This Denny's was okay, nothing special. I will say that our waitress did a decent job considering they seemed understaffed. I didn't like how she handed all the drinks and food to my wife and I at the end of the table expecting us to do her job to send everything down to everyone at our table, there were 6 of us, so it wouldn't of been that hard to just hand everyone there stuff given that's your job, not the customer. Other than that my family and I enjoyed our breakfast, it's a Denny's so not much I can tell you that are reading this that you don't probably already know about the food. Merry Christmas! I know it's a holiday and I know you're busy. I was also prepared to wait patiently and to give $100 tip to our waitress. I waited an hour from the time I was seated and watched two tables seated after me receive their breakfast. My husband asked our waitress if our order hadn't been started we were going to go ahead and go. She asked, "Are you leaving?" I pointed out that I'd witnessed others receiving their meals. She said, "well, it's a holiday and if you don't like it, ya'll can eat at home!" ... Wow. I wasn't being rude at all. I had a smile on my face and understanding in my tone. Food was very good. My make your own grand slam was 2 eggs, bacon, sausage and nice crispy hashbrowns. They really need to recover the benches in their booths I saw lots that need fixing. The other problem (hopefully this was because they were busy) was their bathroom was a mess. Out of every Denny's I've ever been to, Cullman's is hands down the best. As far as the food, it's Denny's. There's not a whole lot that can be said. Your average American diner type food. I can honestly say I've never had food at this Denny's that wasn't satisfactory. The service is why this place got a 5 star review. Everyone here is super friendly, and that's really important to me. They're helpful, fast, and attentive, and that alone deserves this rating. If you're craving a huge burger with some top notch customer service on the side, give this place a visit. read more

The service was TERRIBLE. Chocolate milk that tastes like water, rubbery eggs, weird looking and tasting biscuit and gravy. When we my friend went to pay the register wasn't working correctly and the cashier got angry at my friend (who is 15 years old) and talked down to her as if it were her fault to the point where she paid and left crying. Horrible service, they almost spilt coffee on me. I tried to pay with a gift card and it was way more difficult than it had to be.

I have to drop my rating as the past two times I have been have been less pleasing as the first time.So 2 out of 3 times in a month's time has been just ok or less. Those 2 times were both for lunch and the one great time was for dinner. I'm not sure if that's due to a difference in cooks between night shift and day shift. I've been a little disappointed. Also, for a place that is known for breakfast...they sure don't know how to cook eggs. Both times I've gotten eggs they were scorched. Christmas Day and the place was packed!! Our server, Heather, kept our drinks full and brought us everything we needed with a smile and a kind word. I had the Christmas special--Turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, zucchini and potatoes and gravy. Wow! Lots of food. My mother had the senior Christmas special, also lots of food! My sister had the vegetarian burger with fries. We were just past the lunch rush so things were quieting down and it was a very pleasant Christmas meal. On the way back from a business trip to Huntsville, I got stuck in a snowstorm - really! A transfer truck had jack-knifed across the interstate and both sides of the highway were blocked solid. After 3 hours, the roads finally starting moving and I opted to get off and grab gas and dinner. I wish I had just gotten a bag of chips at the gas station. The place seemed OK. It was relatively clean and well lit. Hunger usually makes everything taste better, and my options in Cullman were kind of limited. After looking over their menu - they had just gotten rid of their Hobbit menu, which made me sad, as I was looking forward to trying some fried Hobbit - I opted for the Fish and Chips. I guess I should have known better when I asked my waitress if they have Malt Vinegar and she responded with "Say What?" My colleague's food arrived quickly - mine took much longer. When it finally arrived, it looked like they had forgotten to take any of it out of the fryer, as it was all a dark dark brown. But the part that made it so special was the long black hair sticking out of the middle of my fish! I am fairly sure that cod do not have long black hairs, but checked with my waitress anyway. She was properly apologetic and took it back. 15 minutes later, they handed me another plate - equally well done, but with no hair. While accidents do happen, there are some protocols that are standard. No manager came over. No meal was comped, etc. I doubt I will ever be back in Cullman, but if I am, I will definitely not be eating at Denny's. read more

This place is so nasty!!! Roaches crawling around and the stench of the carpet was unbearable. The cook Joyce was her name we saw looked as though she was on meth. She had rotten teeth and scabs everywhere, long colored black hair that looked greasier than the food. Her clothes were dirty and unkempt and she had an odor coming off of her. I rarely opt to go out to eat, but we decided to try this a.m.. The waitresses were behind the counter being extremely loud. It reminded me of a bunch of drama queens. When I go to a restaurant I do not expect to have to listen to someone else's drama. My hash browns were so crispy I thought I had gotten the leftovers of what was on the grill from the crumbs. Well first off we came here after work so we was tired and hungry we waited 30 minutes literally to get our order took the waitress Joyce disappeared after bringing our drinks out and we stated we wasn't ready she was nowhere in dining room for at least 10 minutes when she finally showed up in eye sight she came towards walked right past us all sitting here with our menus on the table obvious ready to order and she went to cleaning off nearby tables the place was empty with the exception of four tables scattered in the one open dining area and then she went behind the glass dividers and stood there talking to 2 other waitresses paying no regards to us and when she finally came over to get our order instead of apologizing for her delay in attention she just said ok are y'all ready yet....shortly after our order was placed she came back and preceded to shove a menu at me as if I knew why and stared and when I looked at her questioningly she said we are out of tots no customer service at all just felt as if we was a burden and it really annoyed me I wait tables for a leaving as well as work in kitchen part time I understand the stress and strain of the service industry and restaurant biz but I have no sympathy for Joyce because of her poor prioritizing and neglect and flat out rudeness read more

We have gone to this Denny's for years and last night was the last time we will go back. When we arrived there were only two tables occupied and they were almost done eating. The place was filthy. 1/2 the restaurant was blocked off and the 1/2 that was open had not been swept or vacuumed in hours at the very least. Trash and food all over floor. We waited 20 minutes for our order to be taken and then waited 40 minutes for our food. As other people came in, they were all seated up by us. There were plenty of tables available but they just piled everyone in the middle together and we were all sitting at one table essentially. The food arrived and it was terrible. My daughter and I got chicken tenders and they were only partially cooked. My husband's french toast was burned and my other daughter never did get salad dressing for her salad. All this for the family friendly price of $53. For 4 people. We could have gone to Cracker Barrel across the street or even Logan's and gotten steak for what we paid at Denny's for nasty food. Something has happened to this Denny's and it is not good. It used to be packed all the time and the staff was awesome.
