Highly recommended...we did the side by side rental on day two of a twelve day trip and i seriously doubt we'll be able to top it. The guides were excellent, the food much better than expected and the tour itself was the best of all. It had just rained which made things extra fun! The only suggestion I would have and it minor, would be to clean the windshields of the machines prior to use. We could see through them, and got some fresh mud on then while touring, but it would've been nice to see clearly, at least for awhile, the beauty of the area where we were riding. I would 10/10 recommend...if we ever come back to the area this will be the first thing we sign up to do again!

The covered wagon horse dinner is a lot of fun! The ride was very scenic. Nick and Lexi were our guides, and were personable, professional, knowledgeable, and funny. Nick gave us a good understanding of Alaska since he is a native Alaskan. The dinner is super good as well! You get to know everyone in your wagon and eat dinner with them; so there's a nice sense of community. They will also come and pick you up from your hotel and take you to the beginning of the covered wagon ride, which is really nice.

My husband and I booked an ATV side by side tour with this company through Holland America Cruise Line. This experience was truly beautiful and so FUN! Our guide, Johnathon, was friendly and considerate of all 12 people in our group(both experienced ATVers, and novice) The meal that was served during the adventure was also top notch! Plenty to eat, and food for everyone (I have Celiac and the veggie chili and Salmon were very well prepared and safe for me to eat) My hubby enjoyed the ribs, chicken, salmon, pasta salad, cornbread and cobbler dessert! If you come away hungry it's your own fault :) I highly recommend this experience for people who are not afraid of a little adventure in the wilderness of Alaska. Bring layers, wear something that can get dusty and/or wet/muddy. Bring your appetite...you will LOVE this!

Josiah did a great job. He seemed knowledgeable of the land even though it was his first time there. He dropped his helmet in the water and had to ride back wet! The food was good but we could have had one more rib each. If I go back I'd ask for a tighter helmet and to go faster.

My family and I had a great time, I highly recommend taking the ATV tour. Our guides, Danny and Sage were fantastic! Friendly, helpful, fun, informative. They made sure everyone was having fun and that everyone was safe. We had a child on the tour and they are great with kids. They fed us mid-tour(great food btw). My child got to see the horses and find lots of rocks. Come check them out! Thank you Danny and Sage! -the rock collecting family

This was one of the best parts of my trip! My husband and I booked the ATV tour several weeks in advance. We got picked up at our hotel in the shuttle van by a very nice lady from Arkansas. I unfortunately forgot her name. She was super thrilled about her job and knowledgeable about the area. She also drove us back after our tour. Upon arrival we had a few minutes to use the restrooms and check out the store before the other van arrived. We then got brought into the garage where we watched a safety video, filled out our waivers and got fitted for helmets. Fortunately, my husband and I were the only two on the ATV tour (without the meal) so we had our guide, Luke, all to ourselves. It was basically a private tour and it was amazing. Luke explained everything about the ATV to me since I was a first time rider. He was knowledgeable about the area and made sure to stop in the best spots for photos ops. There was a ton of riding time. The trails we took were super fun. You WILL get muddy so make sure you wear an appropriate outfit. Bug spray doesn't hurt either although bugs weren't an issue on this tour. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tour! Make sure you bring cash to tip your guide and shuttle driver!

We did the side by side atv tour with Jonathan and it was awesome! Jonathan is so knowledgeable and he made the tour. It was a beautiful night tour (7:45) and he took us to several overlooks that left us in awe! We had sooo much fun driving the atvs.... Jonathan you're the best!

The three of us enjoyed the covered wagon ride with Mac being the guide and Daniel driving. Our horses were Rocky & Turbo. They provided wool blankets which was MUCH appreciated, being as windy as it gets! Dinner was AMAZING, much better than most of the meals on the cruise.

We did the ATV Treasure hunt tour and it was loads of fun!! Highly recommend it and it came with lunch too!! The tour participants were split into individual family groups with the drivers and we all came together at certain points to look for clues. We went on the back trails and saw pretty views. It hadn't been raining so we didn't get to splashing in puddles but it was fun anyway! We did go across a shallow river (was almost dried up though) Our driver was very informative and told us about the area and the different animals and vegetation in the area. A moose was spotted on the trail the other other day but unfortunately we didn't get to see any. We got to pick a souvenir from a "treasure chest " at the end. Kids will love this! At the end, instead of joining with the rest of the tour at the family style lunch, we were brought to the restaurant. Even better! We got to choose from the special menu and let me tell you, the food was great! We had the salmon and halibut which came with choice of side and soup or salad. And beer!! The salmon and halibut was nice and moist. Really liked the tomato bisque I chose. Dessert was also included -choice of blueberry crumble or apple tart. They ran out of the crumble and that was the best thing that happened because the tart was soooo good! Came out hot, flaky and topped with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. Get this instead! One thing I should add is that the service was slow and there were only 3 parties in the dining room. But the food made up for it. We had also booked the covered wagon tour, not realizing it's basically the same thing but much tamer. Same trail almost. It was nice nevertheless and the horses were cool, the guide was was very informative and entertaining and the horse driver also chimed in with interesting info about the horses. Like the ATV Treasure hunt tour, the covered wagon also came with lunch. It's a family style meal- we sat at communal long tables and were served from bowls family style. We had salmon, potatoes, chicken, ribs, chili, coleslaw, pasta salad and cornbread, ice tea, wine, juice. It is the exact same meal we would've gotten with the ATV tour but thanks to our ATV driver's whim we ate at the restaurant. The restaurant meal was much better. I would recommend doing the ATV tour instead of the covered wagon one unless off-roading is not your thing.

