My experience at Dental One Associates was one I must leave a positive review on as I am an individual who absolutely loves an excellent patient experience! As an RN of 20 ++ years I have always been sure to leave my patients with a feeling of security yet give them the true empathy they deserve and at Dental One Associates in Fredericksburg VA I experienced just that with Dr Christopher Beiner and his staff. My visit occurred at the end of the day after I left my office in the Burg. I was greeted with friendly calming ladies at the front desk and shown where the waiting area was while I filled out my new patient forms briefly. After only a few minutes of being shown to the waiting area, my name was called by my dental assistant/hygienist who graciously introduced herself and escorted me to my dental chair. After moments of sitting down Dr Beiner walked in and sat down beside me to introduce himself and chat a little before we discussed the reason for my visit in further detail. His calming affect and expertise were just a few of his most favored assets, but bottom line he was amazing all the way around The absolute best part was that he fixed my problem same day which was my cavity. In all my years as a patient and professional, I have never had or seen such excellent service and this meant the world to me. Dr Beiner and Staff, I would love to extend my appreciation for the experience I had in your office . What you all didn't know is that I was having an incredibly tough day and the pain that cavity was creating made it much worse, that is until Dr Beiner fixed it. Dental One Pikesville notified me that they were having problems getting a claimed processed. I called my insurance company and found out that they needed license information from the dentists office. When I called Dental One back and asked them to call my insurance company, they told me that it wasn't their responsibility. I then asked for the license information to which they told me that they could not give that information to me. They are not helpful at all. If they just took 2 minutes to call the insurance company, they could have gotten paid a lot quicker and it would have went a long way for customer service. Instead, I had to call back and forth to get the matter cleared up. I canceled my next appointment and will not be going back. I also filed a complaint with my insurance company, as they are an "in network provider". I have no patience for people telling me "it's not their job" to help fix a situation and to get information that they in fact need. Complete laziness! read more

The Ortho department is only in the office every other Thursday which makes scheduling appointments nearly impossible. Don't miss or have to cancel because it will usually mean another 1-2 months before you can see the Ortho Department again. Next time I will do more research, and go with a full time Ortho office. Summary: Asked for a cleaning covered by insurance. I got neither a cleaning nor were most of the appointment's costs covered by insurance. Having just moved to Baltimore and not been to the dentist in 1 1/2 years, I decided to make use of my shiny new dental insurance. The first two dentists didn't answer their phone. Dental One was the third dentist I called and they said they could "squeeze me in" for a cleaning the next day. When I lived in Boston, a cleaning would be $120 and every 5 years they would take some x-rays for an additional $100, all of this cash without dental insurance. When I made the appointment, I asked whether the appointment would be covered by my insurance, and they assured me that it would be. I got there to a nearly empty office, filled out a form giving date of last x-rays just 2 years ago. They took 6 x-rays, asked to take more x-rays (which I declined and they argued with me about this), barely looked in my mouth, and told me to come back if I wanted a cleaning. I demurred, and within 2 weeks they sent me a postcard to notify me that I'm "behind" in my dental care. As I was leaving, I asked whether there was a co-pay, and they said there wasn't and that it would all be covered I just got the invoice for the visit, and the bill went as follows: 4 x-rays and the appointment were covered, but they charge $28 + $39 more than the insurance covers, respectively. Not a huge deal, but 2 x-rays were not covered at all and come to $50, and the additional x-rays they had tried to talk me into getting may not have been covered either. So much for their assurance that everything they were doing was covered by insurance. Total bill: $186. My share: $141. And it would have been even worse if I hadn't actively declined the other x-rays. I've learned my lesson. Next time I will go to U Maryland Dental School. Btw, the address shown isn't the current address: they moved to Hooks Lane in Pikesville. read more

