The web site said that they were open but no one was there. No sign on the door "Back in 10 minutes" or anything like that. So I got back in my car and called. No answer. I left a VM. Did hear back in the late afternoon, that maybe the receptionist had locked the door and gone to the restroom or something. OK, but she should have left a note. I am from out of town so this was an inconvenience for me. Anyway, I went back on the next morning, Saturday, and there was one person there. She brought out my glasses. I asked a couple of questions and she did not have answers that satisfied me at all. Again, not warm and friendly at all, no smile, very cold. I really expected to be treated better. As I said, not going back. Sincerely, the cashier at the local gas station where I stopped on the way home was more friendly and treated me with more respect that the receptionist who met me at Travis Street Optical Saturday morning. I did the exams and then was taken to the lobby where about 5 minutes later I was called and taken into the doctor's exam room. While waiting for the doctor a different nurse asked me some questions. She was a tad dry. She asked me if my doctor had done my pressures the day before I was told to do a follow up w/ RGB. I asked her about how a pressure test was done and was replied with "I don't know, I wasn't there"... I was a little taken aback and thought it was somewhat rude. If I asked the question it was because I didn't know. I don't know enough about how eye procedures are done to know for sure what is what. Other than the dry in personality nurse the visit went good. Dr. Bossen was very nice did his own exam and detailed in what my results were. I have a yearly follow-up visit which I will go to at RGB.

However, the business office, surgery counselors and billing department have been less than pleasurable to work with. There were some discrepancies between the billing office and the surgery counselor when I was quoted certain financial amounts. When communicating with them, they became very hostile and demanding, without being understanding and accommodating. After my follow ups are finalized, I will not be recommending them to anyone who might be looking into getting anything done in the future simply because of the interactions I experienced with some of the office staff.

(He's a coffee lover, so I have that in common with him) Wait times in waiting room are pretty short, be prepared to wait in the rooms, though. Rooms are cold! Procedure room is cold, too! (FYI they do have heated bed for procedures which is super nice). But your hands and feet will be COLD. ESP. If they do another procedure before yours while you are laying there . Prep is COLD, too! Ahhh warm that up, lovies! Don't worry about the sour face on one of the front office staff people. It's nothing personal. I think they are just focused or something. The nurses are all friendly. (She could smile more, but whatever. She's never rude or anything, so must be a demeanor thing.) They are all down to earth and personable. Fee free to ask questions. I got my prior eye exam here about 1.5 years ago and I was able to receive service a month ago…read more But, trying to call and book an appointment was total hell. Numerous calls went unanswered and numerous emails went unanswered. I am the type of person who likes to keep things the same, and, the Sherman office is next to Sam, which is where I get my eye glasses. Now, I am in need of a copy of my eye prescription, and now I am going through hell again with the unanswered calls and emails. I have even went to the Sherman location on Saturdays (multiple times) to get my prescription and the office is closed. Once I get my prescription I am done with them. The eye doctor is nice but RECEIVING RETURN CALLS AND ANSWERED EMAILS IS A TOTAL NIGHTMARE. Do not let the convenient location get you. Save yourself some emotional distress -- look elsewhere!! I am filing a complaint with the Department Of Insurance to get a copy of my prescription. And posting my experience on my company's intra-office email and the Texas State Employee Intra-office email.
