I love shopping at Denny's. Hard to believe that it is 18 years since I bought my first grandchild her layette here. Today I picked up a gift card for my neighbor's son's birthday; and everything I purchased in between has always been a hit. The staff is always so anxious to help and because they know the inventory so well, they know exactly where to take me whenI am shopping for something special. I cannot understand all the negative reviews - it's as if they all got paid to trash the store; it's as if they are writing about somewhere else. Strange! I wish I could put zero stars. This store was so unprofessionally run. The employees were yelling back and forth to each other. People were on each other registrar and having no idea what was going on. I waited on line to get simple gift card another customer walked in with a return spoke to someone on floor and the employee went to do her return She didn't even acknowledge me on line before her. After waiting 10 min on line the employee said I needed to be put into system in order to purchase a gift card. She said I cannot buy gift card without giving my name and email address. I walked out. The manager Jennifer in the Plainview location has to be one of the rudest, condescending, unprofessional people I have ever met. I've never been spoken to so rudely and demeaning before. She's got quite the attitude and speaks to you like she's annoyed to be helping you and she's better than you are. She's very dismissive and doesn't even speak professionally. I had stopped going there for a little while because I was so offended by the way she spoke to me, like I was an idiot, but had recently gone back and had to deal with her again on the register after her watching the line grow and not ringing, and then seeming annoyed she had to ring me at all. You're in customer service, sorry hunny your job is to serve the customer!! Unscrupulous business behavior! They steal ideas from small businesses, try to make subpar knockoffs and pass it off as if it was the original, unknowing to the consumer. Don't buy here. They are a dishonest business. read more

If i could give a negative star i would. Worst business in the world. Rude cashiers, rude staff and a "manager" who could care less about its loyal customers. Stay away from this place. There are much better places to spend your hard earned money. Other mothers have told me the same thing about this place. They obviously don't care about their customers. We went here for my layette and worked with Bobbi, who was a wealth of knowledge in addition to being very friendly. I look forward to getting clothes here for my son as he grows. Yes, it is pricey but they also have a unique selection and great customer service. read more

The allure of this place is beyond me. I've picked up items for my girls here and there. You have to be careful with the brands. Some of them fall apart after two washes. Those Dori leggings? The hems fall out, even though I wash them on delicate. The best part is that if I go there in gym clothes and no makeup, I end up with a store clerk blatantly following me around the store to make sure I'm not stealing their garbage clothes. You can pick up their better brands at Bloomies without the surveillance or the attitude. read more

A local chain that provides children's clothes..typically located in more well to do neighborhoods. Prices-Mid to high Locations-Very convenient Service-staff appears to be helpful when selecting clothes. The cashiers are not all that helpful and lines could take quite a while Selection-All around a wide selection for both boys and girls infants to early teens. Personally, I will never walk back into the store after an experience with a return. Their return policy is quite rigid compared to chain stores (no refund/exchange after 30 days and typically store refund for anything under that). But that is typically the experience you will get with a mom and pop chain. We are fairly regular customers to the store for clothing for our kids and for gift cards for birthdays. My experience in my most recent purchase was terrible. Here is my story, with the holidays approaching we did some shopping pre-Thanksgiving. Right before Christmas, we tried on some of the pants we bought the boys, one of the pairs was too big for my youngest. The tags had inadvertently pulled the labels off (a no no, but it happens when younger kids try on the pants and pull stuff off) and we misplaced one of them. I went to bring the pants back to the store with my receipt and what label I did have and was told there initially there was a 30 day return policy. I said listen, this was the holidays and we did shopping early and just tried them on as they were going to use for holiday parties. The initial cashier asked if they were worn as there was some "dirt marks" on the leg and the tags were removed. I said "no", I would not try to return them if that was the case, we just had tried them on at home. She then asked the manager who rudely said to me, they were probably worn and the tags were removed and probably bought elsewhere!!! Having worked in customer service for years, I was taken aback by the statement and could not believe the way it was stated to me. At that point I got quite irate with being treated that way by a store manager accusing me of wearing pants and potentially trying to bring back pants purchased elsewhere. That is beyond my personality and could not believe she said I would do something like that and too make matters works she spoke to me in a rude and accusatory tone. At that point, I spoke with another manager, who just said they would not take the return. Personally, I am OK with a stores return policy, but when given reasons that are accusatory and false (I don't care what other customers have done, I just care about my return) begs the question on how a store treats its customers. I told the other manager what happened and he understood my concern and was not really apologetic for the treatment. I consider their treatment of me unacceptable, thus my 2 rating. Since customer service is one of the most important business attributes, along with price/selection which they do an outstanding job on, hence I did not give a 1 rating. read more

