Bataille Academie of the Danse. Where to begin? From the inside it looks great. The business has…read morebeen there a long time, Dee Dee knows how to run things, and it's a big studio with many girls. The studio itself: The facility is absolutely not to code and not wheelchair accessible. The bathrooms are disgusting and besides a new paint job, nothing has been updated. The ac unit doesn't work, making the summers absolutely miserable. The teachers: Stephanie is good, but the two other good ones quit. Colleen absolutely sucks, Jill's choreography is tired and unoriginal, Lauren has terrible mood swings, Meghan is just a bad teacher, and all of the others don't have much to do with the studio but are equally as bad (except Mitchell love Mitchell). Dee Dee, the owner of the studio, isn't a bad teacher, but she is a raging narcissist and is more interested in the Athena's, a dance team she works with, than her own business. In the past 5 years especially, she has lost focus of what's important in her business and is just a mean person. (Also Risa, one of the women who works the office is a miserable human being and is very unkind to the customers, but since she kisses DeeDee's booty all of the time, she hasn't been fired.) The dancing: There are a few solid dancers at the studio, but none of them will go very far in the world of dance. If your child wants to be a ballerina, this is not the place to go. Basically none of the teachers have had any form of professional dance training outside of Bataille, and it really shows. Bataille's strongest style is Jazz, and even there, it needs a ton of improvement. All dances are taught very slowly, so quick pickup is not something found commonly in Bataille dancers. Everyone here is extremely mislead into thinking that Bataille is great because DeeDee has made it so that they sweep every competition they go to, and if it isn't swept, it is either blamed on the dancers or the competition, never the teachers, or God forbid DeeDee and her neglect of the studio. Finances: The deeper into the studio you go, the worse it gets. At Bataille, it's basically necessary to compete. The first competition team is Jazz, then you can get invited to Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, Acro, or IDP. The catch is this: to do Jazz competition, you must be enrolled in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz. To do contemporary comp, you must be in Jazz company+ it's requirements and contemporary, the same goes for the other classes. Everyone acts like the Companies are exclusive, but in reality, DeeDee will do whatever she can in order to get more money. Honestly, that's got to be her main reason for continuing the business. She's a greedy narcissist who takes pride in breaking dancers, watching them crumble, and then acting as if it's all their fault. Favoritism: Bataille has many flaws, but this has got to be one of the worst. The favoritism at this studio is the most severe I've ever seen. The teachers very clearly put people front and centre, give them extra attention, and DeeDee loves to point out exactly why they're perfect, even if others are doing stuff at the same level or even better. If you have a child who just wants to dance for fun and won't fall to deeply into the rabbit hole, Bataille is fine, but if you believe in #batamily or hope to become a professional in the craft, Bataille is not the place for you. After years of being dedicated to this studio, I would 100% not recommend.

Her heart will always be here :-) Lessons learned some much more than dance (which training is superb) but lessons that last a lifetime; such as discipline, respect for others and themselves. I spent $540 (full price) on her classes for the September to May class and was never informed that she cannot participate in the Recital and subsequently was not learning the dance "properly" on Zoom; however my card was eagerly charged on the first day of each month. I was also never contacted and asked if my Zoom student wants to participate in the recital. I reached out and informed Trilogy 3 weeks in advance that she will be participating (could have used any basic yellow outfit since hers was sold out), but was told "No" since it would not "match" the other kids ( I mean who really cares! - these are 4-7 year olds!). During some classes she was not let in due to technical difficulties on their end (!) and I was never credited or refunded any fees. Had to call multiple times for any issues to be addressed. Will not be returning and subjecting my kid to this program ever again and would not recommend this dance school. They do not care for their dancers at all.

Our daughter started with Trilogy a year ago and we plan to stay a part of the Trilogy family for as long as my daughters little legs can dance! Not only is the owner a sweetheart, but they encourage children to dance their little hearts out and do it with incredible technique, strong will, and passion. The shows and competitions are magnificent honestly. Music is well thought out and the children look so happy dancing. The time put in by the entire crew (dancers, teachers, extra help and parents ) shows in the quality of performance. There is a difference between this dance school and your basic park district dance class. Nothing wrong with either but Trilogy definitely takes their quality of dance seriously. They teach the children responsibility that the children can take with them outside of dance and into their everyday lives as they grow. Not to mention how ADORABLE these dancers are!

Our wedding was to be in the summer and were actively taking our dance lessons during the winter months. My husband had gotten sick a couple of times and we cancelled early the day of, but sometimes it does not come on right away and you don't feel up to dancing for an hour. We only cancelled twice. We took about 5 or 6 of our classes only because our last session number 5 or 6, we felt extremely uncomfortable with her. She got very upset at us saying that we didn't practice, which we did, and saying we weren't trying or listening, in which we were giving it everything we could. After her cold demeanor and nasty comments from that class, we chose to not continue any of the remaining lessons. We were there to learn and not to get yelled at. We are willing participants and deserved a little bit more compassion and kindness especially for how much we paid! She did not offer to give us any money back either for our remaining dance lessons that we did not use. Terrible experience and would not recommend! This was supposed to be an exciting thing to do for the most special day of our lives and turned out to be one of the worst experiences we ever had.

I initially wanted to sign up for an aerial yoga class, but was prompted to take a "beginner" pole…read moreclass instead because it started sooner. It turned out the class was a Beginner II rather than an intro, and the instructor was more of a demonstrator than a teacher. Despite struggling, I still enjoyed the class enough to sign up for a second session. That session was oversold, as the only pole available had a huge floor flaw that was TAPED over. Over the course of the class, the tape and adhesive became tackier and eventually ruined the shoes I was wearing for the first time. This resulted in my shoes literally sticking to the floor, so I couldn't complete a move and ended up painfully smashing my knees against the edge of the pole base, resulting in bruises on both. Despite being oversold and unsafe, the studio refuses to refund my session fee. I had two credits from signing up for the first session, and I asked for a refund after the 2nd class of the 2nd session. I should have my entire fee refunded, but they took two weeks to write me back and let me know that because the semi-present instructor didn't know I was in pain, they are going to KEEP MY MONEY?!?! The instructor saw me trying to remove the tape and goo from my shoes, but they are literally going to try to weasel out of being accountable with this. They should refund me for my session, replace my shoes, and acknowledge that their studio is UNSAFE, their classes are oversold, and their practices are shady. Really disgusted by the entire experience, it's a shameful way to run a business, and the lack of concern and support is negligent and irresponsible.

Michelle was very patient with our group, and helped us maneuver around the unknown of aerial fitness. The studio is split in two: one side for aerial fitness, and the other for poles (both are offered in 8 week packages). The studio also hosts various other classes such as women's self defense and hula hooping. The workout was definitely challenging, but we all had so much fun! I highly recommend this studio for anyone interested in trying aerial fitness or pole classes!
