We spent two nights at this venue. The location was convenient regarding the time we spent in Denali National Park. That was one of the few positives associated with this place of lodging. We stayed in a room where the height of the carpeting impeded the easy operation of the door. The bed was too large for the size of the room so there was no place for a nightstand to place your glasses or a bottle of water. There was very poor connectivity in the room. The room lighting was poor restricting reading and other activities to a small area near the window. Also, the interior of the venue was not traveler friendly. There were too many stairs to access bedrooms which required carrying your luggage to your room or pulling your roller bags up sets of stairs. The bottom landing of the main floor staircase was not flush with the floor which required visitors to step over the landing (think safety issue). The breakfast was mediocre at best. The proprietor (the father) had a smug and condescending style of communication. The first morning I was there, I awoke early and sat in the living room area working on a crossword puzzle. I peered outside and saw the proprietor urinate on a tree in the yard when he was letting the three dogs (one yappy and unfriendly) out for their morning business. He next appeared in the kitchen to start preparations for breakfast. Did he wash his hands? Needless to say, I only ate items prepared by his son Bart who was very personable. read more

Car rental quote was not honored. Owner stated that his wife made a mistake and that the correct price was an additional $120. Even though we are spending almost $2k for 2 rooms for 2 nights and an SUV rental; they still charge you $50 to pick you up at the train station (about 10 miles away) and another $50 to take you back. We arrived during a hot spell (temps in the mid 80's) and there is no a/c. Second floor rooms were incredibly hot and the small fan did little to cool things down. After spending many days in b&b's in Ireland, this place needs to research how they do breakfast. They served over cooked eggs, microwaved sausage, dry croissants, expired milk in the coffee bar, etc. The house itself is very nice and the location is very good but that's about it. read more

Ann and Terry have clearly put their heart and soul into making the Dome Home special. As soon as you walk in, you feel a level of comfort you will never find in a hotel. They have a common area with complimentary beverages and snacks as well as entertainment, with DVDs of your favorite movies, documentaries of life in Alaska, and shelves and shelves of books. We came in the winter, so we were the only guests for the couple days, but they still pulled out all of the stops. Breakfast and dinner was made for us and included fresh salads and berries despite it being the middle of winter. They also provided transport to and from the airport, which was immensely appreciated with the icy roads. With 30+ years of local knowledge, they regaled us with amazing stories of life in Alaska and some of the interesting challenges they face living in a remote area. We came in the winter for a dog sledding trip, so they helped get us where we needed to go. In the summer, they help coordinate a variety of activities or know exactly who to talk to if you want to go rafting, ziplining, or hiking. As far as the rooms: the beds are comfortable and warm, the bathroom has plenty of spare towels, and they provided a space heater in case it got chilly at night. The room we stayed in had skylights where we could see the Northern Lights if they came out without having to go outside. The rooms seem well insulated and very quiet at night. I would recommend the Denali Dome Home to anyone looking for an easy, comfortable place to stay while visiting Healy and the Denali National Park. read more

We stayed here in August of 2015 and enjoyed it a lot so it was our first choice again. Nothing has changed. The grounds are beautiful. The hosts are welcoming. We are moving on tomorrow after just one night but if you are staying several days in Denali, we would recommend it highly. It is about 15 minutes north of the main entrance of the park but it is out of the hustle and bustle of the town about a mile north of the 49th State Brewery. Breakfast is 1st quality and the hospitality is like staying in your best friend's home. They also rent cars so if you are coming in on the train, they will pick you up. It is not the least expensive place you will ever stay but the prices are comparable to other alaska B&Bs of similar quality. read more

