She immediately diagnosed a severe build-up of fluid in my middle ear as the cause of the rupture and the existing discomfort I was experiencing. She talked me through the options and made me feel very comfortable with starting out with the least intrusive route of meds and waiting. After the two week wait-and-see approach which brought only slight improvement Dr. Schmitt decided to do a myringotomy which she performed expertly. There was minimal pain involved and it immediately brought relief, which got even better over the next 10 days. I feel the problem was fully resolved and I appreciated the time, concern and care which Dr. Schmitt provided.

I called his office and they saw me SAME DAY! Not only that, he gave me some meds in my ears etc and I left his office pain free and stopped taking all my pain meds, literally 2hrs after I left! Yes he is "old school" (no fancy office, digital tv's permeating everywhere, bedside manner etc) but I like a dr that cuts straight to the chase and tells you exactly what is going on. The receptionists were extremly friendly and the dr was as well. My whole family is in the medical field and I have found that the "old school" dr's are the best. A fancy waiting room and fancy electronic devices does not necessarily equate to a great dr.

He didn't waste any time in scheduling me for diagnostic tests, and he's very good at communicating his opinion. Since I have a science background, it's great to find a doctor who explains medical issues without condescension. A truly sad story …read more.. My ex-wife manipulated a doctor at the San Rafael office (Dr. Carte) into writing and giving her a letter of recommendation to have my parental rights removed. Which the court sadly granted. My son has a string of behavioral issues that need addressing, but instead of acknowledging them, my ex-wife claims the issues are special needs-related. She's been able to convince several doctors at Kaiser that drugs are the answer. The problem with drugs is that they can be used to obscure the real cause of an issue, creating misleading symptoms of their own. So, not only is my young son on prescribed drugs that may not be benefiting him, he's been in 7-8 different schools (he hasn't even reached middle school yet), all in the same area. He gets pulled from school because his mother and the school aren't on the same page. This is problematic because it's detrimental to his social skills. Furthermore, my ex-wife has been asking Dr Mangiardi in Petaluma to edit past notes. For example, at one point, my son violently killed a small animal, and Dr Carte noted this as 'violent behavior'. My ex-wife then asked Dr Mangiardi to rewrite the notes, claiming Dr Carte writes very poor and incorrect notes. Shockingly, Dr Mangiardi seemingly made the updates without hesitation. The result is a skewed viewpoint. Sadly, I no longer see my children, partially due to Kaiser. Lastly, Kaiser is unwilling to do anything about all this, except for maybe send me a boilerplate statement, stating 'we're here to help'.

Now I have to see him again after being away, since my problem has unfortunately returned. Is there a wait to see him? Yes. Why the wait? Because he is that good. I had seen a half dozen doctors before I went to him (years ago for the first time) and finally received the correct treatment. A doc that's worth the wait to get A+ treatment.
