First visit here. Dr Powlison was very easy going and friendly. My exam didn't feel rushed and he took time to explain things. The selection of frames was quite limited with many bare spots on the shelf. The staff in the back was friendly, one girl in the front not so much. So one star off for that and the frame selection. Terrible. I suggest going anywhere but here. Dropped off two pairs of frames of my own. 650$ later for progressive lens, and a 7-10 day progress told. Nothing. Called them myself two weeks later. 7-10 days. End of month. Cancel my order. No ma'am. Already being made be here in 7 days. 1 pair was. The other was there in 9. I went in to get them they had me try on standing in the middle of the store. I asked to adjust one pair. They did. I left with nothing but the glasses. No cases. Which for 650$ they should have provided for nothing. Bad customer service. No check ins. Very expensive. RUN. read more

The worst retail experience ever! Let me clarify, at no point did we ever see the eye doctor, so I am only giving opinions based on our interactions with the other staff. I took my son to look for frames, and we were ignored for a very long time, eventually waited on, and then the girl became very frustrated when he didn't find a frame and we elected to go elsewhere. The girl seemed angry that she would have to cancel the authorization. My husband went in looking for frames and felt the same thing. He waited a long time, and felt like he was treated poorly because he has just gotten off work and was dirty, which made him especially self conscious. He said the lady was rude and not helpful. Once he got his glasses, they had to be taken back 4 times before they were correct! It took roughly 6 weeks to make sunglasses! I personally witnessed Shonda speaking very ugly to an older lady, and received many dirty looks from her. Every time we went in there, we instantly knew we were being talked about, and we are not paranoid kind of people. Mary Ann was initially very understanding and addressed our concerns, but upon returning the glasses so many times she eventually appeared to be frustrated with us. I have placed a call to the doctor that has not been returned, and today I mailed her a letter to advise of the terribly poor service and attitude coming from her business. We will never do business here again, and I will never recommend them to anyone. In fact, I intend to inform my vision insurance of the poor service. My recommendation? Keep shopping, there are better selections, better prices, and far better customer service elsewhere! read more

I was nervous about having my eye's examined for the first time in years, but my experience at Denison Optical was great! Dr. Claborn is extremely thorough and completely invested in her work. I called Denison Optical because I had been there years prior & had a really good experience. I was very clear in that I wanted an exam for contacts & glasses. I was told Dr. Debra was full but I could see her associate. Went in for appointment, waited a long time & was finally called back. The Eye Dr. was nice. It had been years since I had an exam for contacts so I didn't realize till the exam was over & I was speaking to a nice older woman with short gray hair, that I hadn't had a contact exam. When I asked her abt my contacts, after I picked out glasses, she told me I hadn't had that exam. She spoke to the Dr. & told me I could come back in for a free contact exam. The Dr. apologized & said to be sure to come back in. I eventually went back & got the exam. Was fitted with a contact in my right eye. I was not told what type of contact I was wearing & had to ask for a case & solution. The person that I asked abt the case & solution acted like it was a terrible bother. I didn't get to go back in a month because of my grandson that I'm raising by myself. We spent months driving back & forth to Children's Medical Center Plano & continue to do so, as well as weekly visits to Sherman. I called Denison Optical a few weeks ago asking what the costs of my contacts would be. I was told that I needed to come in. Made an appointment & went in. After checking in & sitting there for a while, a young woman came & ask why I was there. I explained what I was told when I called. Also explained that I had lost the original contact when I took my grandson to visit family in Galveston before school started. She went to the desk behind the glass & started looking on the computer. She seemed confused & asked another woman some questions. I was then told that I would have to pay for both the exam & contacts. That was the 2nd time I had been told to come in & they acted as if they didn't understand why I was there. The Dr. told me my exam would be free because of the mix up when I first came in. Also, at that time, I thought the lady who helped me with my glasses made a notation abt the free contact exam in my file. All told, I have made 4 or 5 - 70 mile round trip visits for what should have been accomplished in 2 visits. I can't get my contacts without paying for the contact exam, which should have been done in the original visit. Because I had seen Dr. Debra before, I went back to Denison Optical. I liked her associate but the office staff seems to never know what's going on or why people are there. Beware!! read more