The place is very clean. The breakfast was delicious. Everyday, we had a choice of eggs, French toast, pancakes, and waffles. There was always some meat, fruit, coffee/tea, and some bread products. Their Scottish Terrier is super friendly and the boys enjoyed playing with him. Ann was super helpful in planning our trip and organized our bus, train, fat truck tour, and transit bus. In early June 2008, I traveled with my family to visit my brother in Anchorage, before we continued on to Denali for several days. My parents and brother had already made advance reservations to stay at the Denali Dome Home in Healy, approximately 12 miles from Denali National Park. I had just recently been laid off and felt the need to be with my family for emotional support, but we weren't sure if the reservation could be altered to allow for one more in the party. After calling, the Millers were not only able to accommodate me, but they also made me feel very welcome. Each room at the B&B is cozy, clean and nicely decorated with plenty of Alaskan touches, along with a phone and a clock radio. The private bathrooms in each room are modern and spacious with plenty of towels, soaps, shampoo, conditioner and lotion, cotton swabs, a hair drier, and occasionally a magnified mirror. I've traveled a lot for my previous job, and even some of the nicest hotels I've stayed in aren't that well stocked. :) In the closet, you'll find a very comfy, plush, fuzzy robe that will keep you plenty warm no matter what the season. Our rooms also had a TV and VCR to watch movies from their extensive collection in the living room (located in the main area of the house). Plenty of books on the area and for leisure reading were also made available both in the rooms and in the main/common area of the house. WiFi internet access is also available throughout the entire house. The living room was beautifully decorated with leather sofas, throw rugs, a table and chairs, a TV with VCR, and a wonderfully large, stone fireplace. A cabinet was fully stocked with an amazing assortment of hot cocoa, cider and tea, with mugs and spoons on the top. I could imagine it being a relaxing way to end the day in the chilly autumn or winter - drinking something warm and cuddling up in front of the fire. Included with our stay was a full, cooked-to-order breakfast each morning, and home-made chocolate chip cookies throughout the day. Juice, coffee, Mrs. Miller's wonderful cooking and great conversation with other guests made for a great way to start the day. The Millers also have two Scottish Terriers as official four-legged greeters. On our stay, we were fortunate enough to meet one of the two, Raven, who had just become a new mom to two puppies five days before our arrival. Raven was wonderful to be around during our time there and temporarily filled the hole left by our Scottie, who passed away in 2002. We felt so honored that she also allowed us to meet her new babies. All in all, my family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Denali Dome Home. Our hosts gave us wonderful tips about the area, and a great experience while we were up in the area to see Denali National Park. Not only would my family and I highly recommend it to others visiting Denali, but we also look forward to another stay in the future. read more

Extremely nice and helpful family company. While enjoying a 7 day cruise and then enduring a 11 hour train ride from Whittier to Denali, my wife and I wanted to explore the area on our own and found "Keys to Denali" auto rental located at the Denali DomeHome in Healy. They came and picked me up, went the short drive back to their home (incredibly gracious) where I completed the paperwork and drove away. Unfortunately after a couple hours I got a flat with a nail in a tire...instead of me changing the tire they brought me another vehicle IMMEDIATELY and handled it so we could maximize our time at Denali. How cool is that? We drove through Denali after the tour groups had left and captured beautiful photos of a moose with two calves and saw a beautiful grey wolf! We truly appreciate all they did for us, and obviously recommend them. Fine people! read more

This is the best bed-and-breakfast I've ever stayed in. Our room was comfortable and quiet. Every accessory was provided including some I would not have thought of. Everything worked. Our bathroom was clean and attractive with every linen, tissue, lotion, shampoo and conditioner provided. There were several separated spaces for guests who wanted to commune with others or be left alone. The location is great. You won't have 2000 tourist buses rolling past you as those do who stay in Glitter Gulch. You will feel like the individual you are, not one of the hordes. I feel strange being the only person to give Dome Home a negative rating, but the fact is that the three of us were pretty uncomfortable throughout our 2-night stay. At no point did Terry or Ann introduce themselves to us - in fact, Terry appeared to be giving us the cold shoulder the whole time we were there. Here's one example: at breakfast our first morning, they never greeted us nor welcomed us to serve ourselves (another group was similarly confused by this - we ended up standing awkwardly for about 5 minutes before seating ourselves and just getting started). The second morning, we had to leave at 7 a.m. to catch a bus into the park, and Terry was reluctant even to leave out a cold breakfast before we departed since they don't offer food until 7:30. Terry also gave us some inaccurate information about when the roads had construction work, which threw off our schedule for the day. That said, it's a gorgeous property with two adorable dogs and an extensive movie collection. We were also lucky enough to stay in a triple our first night that has its own private sauna - very cool! I'm sure that when Terry and his wife are on their "A" game, it's a great place to stay, but we unfortunately didn't experience that during our visit. read more