Sad demise of a once great practice. I used to come here when I needed an urgent appointment with Dr. Mazer or a cleaning with Crystal. Just like their Columbia office, he and the wonderful office staff and assistants "disappeared." I don't know if Crystal is still there, but she was great. Dental One is now known for selling unnecessary services instead of treating responsibly. Since my last visit there, I found my former periodontist, Dr. Mazer, elsewhere, and I am very happy. I miss Crystal, but I'm so horrified by their whole practice that I would never go back. Shame on Dental One. read more

Just checking in to let everyone know that their service has only gotten worse in the last year. They have one hygenist who's there one day a week. And the revolving door of dentists has not stopped spinning. Currently there is a Dr. Butts whose name at least seems to fit the rest of the organization. read more

Avoid this place. I used to have great experiences at Dental One, but when I moved to Baltimore it went downhill quickly. They constantly mess up claims, and then aren't flexible in scheduling ortho appointments, even if you offer to drive somewhere else. It's a mess, if you can avoid - do so. I am very upset by this practice and warn others to think twice before coming here First I have a crown fall off because the tooth split off with no sign of decay. The crown was a little over a year old and Dr Butts said there was not enough tooth for another crown so my options were an implant or bridge.. The next follow up appointment she announced I was the one in such a hurry to have it pulled .The final straw was when I went for a cleaning I told them a tooth in mouth felt funny.They examined it told me to use this special toothbrush like flossing and it would take care of it,The next week it really hurt so I went back again to find out I need a root canal and a crown.The dentist announced how she had notes that this tooth was in trouble from my previous visit mouths before from a cleaning without ever telling me.She announced that she was waiting until I had symptoms before treating - what happened to preventive treatment which they stress on their web page?This practice is owned by a corporation that fires dentists if they do not bring in a certain amount of money coming right from Dr Butts mouth and as a result so have a high turn over .I am guessing she was hoping to bring in money by waiting until my condition got worse.I went to a doctor separate from the practice who worked for them years ago to see if i needed the root canal Dr Butts claimed. .Well I also had an abscess in the tooth that he said that Dr Butts should have seen. While he was working at Dental One years ago he saw them prescribing root canals when just filling the tooth would have fixed the issue.At least they are consistent trying to push high cost treatment at the expense of the patient. read more

At first I would have highly recommended this office but now that I'm being financially held responsible for mistakes their office made I DONT RECOMMEND THIS DENTAL OFFICE!!This office entered the wrong code on my claim which caused AETNA to deny the claim. After I made numerous calls on both ends to find out why the claim was denied. The claim was corrected and resubmitted. Dental one received the amount for service from AETNA but now is saying I'm responsible for it having to go to collections ( because it was late. Dealing with customer service and disputing bills take time) It was late and not being paid because I was trying find the reason for denial on my claim. IF DENTAL ONE WOULD HAVE SUBMITTED THE CORRECT CODE. AETNA WOULD NOT HAVE DENIED MY CLAIM AND THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN PAID WITHIN THE APPROPRIATE TIMEFRAME!! read more

V V very poor services and very incompetent staff. I had the worst experience of my life with them. The dr. I started was very nice and helpful, but the staff is very bad, they OVERCHARGED me and my husband total of 650 $. I know my plan very well so I was kinda surprised when every single time they told us that we have to pay the copay. After calling my insurance company when i called the office they denied that they got any letters from my insurance company. They lied every time. I finally got reimbursed by my insurance....... I have to agree with others who have commented on the lack of hygienists (completely agree that Crystal is great, when you finally get to see her!) and on the ability for this office to keep a regular dentist on their roster. I have seen 4-5 different dentists in the last 4 years. Whats up with that??? Makes me wonder why they are leaving. In a recent experience, I was given an estimate for upcoming services. There were two changes for "upgrade" of both a porcelain crown, and a night guard upgrade, in addition to the base charges for both these items. Nearly $450.00 in excess charges, above an beyond what my insurance would cover. When asked, they could not tell me what the upgrades bought me. They agreed to remove the upgrade charges before any work was done. These were completely bogus charges (especially the night guard upgrade - the insurance company told me to definitely question that one). Buyer beware!!! read more

