I don't usually write negative reviews. As a business owner, I understand that people can have negative experiences sometimes and our businesses' reputations are vital to our livelihood. However, I have given this practice several days now to follow up and attempt to respond to my concerns and they have not. I went in for an initial appt and was not clearly informed that I would not have a cleaning. They told me it would be $320 out of pocket for the first appt including full xrays (they never asked if I had xrays done in the last year or if I wanted them done - looking back I would have gotten some sent from my last dentist). They gave me a tour of their many exam rooms and only one dentist - which made me question the quality of their care. The hygienist was struggling with equipment that was not working properly and after explaining that I have a phobia of vomitting and don't like feeling like I may gag, it took a solid 45 minutes of xrays to get it done. She was doing the best she could but it was a really awful circumstance and she was struggling to keep her cool. There was no problem solving or attempt to move me to a different room. The dentist was informed of the issue and seemed only minimally interested in noticing it or fixing it. Next the dentist came in and roughly pushed his fingers into my mouth attempting to put his finger down my throat despite my saying I did not like or want him to do that. He didn't explain why he needed to do so (I have never had a dentist do this before) and stated he would do it when I wasn't paying attention. He then proceeded to quiz me about anxiety and seemed to be making some judgments about what was wrong with me and handed me some information about a tedx talk but didn't share what it was about or how he felt it related to me. Later I went home and watched it and it referred to people with tongue issues, breastfeeding, posture, swallowing and snoring, which I do not relate to AT ALL. I am not sure what he felt my problem was - I asked but he seemed to have his own agenda hidden in his mind which he did not communicate to me. I also didn't ask for support with anxiety (I am a psychotherapist and am clear and comfortable with the symptoms I experience). It was clear he needed to feel intelligent but failed to get to know me before diagnosing me with issues that were out of his scope of practice. It was super judgey and condescending. The lack of clarity was confusing as well. Then they ushered me to the front and said I would come back for a cleaning. When I explained to them that I didn't have clarity that I wouldn't get a cleaning, I got some defensiveness and some apologies. I explained that I felt swindled into their "membership plan" bc I had just paid $320 and didn't even get my teeth cleaned, just a horrid experience. Financially, it would have made sense to sign up for that deal, now that I had already sunk $320 into my care there, but I didn't want to return and felt I had just wasted a bunch of time and money. I feel like you should be able to consult with a dentist first before feeling like you are committed. This dentist and system made me feel I had no choice - no voice or say. I asked to speak to the dentist or someone and by the time they finished loudly sharing my concerns in the back office and finally returned to touch base with me 10 minutes later, I was crying. I explained that I didn't have the emotional bandwidth to discuss it in the office right then and there. The dentist said he wanted to resolve it and I said I just needed to leave at that point. They didn't offer to reduce or waive my fee, just let me go ahead and pay in full and leave crying. I would have expected that if they really cared to resolve the issues, they could understand that I was too overwhelmed to talk in that moment and that they should follow up by phone or email later that day or the next day. I feel like this dentist is focused more on making money and feeling valid as an expert than he is in his integrity and care of patients as a dentist. Oh - and they use business sales tactics to gain 5 star reviews. read more

I highly recommend Dental Horizons. Unfortunately I'm no stranger to having cavities filled, but ive never had a pain free experience before. Dr Kelson filled several cavities with no pain or discomfort, which has never happened for me before. I just finished my first appointment at dental horizons and could not be happier. The team was wonderful from the moment I walked in the door until the moment I left. I even got a call from the dentist himself yesterday to see if I had any specific concerns that I wanted to discuss in advance! Today's exam was the most thorough exam I think I've ever had. Their equipment is state of the art and the office is very well equipped and clean. Along the way they explained everything they did and were very thoughtful about making recommendations and making sure that I was comfortable. They even have what they refer to as a "comfort menu" where they offer blankets, warm neck pillows, earbuds, etc. to help make your visit as comfortable as possible physically as well as emotionally. My first impression is that this practice deserves an A+. read more

Don't go unless you have perfect teeth, otherwise they make you feel like shit.

I don't recommend this dentist. Even though everyone is friendly, you will most likely end up spending money on unnecessary procedures. I tried this dentist after moving to Longmont. I have always had really healthy teeth, no cavities. They would not accept my X-rays from my last dentist because they weren't electronic, even though they were taken only 6 months prior. The dentist looked at my teeth and told me a list of concerns, which I had never heard before. They checked my insurance and told me that X-rays would be covered. This was very misleading, because what they didn't tell me was that I would have to pay a deductible and then they were covered at 80%. I ended up leaving and am so glad that I did! I went to Longmont Family Dentistry and had a great experience. They gladly accepted my X-rays from my previous dentist and had no concerns about my teeth. Watch out for dentists that oversell procedures, Dental Horizons seems to be one of them. read more

Went in today for a crown replacement. Dr. Kelson is skilled, knowledgable, and uses the latest technology to complete the procedure. Moreover, he was very concerned about my comfort, making sure that I didn't feel any pain. Stevie, his assistant during the procedure, was also skilled and sensitive to my state of mind like Dr. Kelson. This practice goes above and beyond in customer service, too. I didn't think my insurance would cover my treatment, but Judi, their the practice's financial person, investigated my coverage and discovered that my treatment would be covered. I hadn't been to the dentist in years and decided it was time to go. They made me feel welcome, and they didn't give me a bunch of grief when I told them that I hadn't been to a dentist in a long time. Sure, I needed some work done, and it was done in a very professional and friendly manner. When I arrived, they gave me a tour of the facility and explained every detail of what was going to take place. This was a huge departure from my previous dentist that would put me in a cubicle and have me wait for 1/2 hour before seeing me. Our family went to here a couple of times. The dentist practice was fine, however we soon left because of the never ending deluge of junk mail, spam e-mails, and sales pressure for add on services. We have not been there for at least 3 years, and still cannot get them to stop sending us spam and junk mail. No amount of "unsubscribe me" works with this practice. read more
