Darrel & Tara are the absolute hands up best hosts. Wife and I had the most amazing time and experience here at Otto Lake with the Lakeview Inn Folks. Room was perfect over looking the lake and access to the dock was easy and bon fire with unlimited wood. We saw swans moose and lots of wolf tracks along with the grand finale was the epic northern lights dancing in the sky. We loved our stay it was perfect. Thank you so very much for making us O'ahuans stoked beyond measure. Aloha an we will be back for sure. Only bummer is we had only one night here.. stay a week if we could.

Words simply cannot describe this heavenly place! From the moment we turned into the driveway, we saw the lake, and when we got to our room, our lake view was awesome! Flo, our check-in lady welcomed us and gave us several recommendations for our stay. Alicia, the next day, and Brecken, on our last day, were equally friendly and helpful. When we stepped into our room, Moon Dream, we found all the comforts of home. The king-size bed was comfortable and positioned with a great view of the lake and mountains. The bathroom was supplied with all the amenities we might need, including a jetted tub and luxurious towels. Our hosts had filled the small fridge with more breakfast goodies than we could eat - cereal, hard-boiled eggs, apples, oranges, muffins, raisin bread, various juices and milk. (And freshly baked brownies or cookies greeted us on our return to the room after each day's activities.) Being located only 20 miutes from Denali National Park was such a convenience. And several good restaurants were even closer to the inn. We saw a mama and baby moose one morning on the grounds and, even though the skies were cloudy two out of three days, we got to see the aurora (bucket list item!). Best place we have ever stayed!

We enjoyed our 2-night stay the first week of August! It doesn't look like much from the parking lot.... and then you get into your room and look out of the windows at the mountains and Otto lake. Spectacular! We got lucky and got the Alaska room. It's Homey and Cozey. It's located next to the check-in office and doesn't require doing any stairs. (Other than the little porch stairs outside.) There were 2 other rooms next to ours on the same side/floor. Then upstairs there were some rooms and downstairs there were a few rooms. The property is a lot bigger than it seems. Our room - the Alaska room - shared a long balcony with the other 2 rooms on our level. No big deal since the people staying in them were our tour drivers. It was nice to just chill and hang out for a little bit after a long day. While we were visiting the area, it was quite warm. Like unseasonably warm. Like turn on all the fans and open all the windows and doors warm (because there is no A/C) and sleep with everything open in hopes of cooling down. Because our room was large, we had big picture windows. We made the mistake of leaving the blinds up while we were out during the day. The room was a sauna when we got back at 10pm even though we left the ceiling fans running. Live and Learn. Shoulda put the blinds down. The room itself is nice. Not fancy, not run down. It's comfortable. I wish we could have stayed a couple more nights. The Alaska room boasts a FULL kitchen. Like Full Full.... there are cupboards of utensils, pans, dishes, supplies and goodies as well as a stove, full size fridge, microwave, coffeemaker and toaster. I think people stay here and then leave whatever they don't eat (non-perishable, of course) for future guests because there were at least 2 huge Costco sized jars of peanut butter, packages of pasta, pasta sauce, beans, all kinds of canned goods, hot cocoa mix and packets of popcorn. The Inn provides your breakfast in your room. It's a simple breakfast, but really good IMO. I mean..... I liked it since it was / is very similar to what I normally eat in the morning. In fact, it's more than what I normally eat. We were there 2 nights so there were 2 full plates in the fridge for us - one for each morning. Each plate consisted off: Cinnamon raisin bread - we made toast 1 huge orange - super sweet 2 apples 2 hard boiled eggs 2 muffins 2 containers of grapefruit segments plus juice, milk and coffee and whatever else was in the cupboards - I found some cereal The property sits on a lake, and they have a couple of kayaks that you can take out for a spin. It's not a big lake. It's actually a man made lake that was made so that planes could land with supplies. The deepest part of the lake is 8'. They also have some fishing poles if you want to try fishing. There is also a little campfire ring near the water. Sadly, we were way too tired each night (and didn't get back until after 9pm each day) that we were not able to take advantage of a campfire. (I found marshmallows in one of the cupboards so we could have roasted some. Darn.) Mosquitoes were not too bad, however, I did get a couple bites. They love me, so I'm not surprised. We noticed the rooms on the ground floor each had a picnic table on their little patio. Oh... and the property does have a washer and dryer that works really well. If I remember correctly, it's $2 to wash and $2 to dry. Don't forget to clean the dryer lint box after you are done. The only eating place close by is the Black Diamond Grill. It's ok. I would not recommend it. I'd suggest grabbing something while you were out and about and bringing it back to the property to eat by the lake. Or... hit up the 49th State Brewing Company which is only about 3 miles away.

    Aurora on arrival at hotel

This hotel has great views of the lake and mountains. We kept the curtains open all night (note this was winter). We booked this hotel to break up a winter drive to Fairbanks after a day in Anchorage for Iditarod and Rondy in March. We called to discuss a potential late arrival after 10 pm. The young women was great and explained the process. We asked about best rooms to view through out the night to get up and look for aurora sightings. We booked the midnight sun room (top floor). Arrival process after 10 pm was simple. We saw a small aurora on arrival. Our room outside porch deck was covered with snow so we used one of the shovels to clear it off. You need to leave your shoes you are wearing at the front door entrance do not to mess up the carpet throughout the hotel. Room was comfortable with extra blankets also. Shower water was nice snd hot which is great for below zero mornings. Breakfast was in the fridge when we arrived with fruit, muffins, instant oatmeal, hard boiled eggs and cereal. Our room had a table near the porch to eat setting down. Worked out well as we could eat while getting ready as the hotel has a 10 am check out time. Note once you book this hotel the first night is not refundable. This hotel didn't come up on bookings.com but did show up on trip advisor. We booked via the hotels website. This hotel is only a mile off the main highway so easy to get to the hotel.

