I came back to the bar about 15 minutes later with the same drink, set it down, and the owner stated a price as if he'd just poured me a new drink. I was surprised to say the least, but seeing that he was serving several customers at a time, I had to wait for him to come back to me before telling him that in fact I had already paid for my drink. The last sentence is an important detail because it explains why he didn't keep track of who he was serving drinks to. When he turned back to me, I told him I'd paid for my drink, and he told me that I didn't. I repeated myself, but he would not budge. I was shocked at how he could make a mistake like that, and I became furious when he gave me an attitude and refused to listen to me. It should have been obvious considering that my drink was partially consumed, but apparently in his world he's never wrong. I let him know how I felt (to put it mildly) and immediately left. I understand people make mistakes, but there is no excuse for treating your paying customers poorly. The owner is an arrogant jerk who doesn't deserve your business. Will never come back here.

Ah, good old Cub and Spanks…read more.. Now I've only been coming here for the past couple of months, but they fulfill a couple of requirements I require in a bar. 1) cheap drinks. And I don't mean this place is the kind of establishment that serves drinks in red solo cups, they serve them in regular plastic tumbler cups, and they're not bottom shelf garbage liquids either. A Jameson and Ginger ale will set you back a whopping $4. I feel like I'm stealing from the bar when I drink here! This is a good thing. 2) conversational level of crowd noise. This place has never been so loud that I couldn't hear the person I was sitting with, granted, we haven't come here on a Friday or Saturday night, so consider that the asterisk. I prefer a place where u don't need a bullhorn to talk to someone 3 feet away. 3) shuffleboard table. This place will always have a special place in my heart since I popped my shuffleboard cherry here on September 30th after closing out Charter Fitness. However, they've since replaced the old board with a new-fangled board with the prison bars that come up in the middle to avoid free plays, and the table is but crooked. Not that I'm a cheapskate and try to play for free, but the sand gets stuck in the holes so when you start a game, you have to manually push the bars in in order to allow your pucks to slide freely from end to end. I know, I know, #firstworldproblems 3) jukebox. Since the beginning if time, man has attempted to push forth their culture on those around them, and this is the perfect way to do it. You can even control the jukebox from your phone! Well, your smartphone at least. I don't think your Motorola StarTAC is going to help you out here, nor will your Nokia 8200. 4) regulars. You will see the same people day in day out here, whatever day of the week. They may or may not remember that you had a conversation about whatever you had a conversation about, but they're friendly. Or you can chalk it up to this place being a townie bar, but I won't call it that. Come to Cubbies, sidle up to the bar, and maybe drop a buck on a game of shuffleboard or two. If I'm there, say hello and challenge me to a game. I might show you a thing or two. Or not. I've only been playing for a couple if months...

You won't run into Peter here, but you'll meet other delightful people -- locals and vacationers. Most of the time, it's closed, but on the rare occasion that you find this building open (usually a weekend evening during warmer weather), it's a bit of a delight. Owned and operated by the people who run Twin Shores next door, this little building has a tiny, crowded bar with one table, and several outdoor tables. The drinks here are the same as the drinks at Twin Shores. It's a perfect spot for an after dinner drink when you want to sit outside and breathe in the fresh lake air on a warm summer night.