Please be warned before you stay here. We arrived by train from Anchorage, AK into Denali train station. We were met by one of the B&B owners Terry. We had rented a car from Denali Dome Home where we were staying. Terry the owner, put paperwork in front of me and said "sign here". He did not explain what I was signing other than I had to put my initials there because if I wrecked the car it would be my fault (no kidding right?). No explanation of paperwork. Did not go over anything regarding the car or verifying we both saw where the gas gauge was. Every time I have rented a car they always look over the car with you before you go. I also never had a full gas tank when I started out. I should have taken a picture for proof it was not full looking back on the situation. It was slightly off full. I figured I would return it just as I found it and everything would be okay. WRONG. As soon as our stay was over the owner got in the car to drive us back to the train station. He said the gas is not full. Looking back I should have spoken up. His mood can go either way where he is either really nice to you or acts annoyed with you. He stopped by the gas station. My husband got out with him to put our credit card in reader at the pump. He filled the car however when the gas pump shut off he proceeded to keep pumping and pumping until he "stuffed" the gas tank full so that he could get the car to the train station and still have it look full for the next guests. Also there is not itemized bill that you get from this B&B, they quote you one price and then its a different price when you get there and they do not honor the prices they give you via email. For one of the owners being a teacher, the bookkeeping is horrible. Nothing printed about the charges for the car. They just asked for a credit card and it prints out a receipt with just the price and a place for the signature. They told us that because we called the year before that now because it was a new year the prices had changed. Claiming to be a reputable operation, wouldn't one update customers with new price information? It felt like they were hoping you didn't notice so they could make a few extra dollars. They have a mini bar in their house and it has a list of prices. It operates on "honesty". If you want others to be honest, I think these owners should first look at themselves to be honest with pricing and not nickel and dime customers for whatever they can get out of them. Apparently this is how they make their extra money. It seems like the focus at the B&B is always take your shoes off and come in and shut the door quick because of mosquitos. I can appreciate taking your shoes off because I do this at my house as well. This was their main focus as we arrived and seemed to be their only concern. Under the section room features it says the rooms have black out curtains. Neither of our two rooms had "black out" curtains. There was light coming right through all night because we stayed there in the summer. Bring your eye masks if you are used to it being dark. The nicest people at the B&B were the cleaning staff. They were so friendly. There was a man and woman. He offered to help us with our luggage and anything that we needed as we were leaving. I do have to say that this B&B was very clean, awesome job to their cleaning crew. I should have read the negative reviews before staying here. My mistake. However everything that the negative reviews had to say on Tripadvisor was a lot of our experience. A leopard doesn't change its spots. I would hope that Terry can have an attitude adjustment and hopefully the bipolar changes one minute to the next go away but not hopeful. I would say this to the owners, if you aren't happy doing what you are doing..... it is time to quit. Others see this in your attitude. You even admit in some of the responses to reviews that you could have treated people nicer. This was our experience so we want others to be warned before staying at this B&B. read more

Ann's expertise gave us the inside track in planning for the best sights and values to make the most of our time in Denali. Be sure to ask her to assist in making rail and park reservations -- saves time and money! Terry's rail depot pickup service combined with an on-site car rental made transportation a breeze. All the comforts of upscale lodging in a cozy home environment. (We didn't expect full maid service every day.) Terry's bountiful breakfast was hearty and delicious and offered the bonus opportunity of enjoying the company of other guests. We thoroughly enjoyed being away from the cruise-ship mecca of hotels and shops nearer the park. The short drive to and from the park is worth it for the scenery alone. Nearby Healy restaurants recommended by our hosts were locally-owned and operated with great food and generous portions. Our in-room fridge even let us make the most of our leftovers! The Denali Dome Home was the first time my wife and I ever stayed at a B&B and if all other B&B experiences are even remotely close to the level of hospitality and comfort Terri and Ann provided then we have been seriously missing out all this time. I had originally tried to book a room at a nearby inn within Healy but communication with them was problematic which, in the end, left us without a place to stay the night before I had to travel to Healy. I reached out to DDH that night and promptly received a reply from Ann assuring me we would have a place to stay. I really appreciated the quick response and accommodation for my last minute request, especially near a holiday. My wife and I's stay at the home was exceptional. The dome is a uniquely beautiful building that has all kinds of interesting decorations and little details around every corner. Everything about the home makes you feel welcome and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious, plentiful, and always ready for us when we strolled downstairs. We got our daily fill of cookies and candies each day; they even gave us some to-go when we checked out. There is an extensive movie collection with classics and recent films as well as a fully stocked library of books. We made use of the 'honesty bar' which had a great assortment of snacks and drinks which runs on a pay-when-you-want system. The fireplace is HUGE and super cozy, especially when it was -18 outside. Our room was comfortable and well-kept, we slept like logs. Ann was even nice enough to email us a few days after we left to make sure our trip home was safe. We plan on coming back to Healy to explore more of Denali and we would happily stay at the Denali Dome Home again! read more