I am not one to write reviews but this place was just SO AWFUL. So I got a gift from a family member from here despite being registered at babies r us. It was a cute play mat but we had already got one and didn't have room for a second. This store is 40 minutes out of my way but I figured why keep it if I won't use it? I get there and it is pouring rain outside- I do my best to keep the mat dry in its bag but...rain... I walk inside and there is a register immediately in front of me. A woman is doing a return so I assume oh this must be where you return things! Because in a lot of stores they have separate registers for returns to make sure customers are served quickly. I wait a while and realize there's a line a ways away and other registers calling next. So I try and get the cashiers attention- nope. Not even a glance. Which by the way if someone is clearly waiting by your register after just walking in you should ask if they need anything (5 plus years of customer service has taught me as much) So I go to the next cashier and somehow manage to get her attention after some difficulty- SHE DOESNT EVEN LOOK AT ME just motions to where the line is. So I wait in line and get to the register where the brilliant young cashier informs me that the mat got wet. I CANNOT CONTROL THE WEATHER IM SORRY. Somehow they find it in their hearts to still take it back BUT because my family member waited a month to give this to me their policy is to take 20% off the price. So for example I got $45 back but the mat probably cost around $60. They only give store credit also which is inconvenient because I don't shop here and it is so far from my home. But fine, whatever, surely a store specializing in children and babies would have plenty of practical items I will need for when my baby comes. There is a little room with specialty baby stuff. For example a $50 onesie and set of three muslins for $54. I walked around the room for a long while unsure of what to get. It isn't that there is no staff in that little room but the staff person was very busy with one customer for the entire hour I was there. Because it did in fact take me an hour to find a few items to equal up to $45 but not go over by a ton. There was one point where I had a question about an item and waited by the counter area where the staff member was helping the ONE woman...and again nothing. No acknowledgement at all. As an aside- I am definitely not this stores target demographic. Their target demo is someone who spends more on their newborns coming home outfit than I spend on a years wardrobe for myself. The staff was rude, the customers were rude (one man almost walked into me TWICE because he wouldn't look behind him before just backing away mid strut). The bottom line even if you do not read this entire review- do NOT buy someone a gift from here. Torture yourself with this awful store as much as you want but please do not subject others to this strange hell. read more

Let's just start of by saying I must have dropped well over 10000$ there over the years . I recently lost my husband so I hadn't been in their a while , but I did notice just coming in that there was a lot of new staff. I ended up purchasing a sweatshirt for my daughter Adidas jacket and an expensive shirt for my son, (as well as buying a 35 $ baby gift.) I knew he would love it so I went right ahead .i actually also put several things on hold . I was late and right upon leaving a new sales associate unlocked the door and right as I was going out she actually said to me " you know we do watch ". On the way to the car as I processed I turned on my heel . No way was this lady accusing me of shop lifting . I knocked on the door the ( I m guessing floor manager ( I ve known her a long time /she s always been great / dark hair ) opened asking what was wrong . I explained that believe it or not the one the sales associates had implied pretty obviously that I was or was trying to shop lift. I told her my situation , she apologized and said she would talk to the lady and to ignore it. What happened I suppose was that I tried on several bracelets for my daughter and to do so took of my watch and shoved it into my pocket . I assume she thought I shoved some jewelry in with it. ( my assessment of how she could have thought I was shoplifting ) So after the apology I kinda tried to put it to the side as a one time incident . I returned next day since I had leggings to match my daughters sweatshirt on hold and my daughter wanted some accessories ( socks ,hair etc ) . So I hear some one say "you know", the other girl responded "i got it " (that was all but some how it felt like it was directed at me . Surely enough a couple of minutes later a shop girl walks up and asks if she can hold my shopping bag in the front for me . My jaw must have literally dropped to the ground I have shopped I this store for years often with bags.never once being asked to leave one in the front . ( to me it's the marker of " cheap stores were the clients are notorious thieves ) have u ever had them ask to hold your bag at hermes or Saks . Well I certainly haven't !! Apart it was a tiny toy store bag . So that was it I left my basket went to the cashier asked for the mangers names and numbers were I will make a complaint Monday . I refuse to. Be treated like this especially after just loosing my husband - I'm disgusted with the store . Bit of a shame to you could literally get everything in there . But idrather make two stops then be treated like that's .there's always please mum in Woodbury who are great. leisters in greenvale does a super. Jobandforcamp btw Leisters please mum and all the new accessory stores such as sweet spot and kidcessorries we ll be absolutely fine. Disgusted with Denny 's it's a shame but I m giving Denny's at least a year break till I even think about setting foot in there again. It's an alright place to shop if your into overpaying on cute boutique-style clothes for kids and if you get past the mostly rude and pushy sales clerks, I prefer to go for some hard to find accessories snd baby socks and I don't mind the salespeople. read more

I shop at the various Denny's in Nassau County. I have been in this one a few times before. The other day, I went in because I received an email about a sale of 90% off. I went into the store and over one rack of clothing was the sign for 90 percent off, so i calculated the cost. When, I went to the cashier,she said that it was not ninety percent off which is very misleading. Nevertheless, i said okay than i will not take it and she gave me the biggest attitude ever as if i had committed a crime. Very unprofessional and rude. read more

I've shopped at multiple Denny's locations (Plainview, Commack, Oceanside and LIttle Neck Pkwy) during the early year's of my children's lives (now ages 8, 10 and 12). Hoping that my experience will somehow be better. However, I finally came to my senses and realized that it was foolish to spend my money in an establishment where I've never received good customer service. The staff in all these locations with the exception of Oceanside are rude, condescending and only cater to the moms who seem to spend every waking moment shopping at Denny's. The staff is not helpful and sometimes having 3 children in tow, it would have been nice if someone offered assistance,not even once. Additionally, they do not market to african-american shoppers. I generally shop at high quality children's clothing stores for my 3 children and find Denny's offers a wide selection of quality clothing and accessories. However, I'm bothered that none of their advertisting in-store, online or mailings feature children who represent members of the african-american or any other ethnic group. They may need a lesson in DIVERSITY! I guess Denny's doesn't want our money. Anyway, glad to say that I no longer spend my hard earned money at Denny's.