I have been a patient of this dental practice for approximately 4-5 years. Crystal, the Hygienist is great. She does a really good job cleaning and in a gentle way. She is consistent. However, the staff changes so frequently that you are unable to develop a trusting relationship with any of the Dentists. Most recently I have had the absolute WORST experience I have ever had in my dental history. I pre-paid to get fillings taken care of. The first set filled had some sensitivity but I thought that would heal in time. The following week I filled my second set. It was painful from start and still even now after 3 MONTHS!!!! I have made 2 more visits since then and not only did they say there was not anything wrong, there was a new dentist instead. I was also hit with bogus leftover billing which they should have reconciled much earlier. You really think someone wants to pay now after such poor service?!! I cannot eat anything hot, warm, cool, cold, sweet or too hard. After getting yet another opinion from a much more reputable dentist, they found that my fillings have space between them and the teeth. NOT A SURPRISE!!! Now because my insurance company wasted money with the shabby work of Dental One of Pikesville, I HAVE TO COME OUT OF POCKET just to eat normally again! Not to mention going through the pain and drilling AGAIN. This Dental One of Pikesville even has the nerve to bother with a bill. They need to pay ME!!! BEWARE!!!! read more

I am posting this on Angie's list in hopes that others will not experience what I have experienced at Dental One Associates in Pikesville, MD. Dr. Robin Greenspan, DDS and Crystal Boyer, RDH are absolutely wonderful. They do excellent work. However, I have had many challenges with the receptionist and the office manager as it relates to informing me what I have to pay for the services rendered. Let me further elaborate. I have been a patient for over 11 years. I have several visits where I have been unhappy with the service by the office staff. However, I realize that people make mistakes and everyone deserves a second and maybe even a third chance. Well, my visit on December 6, 2012 to the office was the last time I will have services rendered in the Dental One Associates -Pikesville Office. The reason I have made this decision is because of not knowing what I have to pay until the end of the visit. When I set in the chair to have my cleaning done, I was thinking that I would only have to pay the usual $50.00 for my cleaning, etc. However, on this visit I was informed that I needed x-rays, etc. Well, I should have stopped everything right then and there and asked for an estimate of charges. When I went to the receptionist, she informed me that my estimated charges for the day were $182.00. She couldn't even tell me the details. She told me that my insurance had met the maximum. Because I only paid a portion of the bill, I could not schedule my follow-up appointment. I called my insurance provider who informed me that I had not met my maximum. This is not the first time that I have had this experience with Dental One Associates. If you should have services done at Dental One Associates, let me provide you with some helpful tips so that you will not be billed for services that are not covered by the insurance or due to duplication of services. 1. Before making an appointment, be sure you know your Dental benefits. 2. Request a Treatment History from your Dental Insurance Provider each time before you go into the office. The Treatment History will provide you with a list of procedures you have had within the past 12 months. There are benefit limitations and you need to make sure the dental office staff knows what your limits are. Otherwise, you will receive a bill, and you will not be able to schedule another appointment until you have paid this bill. Remember, the dental office will always get paid whether it is through your dental insurance or you, the patient. 3. Make sure before you sit in the chair to have a procedure or procedures that you know exactly what is being done. In other words, know the dental codes and reconcile those codes with your Delta Insurance Treatment History to make sure there is no limitation. Otherwise as previously stated, you will be paying out of pocket. 4. Request a copy of the claim that will be mailed to the dental insurance office for your review and for your records. Make sure that the provider that is on the claim is the treating dentist. If you do not recognize the treating dentist, inquire as to why the person on the claim is not the treating dentist. I hope sharing my experience with you and providing some helpful tips, will empower you as a patient and a consumer so that you have more money in your pocket, and you don't have to "pay for your learning". This office provides horrible service. They have a scheduling department based out of Florida who apparently does not communicate with the office in Pikesville. I've gone there twice and was told that I didn't have an appointment. They also said that I didn't have dental insurance. I had to call my Insurance company from their lobby to confirm that my insurance was active. Just one big hassle and run around twice now. A waste of time and money. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!! read more
