The only reason I gave this place two stars instead of one is because my orthodontist is fantastic. As for everything else? Terrible. The receptionist here is extremely rude and it's impossible to schedule an appointment with them due to their third party scheduler (they never know whats going on, nor do they speak English to any extent, really). On top of all of that, I had to have my wisdom teeth surgically removed. They referred me to their oral surgeon at the Fairlawn location, which was fine. However, my appointment had been made for over a week and they didn't call me regarding my insurance coverage until not even 24 hours before my appointment. It was over $1,000 and they expected me to pay it all at once, no payment plans. This isn't the first time something like this has happened with them, either. They are really rough when they clean your teeth and the receptionist who makes appointments is the most rude nasty person on the phone multiple times. It is so difficult to make appointments they have a third party scheduler that never knows what's going on. The did my filling wrong and painfully. The dentist is nice but that is about it. I was so upset when my insurance changed and I had to find a new dentist a few years ago. I walked in this office with an attitude and walked out with a smile. I was used to private dentistry and frowned upon 'storefront' dental services. This group was so kind, fun, funny! Dr. Rogriguez was professional; he was informative, he listened to my thoughts and concerns, and we put a plan together that was going to work best for me. I walked out and immediately started referring other people to him and this office. I had a really sore tooth just last year. He referred me to an endodontist but they could not get me in within a reasonable time. Dr. R. began the root canal to relieve the pain. I still ended out going to the endodontist to complete the root canal and Dr. R. did not even charge me! That tells you something about the character of this Dentist! read more

Would NEVER recommend this place. We switched to an HMO with work insurance and they defaulted to put us in this office. My husband and I both had xrays and our teeth cleaned 6 months ago. We go to the dentist regularly. When we showed up here, they took several xrays - way more than needed, as well as painful - like the person didn't know what they were doing and the xrays were all jagged and scratchy. We were charged for a portion that I still need to find out from my insurance as to why. THE BEST PART - no cleaning for either of us. They wanted us to schedule another appointment for cleaning. Seriously?? Oh, it gets better... the "dentist" came in and said that I needed a root canal (they did the same for my husband on a tooth that he already had a root canal on). Then they said I needed my wisdom teeth out - again, for no reason. Neither of us have any issues or pain - we just wanted the 6 month cleaning. I called the HMO and switched to a different dental office who did our cleaning and surprisingly enough - no other issues. read more

What a wonderful practice and doctor. I called in a panic because my uncle had a bit of an emergency. The receptionist was empathetic and reassuring and made arrangements to get us in the same day. The first thing I noticed when I arrived for the appointment was the diversity of the staff. Bravo. Dr. Rodriguez was exceedingly caring, kind and compassionate, as was his assistant and all the staff we encountered. He diagnosed the issue right away and provided treatment for my uncle. He did not bill us as an emergency visit as I'm certain most other practices would but very generously billed as a new patient visit at a reduced rate. This thoughtfulness combined with his professionalism and the great staff have won me over and not only will we return for my uncle's further care but I plan to switch to this practice for my own dental care. read more