Beautiful! Staff was sweet & accommodating. We stayed in the Deck Room which was absolutely Perfect!

I thought this was the perfect place for viewing the northern lights. The room we stayed in overlooked the lake and the alaskan range, which was exactly where the lights start up so you can keep an eye on it from inside. I didn't see too much of the owners, but that's just fine by me. the place was nice and clean, and perfect for what I was looking for. Also the jacuzzi tub was really nice after a cold day.

Definitely my place to stay when visiting denali national park. The lake view is excellent.

We stayed here for one night while traveling from Anchorage to Fairbanks. We stayed in the Alaska room, which had an amazing northeast view. We were able to see the northern lights from 2 AM through 4AM. It also had a beautiful sunrise in the morning. The family was extremely nice when we had questions. They left breakfast for us in the morning and otherwise we never saw anyone. If you are traveling when the roads are still snowy,I would suggest checking in with the owners if you are going to arrive after dark because our GPS didn't take us directly to the house and we didn't want to turn down a snow-covered road in our rental car. The owner of the B&B was extremely helpful and guided us right into the house when I called her.

That was one of the few positives associated with this place of lodging. We stayed in a room where the height of the carpeting impeded the easy operation of the door. The bed was too large for the size of the room so there was no place for a nightstand to place your glasses or a bottle of water. There was very poor connectivity in the room. The room lighting was poor restricting reading and other activities to a small area near the window. Also, the interior of the venue was not traveler friendly. There were too many stairs to access bedrooms which required carrying your luggage to your room or pulling your roller bags up sets of stairs. The bottom landing of the main floor staircase was not flush with the floor which required visitors to step over the landing (think safety issue). The breakfast was mediocre at best. The proprietor (the father) had a smug and condescending style of communication. The first morning I was there, I awoke early and sat in the living room area working on a crossword puzzle. I peered outside and saw the proprietor urinate on a tree in the yard when he was letting the three dogs (one yappy and unfriendly) out for their morning business. He next appeared in the kitchen to start preparations for breakfast. Did he wash his hands? Needless to say, I only ate items prepared by his son Bart who was very personable.

It is difficult to explain just how truly awe inspiring the beauty of the park is, and how much I felt at home in the hills and the lodge. Many people complain about the 6 hour bus ride to cover the 92 miles to the lodge but for us it is one of the highlights of the trip because that is the best place to see the wild game of the park. Certainly there are no guarantees but we saw bears, carabou, dall sheep, a golden eagle, an arctic ground squirrel and magnificant scenery. The bus drivers are knowledgable, experienced and excellent game spotters because they know where to look. Some people choose to fly in or out which provides unimaginable views of Denali if the weather is good. We chose to return by the Kantishna bus because the first vehicle on the park road in the morning has the best chance to see wildlife. Compared to our previous trip, we had the place to ourselves. Only about 25% of the dining room was utilized and many cabins were empty. Covid rules required that brakfast be served instead of a buffet but the meals were memorable. The meals were some of our best in Alaska and the chef was really creative in his preparation. Service was attentive and friendly. It was obvious that the lodge was short staffed but everyone did a good job of meeting our every need. The guided hikes were informative and varying levels of difficulty were offered. The staff shared duties guiding, serving in the dining room, driving vans, etc. but each had speciaties as naturalists and they were expert sources of knowledge about birds, flowers, plants and geology. We were exceptionally lucky in that Denali was "out" every night and morning and we were shuttled to Wonder Lake to get the best views. This involves a 1/2 mile walk from the required parking area. Prices in the bar were comparable to what you would pay in Anchorage or Fairbanks. Be aware that in June, hoards of mosquitos will try to carry you away. Be prepared with long sleeved shirts and lots of repellent. Without question, this place is expensive at $1150 a day per couple but it is an incomperable experience. The cabins are large and comfortable but at the same time rustic. Any place else in Alaska, this cabin would rent for about $150 a night without the food, guide service and transportation but in this special spot there are no inexpensive options. Some people choose to spend outrageous amounts on elaborate weddings or first class airfare. This is the same kind of once in a lifetime experience, so go big if you are willing to forget the cost.

We ended up getting Cabin 9, which is close to the office and therefore wifi, and Cabin A, which is quite far and has neither wifi, service, nor a private bathroom. The shared bathroom actually was clean and fine, but I hate how there's a light timer switch of 15 min maximum (I take 15-30 min showers when I wash my hair). Also, in the shower house I used closest to my room, only 1 of the 2 shower stalls had hot water. Another problem is the hours of the office and the shuttle (Denali Hostel & Cabins shuttle services Carlo Lodges, The Perch and Creekside which are extremely close by) don't really make sense with everything else going on in the park. For one, the Park Connection Motorcoach from Anchorage to Denali either arrives 12:30 pm or 8:30 pm. However, the Carlo Lodge Office is only open 8 to 11 am and 3 to 8 pm. When we arrived around 1 pm using their shuttle pickup, we literally had 2 hours of nothing to do there. We didn't have the wifi password at the time either. Second, some of the 8 am activities require you to be at Denali Cabins for pickup by 7 am. However, the shuttle itself arrives 7 am at Carlo Lodges. Lastly, they charge $20/person plus fees if you book online. For my group of 5, that means $106 each time ONE WAY to go anywhere. At least the restaurants nearby are pretty good. Creekside Cafe is the only one open every day from morning to night though lol.