One of the worst experiences of my life twice. Now, don't get me wrong, Dr. Herron is very nice and thorough ONCE you see here. It has been the same scenerio every time I go there....2 to 21/2 hours before I see her and this last time took the cake. Had an appointment at 10:30 and got there at 10:15 and check in. At 11:00 I was taken to the pre-exam room. At 11:15 she was done. I asked how long it would be because I had an appointment in Dallas at 12:45. She said I will find out. 10 minutes later another women came over and asked if I wanted to look at frames. I said no I just want a prescription because I have had multiple problems with the lab they use and not standing behind the guarantee. Scratches within three months. I said how long. SHE SAID THERE ARE TWO PEOPLE AHEAD OF ME....WHAT, THAT'S OVER AN HOUR AND IT WAS ALREADY 11:30. This is standard procedure with them and I should have learned by now. She took me to the desk to reschedule. The girl at the desk gave my an appointment. When I got home, I called because there was a conflict. Well the lady at the front desk DID NOT EVEN RECORD MY APPOINTMENT. I said that was it. Left and called Dr Anders in Sherman and got an appointment the next day. Worst staff in the world, they do not know what customer service is. If you want to waist a day and wait two to three hours after your appointment time....go there. If not, go somewhere else. I was given no case or solution to put my new contacts in - left empty handed with just the contacts in my eyes. When I questioned why the little girl up front "that's all I get." Left and went straight to CVS to buy my own case and solution. Called up there to ask them what kind I need to buy and the girl said she would ask and call me back but never did. While waiting for the call I googled their office hours and realized they had closed without ever calling me back. I spent $17 on my own stuff. Called the next day when they opened for an explanation of why I never got a call back and received no apology, they just told me if I drove back up there they would give me some solution. I cancelled my follow up appt. A manager called me back and the little girl up front had lied about why I was upset. She told them I was upset and cancelled my appt because my contacts hurt. read more

Ah, the saga yet continues. Just recently Denison Optical fitted me for new glasses with the pre analysis for ocular correction. I had been in progressives lenses for several years and knew what the cost of updated lenses would cost, especially at Denison Optical. I told the new owner optometrist that i couldn't afford new progressives and wanted to move forward with lined tri-focals. After the new trifocals arrived, I went to be dispensed these new glasses, which was a story in itself. From the beginning, I couldn't regulate by eyes to the new lenses format, the dispenser suggested that I wait and allow the glasses to adhere to my optical needs. After a day I began amassing headaches, of which I immediately returned to Denison Optical for a full refund (of which I got). This was to be followed with a letter stating that I weas no longer accepted as a patient; such insecurity on the doctor's behalf as to dismiss me without further consultation. How amazing that the new owner didn't wish to repair the issue, but rather cast me aside. I went to another optics vendor in the area with a very experienced and stable optometrist. When I told her of my previous experience, she went ballistic and stated that I never should have been fitted for lined trifocals because of my lengthy history in progressives. Furthermore, this optometrist stated that I could have experienced permanent eye damage had I tried to remain with such corrective lenses. In closing, the community of Denison doesn't need to tolerate incompetence in any form of health care and should BOYCOTT AND CAUSE THIS HEALTH CARE INSTITUTION TO CLOSE PERMANENTLY. THE INEXPERIENCE OF THIS SO CALLED DOCTOR IN OPTOMETRY SHOULD CAUSE LICENSE REVOKE HENCEFORTH NEVER ALLOWING HER TO PRACTICE YET AGAIN. My experience with the doctor was wonderful .... very informative and helpful to provide you with the best care. However....the staff is terrible. They tend to be rude and rush you thru decision making and they get frustrated when they have to deal with you more then once. My husband waited a week for his bifocals and got to work and the lenses fell out ..... and the case that came with it was falling apart. So he took them back and decided to get a better pair of frames. He picked the Harley Davidson's. Now everywhere you look those come with a designer case and a premium designer cloth. Another week goes by and he goes to pick them up and they just hand him the glasses ...... he asks "Don't these come with a case?" An ed goes to the back and brings out a generic case. I called them back the next day and they apologized and said I could come pick the case up. When I get there the case is already up front but no cloth with it ..... so ask about it. Then they try to bring out some other generic cloth and give me. I said that I believed that it should be a premium cloth that comes with the glasses. several of them start making calls and looking around and after about 20 mins comes out and says that their rep told them it did not come with a cloth and that Harley Davidson does not sale cloth. At this point I'm speechless and it's obvious to me that somebody is not being honest. My opinion .... I feel that somebody is putting those little accessories aside for their own benefit.
