I originally hired JW to do a roof replacement. On that end everything went exactly as one would…read moreexpect. They had my roof replaced in 2 days and the craftsmanship was definitely acceptable. I then contracted JW to install new gutters, paint my home, replace my windows, and remove the popcorn from my ceilings. This is where the trouble started. When they came to install the gutters they installed the wrong color on 50% of the house. Those gutters had to be removed and the correct color installed. This added an additional day to the job. For the windows, I asked them not to replace a window in my garage, as I didn't see it as necessary. The garage is not temperature controlled and the window was fine. When their team showed up to replace my windows, the garage window was the first one that got removed. As they removed it they destroyed the old window, so they obviously had to install a new one, even though I never wanted that particular window to be replaced. I was assured by the contractor that I would not have to pay for that particular window as it was a mistake on their part. When the invoice came they did in fact charge me for that window. The interior job was quoted as 3 to 4 days. It took their crew roughly 3 weeks to do half of the home, and the job they did was far from acceptable. Add to that their inability to show up at a specified time (one day they would show up at 7:00 in the morning. The next day would show up at noon). At to that complete lack of communication from the contractor regarding showtimes and the entire endeavor became an exercise in frustration. If you want your roof replaced, this is a good company. Do not use them for any other service. If it is not a roof, it is outside of their wheelhouse

We no longer have to with Whipple Roofing. Stan is always (!) one text, email, or phone call away (which is more than I can say about my insurance company regarding my April 26 hail storm claim). I told a Liberty Mutual manager it's embarrassing when the roofer becomes your source of policy information and not your insurance company. Yet also your gift as Stan is more than willing, and capable to kindly, and with great patience walk you through this confusing and challenging process. In the end, yours is an aesthetically and structurally superb roof covered by a consumer-oriented contract and warranty that I suspect is superior to this area. Also, as Stan says they aren't going anywhere (even my last roofer, Home Depot, has quietly folded their roofing division). I believe him and am thankful to the Lord they aren't.

If I could give zero stars, I would. We had our roof replaced and they seemed to do a great job. We…read morepaid extra for flashing - $500+. The first rain storm, water poured in around the chimney. It caused damage to the ceiling around the chimney. The sheetrock bubbled up and water was dripping down. Antonio came and got up on the roof and ran a hose and he could see the water pouring in. He sent someone to caulk around the chimney. It was understood that he would fix the interior damage. We waited to test with windy rainstorms to make sure the caulk worked. Roll the clock forward - we called a couple times to get the interior work done and finally got to speak with Antonio. He is insisting that the interior damage was always there - before he put the roof on. He is basically calling us liars. He also said that he does not fix interior damage. He only fixes the roof if there is something wrong. So if the flashing they installed did caused leaking and damage due to an error in their work, you are out of luck. We did probably wait too long before pushing the issue. I would understand if he said too much time had elapsed, but instead, he proceeded to argue with us that the damage was already inside before the roof and flashing job. Shame on him.

Antonio came out in the pouring rain to meet with me and to talk about his company. He came back the following day to do what he does to put together a quote. That was a Thursday. On Monday I had the quote in my email box and was pleasantly surprised. May River Roofing provided two quotes with the difference being the warranty. They also provided the detailed list of what they would do covered under the contract and which items wouldn't be covered. Everything seemed to be very reasonable. They also noted that they had carpenters on the team if there were any structural issues. As luck would have it, the crew found various areas that were suffering from wood rot. This is to be expected in a 27 year old wooden home close to the beach. Obviously these issues had to be addressed. My concern was the additional cost over and above the roof contract. To my surprise the final invoice showed that May River Roofing is true to their word. The additional cost of repairs was much lower than I anticipated. All in all, the crew completed the job in its entirety in a day and half. They did such a good job that a group of my neighbors came over to find out more about the company. Oh, and walking my property after they had cleaned up and left I found one nail and a piece of shingle that may have been 4 inches long. These folks are professionals.
