Hiking and Boating is a gift that doesn't happen everyday unless you're lucky enough to have that access. I love it, and hope to come back a second time. We caught so many fish, we honestly lost count. Julien taught my son so much about fishing, and even let us hang out at the beach and swim after our fishing trip was over. Discovered this site while driving from Ouray to Silverton just off Hwy 550. It is about 13…read moreminutes from Silverton. There are more than 50 campsites serving tent-campers, small RV's and pop-ups, and a few sites over 1,500 square feet to serve even the largest RV's. The park has one water pump, clean pit toilets and showers that will cost you $5 for 4 minutes! You can make online reservations and offer a variety of sites, from water front, lake view or standard. I stayed in a water front and boy was it a pretty site. The only drawback is that since there is no barrier, you are fully exposed and visible from most of the other surrounding sites. The wind blows hard and although my tent held up really well, there were moments I could not even enjoy the views because it was so windy!! Firewood is available for purchase but I had a hard time getting the wood to burn as did other campers around me as they shared the same experience. Site prices vary depending on season. Would definitely return, fishing is allowed but no swimming.