Stayed one night as part of our Holland American Alaskan vacation tour…read more Location is nice for entering Denali National Park and there are a number of tourist type shops and restaurants across the street. Otherwise this place is a bit lacking. All the rooms are located below a steep hill, but there is a shuttle that runs frequently to save to the climb. Room that I stayed in was pretty basic. No refrigerator or air conditioning. Also, this place severely needs more pubic bathrooms! This hotel is mostly for people on tours which in most cases leave much later than checkout time. So at times there will be large numbers of people sitting around the lobby waiting for pick ups. In the mens room there are two stalls and two urinals. Lines form to get in! Another issue was a phantom fire alarm at 1am! We had just retuned from a "midnight" ATV excursion and had just fallen asleep to be awaken to alarms. Really sucked because by the time we got back to bed it was almost 2am and we had to be up at 5:30 to catch a 7am tour of Denali. We did eat at one of the restaurants on the premises. It was a bit overpriced (expected). My wife's halibut was decent, my chicken was dry and didn't have a lot of meat. I'm sure, in most cases, this hotel is just included in your tour package. But if you have a choice, I'd stay at the sister hotel (run by Princess) it looks a bit nicer.

The best part was the location…read more(which is why I would give one star instead of 0 stars) because it was located in a beautiful spot, but with all the money Holland America receives you would think their hotels and bus services would be better. The rooms at the HA in Denali are cabins, which is a great concept, but the rooms are terrible--dirty, outdated, and the beds are terrible. The facility is semi-accessible. The shuttles do have lifts if you need one, but the sidewalks are very uneven and cracked so be careful if you are in a wheelchair or have a cane or walker. The Grizzly Cafe in the lobby was awful. We bought a lunch pack (for $22) and were given a moldy sandwich. When we tried to return it or get our money back (or in store credit) they would not do it. Nothing. We were basically told that we could have another sandwich; when we got back it was almost dinner time, so we just wanted our money back or credit, but nope. It was pretty crappy. The bus to Fairbanks is grubby and there was no air--it was so hot, like terribly hot on the bus. Overall, if I do this trip again I would take the cruise to Anchorage and then rent a car and make our own arrangements for the land portion.

They originally did not have all 3 nights available in one room so I booked one night in one and two nights in another. Before we left, we were advised that the Alaska room had opened up for all 3 of our nights and we were upgraded for no additional charge so we didn't have to move. The Alaska room is the largest one they have and is so spacious that it spanned the whole middle portion of that building. Breakfast for the entire stay is left in the fridge in the room so you can mix and match your juices, pastries, etc.. The beds were comfortable and the views were spectacular that we saw more moose out of our room window than we did in Denali. I stayed up two nights in a row watching them, the first night, right outside our window where if I went downstairs, I would've been within that 50 feet of personal space we are supposed to give them. The following day, I saw them in the distance in the afternoon with their babies and that night a show with 5 moose in total including a lake crossing to our side. I enjoyed our last morning just sitting in our room enjoying the view before checking out, it was so beautiful. If it wasn't so windy, I would've love to take the kayak out to explore the lake.

Big inconvenience: no lunch service at the restaurant, despite being far from any other food options. The low point was an interaction with Larry Smith, the restaurant manager. We'd brought a bottle of wine to drink by the fire before our anniversary dinner -- it was 40°F and raining out, our room only had one chair, and there was nowhere else indoors to sit. Larry told us we needed to remove the wine since we hadn't bought it on-site. We tossed the bottle and confirmed it, but he came back, checked our cups, saw wine still in them, and got confrontational, telling us to leave. A corkage fee would've been the normal way to handle this -- instead we were made to feel like criminals on our anniversary. Dinner didn't improve things: all three of our salmon orders, requested medium rare, came out overcooked. Drink selection was thin too. If you're looking at Denali lodging, check out the Princess or Holland properties instead -- nicer restaurants, and closer to everything in downtown Denali. Not a bad hotel, we got upgraded to a room with a balcony and it had the most gorgeous view. We had a room with 2 queen beds, which were decently comfortable. The bathroom was okay for the most part. They had a few things in a refrigerated area for breakfast such as uncrustables sandwiches and bagels, but no toaster to toast the bagel only a microwave? The road to get to the hotel is super windy, lots of twists and turns to get up there. They clean the room only on request so make sure to tell the front staff. Check out time was 10, but we were able to push it to 10:30. The sweetest thing this hotel did was give me a basket of goodies for my birthday that I was celebrating while there! They left it in the room when we were out hiking and was super surprised to see it there when we got back. Very very generous of the hotel!
