Came her on my first night and ended my last night here, as well. It was by complete accident that I found Deminka. I asked my hotel where I might find a decent pub. There was pointing somewhere, and I headed to where I think I was told. Turns out I was lost on a cold winter night and ducked into Deminka. The place was rocking on a Thursday night. There was an area of tables in front of the bar, which was apparently all taken. I asked a passing server if there were any seats for one person anywhere. I was told to go up the stairs and someone would serve me. I found a table meant for four people and sat there and waited. The first thing I wanted was a Pilsner. I simply said Pilsner and was given a Pilsner Urquell. It was cold, had the traditional creamy head and was delicious. I ordered the fried veal, with potato salad. I then ordered another Pilsner and repeated that order two more times. The meal, the beer, the experience was fantastic. I stumbled back to my hotel in the cold snow. On the last night, I wanted to go back again. I was asked if we had reservations. I had not noticed a way to make reservations on their website. I assume you are to call, who knows? The restaurant is part of a hotel, maybe you call the front desk. Anyway, I was not sent up the stairs this time. I was sent to another room, I called the annex. The atmosphere was not as lively or fun, but it was fine. I ordered something called Sausages in Black Beer. I later found out this is a traditional Czech pub appetizer best eaten with a cold beer in hand. I also had the cabbage soup, which was very good. That sausages in Black Beer though! I have been trying to find the recipe ever since I returned home. PM me if you have it! This is a restaurant that everyone should try when visiting, but figure out how to make a reservation to avoid the annex room. read more

Best taps in Praha 2 and excellent food. The waiters were helpful and it had recently just had some Reno work done.

Thanks to other Yelpers for helping us find this place. Beautiful spacious room with a gorgeous ceiling- looked to be from turn of the century. The bathrooms were really nice too. It's not 5 stars as the smoking inside was a turn-off. But we got wonderful service and all wait staff spoke English and where great about explaining unfamiliar menu items. They were a bit slow with getting cutlery so we just grabbed the cup of cutlery from another table. We ordered chicken wings as starter and this came with carrots and cucumber (instead of celery). These chicken wings were delicious as was the dip that came with it. We also got wonderfully hearty rye bread with the pork crackle pate. I ordered the wild boar with rose hip sauce based on the waiter's recommendation and throughly enjoyed it. I had never eaten wild boar before and this fulfilled my secret desire to eat like Asterix and Obelix! So I also found it tasted gamey like goat and unctuous like duck. My dining companions orders goulash which they enjoyed. The meat was cooked perfectly and it was a rich sauce. The red onions provided some acidity and the potato dumplings were hearty and really stuck to your ribs. Another dining companion scarfed down his chicken schnitzel so all in all great food! I also really recommend getting the vanilla ice-cream for dessert - it's great quality I've cream and we were really amazed by unusual taste and puzzling to figure out what the tastes profiles we were encountering. Amazed to find it was pumpkin seed oil and caramel solids. Would totally recommend this place. read more

TL;DR; Don't go there if you want to be treated like shit. I've been to this place a couple time, it was ok, however this time it was simply awful. The guy who was serving us was very rude and provoking. At one point we wanted to order some food, instead, we were served with a bill. Which is strange, but when asked for another order they became very aggressive and refused to serve us. When confronted they became a bit more normal. read more

Great Czech potato chips. Comes with 3 dipping sauces (i liked the sour cream one, but not the bbq or Asian one). Beef tartare was pretty good, but not the best. Potato mushroom soup was meh. My partner enjoyed his goulash. The prices are decent. The atmosphere is incredibly smoky- even in the "non-smoking" section. Coughing up a lung. And I seriously stink. This was my first restaurant experience in Prague when I stayed here recently and can confirm that it is a restaurant that offers a good and varied selection of Czech specialties. After we had our orders taken by the english speaking wait staff, we were given a basket of bread and some pork fat spread as an appetiser. It was definitely something to try whilst you're here! For mains I had the Goulash with two types of dumplings and my friend had the roast neck of pork with cabbage and dumplings. Both excellent quality for the price (around £6). One thing to note is that there is quite a bit of second hand smoke that reaches you even in the non-smoking section. read more

Yelp came through for us today as we were looking for a charming local and authentic restaurant to get good beer and food. We found it at the Deminka. Service was excellent and the waiter was friendly and recommended excellent food, drink and desserts. The price was so reasonable the bill had me questioning if the server missed some items. Staying in Prague for 3 weeks we wanted to make sure we had a true "czech food" experience. Deminka was recommended by our apartment host, and was in the neighborhood. We went on a Thursday evening around 8:30pm, it was fairly crowded, which we took as a good sign. We sat in the bar area, but there is also a non-smoking area of the restaurant, although we are non-smokers, we stayed in the bar area to get more of the "experience" as it appeared more vibrant. My husband and I were trying to select something from the "czech specialties" section to ensure we has this "food experience". Since our waiter knew fairly good English we asked for a recommendation and therefore tried the wild boar and sirloin. Both dishes were fairly similar- overcooked, dry meat in a bowl of thick gravy sauce and some bread slices. It's no wonder beer is consumed like water, to try to wash your dinner down! It was "ok". The wild boar sauce had a "mole" flavor and the sirloin had a more sweet flavor. Very heavy dishes, so portions can be shared if two modest eaters and wanting to try an appetizer or salad together. Don't be fooled by the stamp they put on the bill "service not included" as it's a tourist trap. Service is actually included. Tipping in Prague is not a social standard/norm and therefore it is only expected of tourists to get caught up in this. If tipping, a few czech koruna (ie., 10, 20) is suffice. Also, if paying the bill via credit card do not add the tip this way as it could go to the "house" and not the actual server (that is, if you tip little to anything at all). read more

Bad food & services. Waited 45 minutes for a salad and it was almost inedible. Covered in mustard dressing, more of a soup than a salad and the chicken was over cooked. The place was empty so there was no excuse. Its quite expensive as well. I definitely would not recommend eating here. Go else where. Fyi they have wifi but does not work if you sit outside. read more

Never visit this place. Did not let us in at 11:57 AM (opening at 12PM) cause while outside was fuckin storm and after denying us for 3 times we left. Waiters were horrendous. read more

While on our honeymoon, we checked into the Deminka Palace Hotel, where they stated that there was a restaurant and bar attached to the hotel. Naturally after we unpacked we decided to check it out for dinner. My husband had the roasted duck with dumplings while I had the roast sirloin with cream sauce. Both were cooked to perfection, tender and juicy. The cream sauce with my meal was so flavorful with such a rich texture that I had to trouble putting my fork down when I was full. The staff was friendly and expeditious! Would definitely recommend! read more
