I have to admit I waited almost a week after getting my root canal to come back and review my dental experience. I waited because I was immediately impressed and amazed by how my root canal went. This was my very first root canal. Dr.Brit (I believe-sorry I'll confirm) and his assistant Kristen/christen? are an AMAZING TEAM! I was properly and completely numb, they communicated well, kept me well informed, watched for any body language from me and checked on my comfort, celebrated the conclusion and offered to become my primary with general follow up and of course my crown which I cannot wait for. I was at this office a few years ago for a root canal and the literal procedure itself went fine. However, the dentist that did the procedure (still working there) had the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced. He was extremely unprofessional, condescending, and spoke to coworkers negatively about my dental situation as if I wasn't right there with his hands in my mouth. He asked about my flossing habits and then challenged my response - actually saying there was "no way" that I floss twice a day... I cannot express just how happy and satisfied I am after going here. My doctor was amazing, the assistant was even more amazing, and the treatment plan coordinator was incredible as well. They all made me feel so welcome and so cared for. They also made me feel so comfortable with the treatment plan options and the financial responsibilities of it all. It was an all around fantastic experience and I would recommend this place to any and every one that I know. They treated me with so much respect and dignity and I just felt so heard and seen. They went over every single problem I have with my teeth and every possible solution. Everyone took their time and made sure I had the best care. Just cant get any better than this service. This practice is horrible! They do not care about their patients and when you write a complaint on their Facebook page because they won't return your emails or phone calls they remove the negative comments and only post positive comments. BEWARE! I was a patient of Dr. Brett and he seemed nice and knowledgeable but once I paid for the appliance he suggested I needed he said he could not help me anymore. Also the office staff are horrific. Not only is it impossible to get in touch with anyone but the wait time for appointments was ridiculously long. So if you don't have an hour or more to wait around you might want to choose another practice. On the off chance I have been able to call and actually speak to a human on the phone and not leave multiple messages, I was told that "there is nothing more Dr. Brett could do for me." In addition to the lack of care or concern from office staff to even return phone calls or emails, I have yet to hear from Dr. Brett who has not called to see how I am, follow up with the problems I have been having, or reached out with some ideas for additional treatment options It seems that once they get your money for the appliance that doesn't work they are done with you. read more

If I had to rate this only on the dentists and the assistance only, I would give this practice a 5 star. BUT, the other staff are horrible. Brittany specifically. She is rude and condescending. She is dismissive of people with disabilities, plus as of April, their elevator doesn't work with no set date of completion. If you have a problem, their office manager is only there until noon, but do not plan on ever being able to get in touch with them. They will overcharge you beyond the limits of what your insurance deductibles are, even though they say that they take your insurance. And God forbid if you are a male and you do not have a deep voice, they will tell you that you are not the original patient over the phone and can't speak to you because they can't verify your identity after you give them your name, birthdate, your address and phone numbers read more

They added a $44 "dental hygiene instruction" charge to a routine cleaning bill. So, taking to the dentist during a routine cleaning costs money? With insurance, the cleaning should be free, but their added fees and services were rejected by insurance and they are still attempting to charge me. Billing and charges on a larger procedure before seemed unusual, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. No more. Please save both your money and your health. They had us back 4-5 times for a tooth. Started with replacing the filling, then said it needed a root canal (and didn't mention a crown or put on a temporary), and finally said the tooth is fractured and needs to come out. Blunders all the way with no professional guidance, but they didn't have any problem billing out the maximum to our insurance company and collect almost $1,000 out of pocket from us. Trust me, find someone different, this place has one goal - get them money! read more

I needed a new partial. Came here by recommendation. I was told that it would take 2 weeks to get a pre-auth for the procedure (fitting and production of the partial i guess??) I do Medical Billing and maybe Dental billing is different but It generally maybe takes one-three phone calls to obtain an auth, and maybe a three days total. So thought that was a little shady but whatever. So anyway, they upsaled the hell out of me!!!! I could of gotten a tooth replaced within the acrylic partial or the same partial just recreated. They tried to sell me a partial that was 1750 leaving my balance $600. You have a different dentist every visit, it doesn't seem like any of the records are maintained so its like your starting all over each visit. Its literally a factory, just a line of booths with dentist. Not to mention no actual walls or doors between you and the next patient. So no privacy. Ummm HIPPA?? They also told me i needed a root canal and like 3 fillings. When i ask if i could just get the partial first, I WAS TOLD YES. come back to get fitted for the partial and they refused to do it saying i needed to get cavities filled and root canal and crowns filled. So here i am a month in and nowhere along with the process. I do understand that i could possibly have to get work done for the type of UNNECESSARY partial they upsold me, but i was lied to when all i wanted was to replace a simple partial. I requested my money back and decided to find a new provider. Dont reccomend due to the honesty practices and enviroment. read more