I booked The Dome Home based on Yelp reviews, and I am so glad that we did! Not only did Ann help us book our adventures for the next two days, but Terry went out of his way to help coordinate our pick ups and drop offs which ultimately saved us quite a bit of money. Both of them were able to offer us really good advice on what take advantage of during our short stay, and their home is truly marvelous-- So unique, and of course very clean and comfortable. This is one of the best Bed & Breakfast accommodations close to Denali National Park. Me and 8 of my other friends had a wonderful stay at the Dome Home. Anne's home is very spacious and luxurious! They even have a Sauna in of of their bedrooms! The heated flooring is definitely a plus. She has done up the house so well..paying attention to every little detail. Each of our beds had adorable little stuffed toys on them. She has a massive front and back yard. If you are lucky you can even view the northern lights from her driveway. She has a plethora of movie and Tv shows to choose from. My favorite part of our stay was the breakfast. Anne was nice enough to wake up early and cook a nice homemade meal for us. She even baked us cookies. Her dogs are absolutely adorable ( I spend a lot of my time running around with them :)) Even if i tried really hard I cannot think of one constructive criticism, our stay was perfect. read more

My boyfriend and I hiked Denali in early April. We made a last minute decision to stay at Denali but most places are not open until Summer. We managed to find this place and it exceeded all our expectations. The place: gorgeous, clean, well decorated, cozy and comfortable. My husband and I did not stay at the Dome but we rented a car from them. We had breakfast here and it was great. What a beautiful place. Its a home but beautifully decorated. The couple that run it are very helpful to visitors. Healey is 12 miles north of Denali, so if you don't have a car its very hard to get a ride to Healey. These folks are the only car rental folks in the area. Yes they are pricey, but then everything in Alaska is outrageously expensive. If I go back to Alaska we will be renting a car in Anchorage and driving to Denali. The train is 500.00 for one. An unforgettable experience but a one time experience. read more

One of the highlights of a recent trip to Alaska (the first ever for my husband and me) was a two-night stay at Denali Dome Home Bed & Breakfast in Healy, AK. After a noisy 8-hour trip from Anchorage on the Alaska Railroad, the Denali Dome Home was an oasis of calm in beautiful surroundings! Owners Ann and Terry Miller were waiting for us at the train station. A very pleasant 20 minute drive north to to their lovely and comfortable home was punctuated by helpful advice on the best local restaurants in the area and points of sightseeing interest along the way. Our accommodations were cozy and extremely comfortable -- we were left to want for nothing. Mornings started with a delicious home-cooked breakfast and lively conversation with other guests. At first skeptical about taking an all day bus tour into Denali National Park the next day, the Millers convinced us that the tour they had advised we take (the government bus tour as opposed to the more expensive - and more restrictive - tour company excursions) would be stress free, quieter, and well worth our time. We took their advice and had a wonderful day in the park the next day. Terry Miller also is a master ulu maker and we came away with one of his originals. We agreed that Terry's ulus were the finest we had seen on our Alaska trip and consider it a treasure. Both Ann and Terry are extremely vibrant, fun people and it was a pleasure getting to know them. I can't honestly say that we have sought out bed and breakfast places in the past - but something about this one caught my husband's eye when he was researching places to stay near Denali. All in all, we had one of the most enjoyable experiences during a trip that we were calling "the trip of a lifetime." But, it won't be the only trip to Alaska. We already have plans to return next year and, hopefully, to stay once again at the Denali Dome Home Bed & Breakfast. read more

The hosts are very hospitable and provided great local advice and recommendations. They really made the stay a great one. A cooked breakfast is provided with lots of options and you can also help yourself with cereals, fruit and other options. Coffee and tea is readily available. The common areas are a wonderful area to relax at the end of the day - large with big picture windows and greats views to the mountains and trees outside - and passing wildlife! We had a great time during our stay here. The hosts were very helpful in providing us the information about Denali. We were here just for a day but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The next time we plan to stay here for longer! They are very disciplined and all the guests have to leave their shoes outside before entering the house. We found this great as it helped to keep the rooms clean. The rooms are great with have every thing you need during the stay---soap, shampoo, conditioned, female hygiene products, hair dryer, magnifying glass etc etc.. Even the breakfast is awesome. As we had to leave early to the park, we bought out own rye bread from a nearby grocery store and used their butter+jam and pepper+salt to make sandwiches to take as lunch for the 12 hours tour at Denali. Their kitchen was well stocked with fruits, various cereals, bread, jams, butter and boiled eggs for breakfast. They have dvd players in every room and hundreds of dvds to choose from. They also have great collection of books to read. The bed was amazing and we had a well rested night. read more
