpful, informative employees! He was very kind and so detailed to explain the difference between some of the items that we weren't sure about. He carried our items to the cashier for us. At the end, the cashier rang up the items and since this was my son's purchase. Our son needed to count the money from his wallet. (Took more than 5 minutes) The cashier was extremely patient with our son, allowing him to go through all of the bills to make his purchase, handed him the receipt and change. He even said have fun with your car leaving my son with a big smile and excitement as we left. Such a great experience and we are so thankful for the kindness and help. read more