I've been avoiding getting my teeth cleaned for a while now. I, like many people, have a fear of the dentist. No need at this office. The front desk was very warm when I was greeted. I even came in about 10 minutes late and they still got me in and out in a very timely manner. The hygienist was very nice and upbeat. She checked in with me several times to make sure I was comfortable. She worked quickly but it didn't seemed rushed at all. She used this new water pick to clean my teeth that I had never experienced before and it was so much better than the usual method of picking and scraping at my teeth and gums. Dr. Friedman comes across as very confident, gentle, and like he really knows his stuff. He seems to really enjoy his job and his patients and it shows in his work. If you're looking for a great dental practice with cutting edge technology this is the place for you! read more

I went there for my first visit as a self pay patient and the visit was very pleasant and professional. They recommended a treatment plan which I thought was very comprehensive. However on my second visit having got insurance the formulated treatment plan was no more and I was charged $130 even though it was clearly stipulated by my insurance that my co-pay cost for an in network dentist was $25. I figured that the treatment plan was abandoned since the insurance would deem most of it unnecessary and would not pay for it. Part of the charges on my bill was a $44 for dental hygiene instruction that I never got and a $50 charge for drugs and medication that they say was used during the procedure as was explained after I called to verify the charges when I got home. These are the same charges that the insurance declined to pay for. Funny thing is, after the procedure I was told that I was free to leave with no charge to me and was only charged the $130 when I came back to ask a question. I called twice on the issue and was told that those charges stuck because the insurance would not pay for them, a very uncourteous Jackie explained to me from the other end of the phone. $100 is not a lot of money to loose but since I can no longer trust them, my wife and I will look for a different dental practice. read more

Huge shout out to all the staff at Towson Smile Care. I always find the staff to be highly professional and the customer service exceptional from scheduling, reminders, on-line check-in and remaining on schedule. My hygienist, Ashley, told me how they modified procedures to improve their already high standards for infection control. I walked in and the front desk staff didn't make me sign in with the community pen and had me all checked in and insurance verified in seconds. A co-worker was wiping down the counter with alcohol. I was barely seated when I was called back. My hygienist (Ashley) and the dentist were positive, professional and thorough. These professionals work in people's mouths with splashing fluids and sharp instruments. Yet, they explained how they were taking extra precautions thebADA has been putting out daily to further protect me. They really stay up to date with best practices. I had a 6 month follow up appointment before I left and an email confirmation. I highly recommend this office for their exceptional team of professionals and their use of technology to improve efficiency. read more

Do not go here! The dentists are condescending, the hygienists are unprofessional, and the service is terrible. I've had cleanings and cavities filled here and the dentist literally moves from patient to patient, back and forth. I had to come here in multiple trips, just to have two cavities filled. The dentist cracked my tooth and asked to fix it for me. I had to make it very clear that I would not have any dental work done at this practice anymore. I found out about Towson Smile Care through 1-800 Dentist. I was from out of town and having serious jaw pain. Dr. Fishman identified the cause of my pain (a muscle spasm) and gave me clear directions on how to get better. He and the staff were helpful and very courteous. And reasonably priced as well. This office lists its self first for emergency services on google but when called it took hours to respond - I called three times over three hours before being called back- and they will not, in fact, come in for emergency services. Also- they list as accepting United Concordia but they only accept certain plans. They do not support TRICARE military services through United Concordia - which is the plan for full time active duty military members. First experience that I had was just horrible! I had a bad toothache and wanted to see a dentist; pulled this practice off BBB; couldn't get a quick appointment. Scheduled one about 10 days away, but in the meantime I got to see another provider; when I wanted to cancel appointment, I was threatened about having to pay anyway. I told the Rep "that's not going to happen" she responded " are you threatening me, are you threatening me?" Then she hang up the phone. Few minutes later, a lady called and identified herself as the practice manager, here is what she said "my employee came to me very upset and stated that you threatened her that you'll come to the office and show her who's the boss!" .... Couldn't just figure out what was going on. She didn't even asked as to what happened, and she just assumed that I was some kind of barbarian who just have time to waste doing stupid stuff. I told her " do you think that I have time to waste like that?" She said "we will put your name somewhere so that if you come here we will call the police" so I was curious and asked her " is this a threat? Because I can have my lawyer call you back and see how this goes!" And "may I ask what your name is" she sat there and hang up! I was just wandering how did this practice get a BBB rating? Good thing that I am a healthcare provider and I do understand to step back and think. My threat was to see what charges they wanted to apply and get them convicted for fraud; but they wanted to use some kind of extortion? Why would you be angry with a customer calling to cancel their appointment? Shouldn't the customer receive the appropriate care especially when they are paying for it? I suck at remembering names) was very sweet and personable. Overall I enjoy choosing Towson Smiles as my primary dentist. The group as a whole ranging from the Front desk staff to the Dentist are very friendly. My only complaint/confusion is that they advertise themselves as a "spa-like" atmosphere. In my several office visits nothing above or beyond is done nor are there any luxuries offered. It is just an average dental office. I am not saying I need a massage or robe offered to me but some simple things would be nice. Maybe offer me a beverage. To my knowledge there are no beverages even in the lounge. During my appointment it would be nice if chapstick, sunglasses, or if I was asked if the temperature was comfortable. Come to think of it I don't think music is even played during appointments but I could be wrong. If your looking for routine services and a friendly staff this is a great place, but if I had to switch offices for any reason there would be nothing I missed here. read more