Absolutely awful experience all this place is, is a money pit. They will try and make you get things you don't even need. And say well you have insurance, well what does that have to do with anything. Just because I have insurance doesn't mean I want you charging them an arm and a leg. I was so mad I walked out today. HORRIBLE !!!! ------------------------------- --- Update 8/13/18 after seeing the response from the office. They do not address the two major issues a) Why they do not send credit to customers when they can send bills if the owe money b) Why the billing person decides on treatments and why the patient is not informed of those. --------------------------------------------------------- Someone who had good experience here may be exception or may be the office influenced the feedback someway. I live in Avon and I can provide testimony to the following with paperwork. Dentalworks in Avon run by Dr. Clifford L. Thomas is a dental factory with dubious business practices. Their stuff admits this in an indirect way. Incident#1 -- I go for a treatment and was given an estimate of $400 out-of-pocket estimate. I told them my insurance is very good and insisted on paying half of that, $200. Weeks later, I get my EOB from insurance and see they paid almost all of the fees. I called Dentalworks. They said "yes you have $192 credit to your account. how do you want it back". Duh ? I have credits and you would not let me know unless I ask for it ? Incident#2 - 8/7/2018, 10:10 am - account person in Dentalworks Avon, when asked if customer is under-billed, they sends bill to them but if they overcharged - they do not send the credits automatically. !!!! In other words - we keep your money as long as we can !!! Incident#3 - 8/8/2018 - same visit - accountant gives me an estimate of $72 out of pocket for a cleaning appointment with hygenist only - and not even seeing a dentist for a consultation. I asked are you sure about this estimate ? Your estimate has been much higher than real cost. She says "we do the best we can for estimates". She showed me 4 items they are going to bill - 3 of them are not covered by insurance. THEN, WITHOUT TELLING ME OR ASKING MY PERMISSION, SHE TELLS THE HYGIENIST NOT TO PERFORM THOSE THAT WERE NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE ( ACCORDING TO HER, WHERE SHE HAS BEEN WRONG IN THE PAST ) !! So, this dentist place is run by accounting and billing person. They decide what treatment you get, what they will charge the insurance, and unless challenged, will not return your money.. While in the dental room, I overheard talk from another patient complaining about billing practices. I am thinking of my next step of getting this practice out of the community. Not sure if it is Dr. Thomas or the whole franchise that it works under that is rotten. read more

Will never go back!! My 12 yr old son had to have periodontal work done because his gum line was receding. They told me this had to be done now and if I didn't correct now, it would be worse for him later. I gave them my insurance information and assumed they would contact the insurance company to confirm benefits and what would be allowed. Stupid me for assuming. Services were rendered and then 1 month later I find out the services weren't covered because my son was too young for the periodontal work they did on him. When I asked the office to explain I received nothing but ignorant answers from a group of incompetent people, Amber specifically. Don't assume. Call the insurance company yourself and educate yourself before you let these idiots run a fast one on you. read more

Horrible experience. I would not recommend to anyone. The girl at the front desk is completely incompetent. She failed to file insurance claim then asked for over two thousand dollars before the work was even completed. After asking to file with insurance, sent in the wrong teeth info. She sent it in again and suddenly the same procedure costs $1200 more???? After three months of going back in constantly, finally have a bridge but was blessed with dry socket, tmj and now have bone growth on my palette from all the trauma. Total nightmare! read more

absolutely awful! this was formerly sears dental center & when it was, the lead older experienced dentist was terrific; now, young new dentist told me I needed extraction & crown; expensive even with insurance, spent money, got the crown, in course of eating almonds, crown cracked & he berated "me" because I shouldn't have eaten almonds! I have multiple crowns & bridges in my mouth & have eaten almonds for years; he proceeded to pull it out & tell me: well, we'll just need to put in an "implant" now.....to the tune of another $3K!!! Brand new very clean. Pretty quick in/ out, no frills practice (I.e. No TV, etc.) Staff is friendly although a little impersonal. That's ok bc I'm not much for small talk anyway. The only thing that irked me a little was that their tech uses gloves that makes contact with your mouth, and then uses the computer, x ray and other equipment without removing them. A little gross when you know there are other people's mouth germs all around and makes me wonder if and how often they wipe down their workstations. I'm more picky about this than most because I work in the medical field. read more

I was in today 3/18 and wanted to see if anyone else had quite the experience like mine, now I'm left wondering if I needing all of the fillings I received!! My visit was good, just strange. I was taken back by a technician whom I assumed would've been with me the whole time, yet at the room there was another technician already in there. Maybe not so strange but I think the first tech was taken back by this. This younger tech stayed with myself and the doctor/dentist and I'll tell you, I felt like I was interrupting a moment!! I'm not sure how 2 people could sit so close with a whole body between them! Between the staring and the slight giggles, I'm hoping my dental work was properly completed! So, not necessarily a bad visit but very uncomfortable and awkward. read more

It's absolutely true what Monique B. wrote. This place will try to make as much money off of you as they can! Wouldn't clean my teeth because I needed a "deep clean" to the tune of $300-$400!! When I asked them to just clean them the normal way the "dentist" said it would be illegal! LMAO! They also advised I had cavities that needed taken care of.
