Dr. Wang and his staff are a complete joke. They engage in shady practices when it comes to insurance. I visited multiple times to have a chipped tooth fixed, and each time the work was poorly done the filling never holds and fails shortly after. Be warned: he always assures you that your insurance covers the procedure and that you won't need to pay out of pocket on the day of your appointment. However, a few days later, either he or his staff will call unexpectedly to say your insurance didn't cover it after all and that you now owe money. read more

Upon entering 4S Ranch Dentistry, I was immediately greeted by two friendly faces of the front desk gals Virginia and Lacey. They helped me with the patient paperwork ( 5 pages isn't so bad compared to other offices ). As soon as I turned my paperwork in, I was immediately called by the assistant ( I later learned her name Vanessa) for my appointment. I had virtually NO WAIT TIME which was awesome! I don't think I would have minded waiting a few minutes in the waiting room though, it was very clean and there were magazines on the counter as well as a TV mounted on the wall. I think this office is family friendly because there was a cute play room next to the receptionist desk. I know families that would benefit from being able to have their kids in the playroom while the adults have their teeth cleaned by miss Sydney. After having my x-rays taken, Sydney asked me what channel I like to watch. I LOVE the fact that there are TVs in the room so that I can enjoy a show while having my teeth cleaned. Sydney was so sweet, constantly asking me if I was okay and if anything was bothering me. After my teeth were cleaned, Dr. Wang came in and addressed my concerns and made a plan for me to come back and have things taken care of. He was so caring, asking me about my family and what plans I have for the future. He said that his wife works as the orthodontist next door and they have three kids. He told me I could discuss the treatment plan and finances with the girls up front. When I get to the front, Lacey goes over what I needed to take care of and when I could come back. Overall, I would recommend coming here because the staff are super friendly, the cleanings are gentle, and Dr. Wang prioritized my needs. Before seeing Dr. Wang, I used to see a dentist down the street from where I live. The convenience wasn't enough to stay, and I'm sure there's several other offices that are closer, but I'd rather go out of my way to see Dr. Wang and his staff. Aside from the regular check ups, I've had a deep cleaning and a molar removed. My biggest problem has been my gums, and since coming here, they have improved tremendously. I want to share my recent unpleasant experience with Dr. Wang at Dentistry at 4S Ranch so others can be alert. We feel the way they billed things is so dishonest. If you go there or plan to go there, make sure you get in writing the plan of action and how much they are charging (including whether it is a cash price or insurance price). Before we went there for teeth cleaning, my husband called them and asked about the price and how they handle insurance. The receptionist said they charge $199 upfront and we will need to get any reimbursement from the insurance company by ourselves (they didn't deal with BlueShield). We made our appointments and had our cleaning done. Everything was fine and Dr. Wang was really nice and polite. He told me that I had several cavities that needs to be filled. Also he would fill the gaps between some of my teeth and gums since it has been causing sensitivity. I went for the fillings last December. Dr. Wang gave me several numbing shots. He did one on my inside cheek and went pretty deep. The left side of my face was totally numbed. I felt a little bit dizzy and asked him if it was normal and he assured me that everything was okay. But that area hurt for over a week after the dental work. I also informed them I have TMJ and my mouth can't open too big for too long. They put the mouth pillow in to open my mouth. After about 40 minutes, my temporomandibular joint on the right side was so sore and I couldn't stand any more. I told him that it hurt so much. He insisted that the mouth pillow was necessary and offered to give me more anesthesia. I was very upset as I was lying there. I told him that even if I can't feel the pain with anesthesia, the damage it caused to my joint would still exist. At that point, I actually wondered if he understood what TMJ was. After a minute, he said he had to go on, so he put in the mouth pillow again. My joint hurt so much that I took out of the mouth pillow on my own. Anyway he managed to finish the rest of dental work. I never thought simple fillings would be so uncomfortable and painful. But what upset us the most was the billing. They still billed our insurance, deposited the reimbursement, and never told us. My husband found out and had to call them to get the insurance reimbursement. It didn't sound like they had any intention of returning it proactively. We were able to get back the reimbursement for cleaning. But when my husband asked for the insurance reimbursement for the fillings, Dr. Wang said they initially undercharged us for the procedure, and so the insurance EOB was correct. I had expected to pay $923 minus whatever insurance reimbursement I might get. Instead, Dr. Wang got $923 plus the $312.90 insurance reimbursement. I can't say whether the price is right, expensive, or cheap. But the process felt dishonest! read more

Have been coming here for the last 4.5 years and always have great service. Sydney is a great hygienist too. Love the water pik she uses for cleaning and essential oils on her hands. Of course no one likes going to the dentist. But I am glad that I started going to this one. Dr. Wang is professional, takes his time, explains what needs to be done and does a great job. I've been going here for the past few months and so far no complaints. I've bounced around dentist offices based on my place of residence and family referrals. I was a patient here a couple of years back and loved the convenient location and how new all the equipment was. I've seen 2 other dentists after Dr. Wang, and realized that I love getting my teeth cleaned at his office; this will be my forever Dentist! I see Romune (dental hygienist) and she is just as amazing and consistent with her cleaning as she was 2 years ago! She is sweet, thorough, and not afraid to tell me that I need to floss more. I recommend going here to have your teeth cleaned by her! In my experience, they always run on time and x-rays are taken next door at the Orthodontist (Dr. Wang's wife's office; they have a 360 degree machine so x-rays are fast and painless. Romune is sweet and thorough with the cleaning (I do not believe Dr. Wang does any cleanings), and then Dr. Wang comes in and goes over any concerns and my x-rays. Dr. Wang is friendly, and is genuinely interested in getting to know his patient (he always follows up with the last thing we talked about 6 months prior, that's kinda cool). All doctors need to make money, and Dr. Wang suggests some items based on my concerns (whitening or a mouth guard for my night grinding), he's never pushy and always cushions the pitch with, "We'll call your insurance to check if it's covered and you can decide then..." I like that he lets me know about new teeth technology, but never pushes me to buy anything. I highly recommend this office and here are my top 3 reasons: 1) Romune is the absolute best! 2) They always run on time. 3) New and clean equipment. I have been blessed with good teeth so I haven't spent a lot of time with Dr. Wang going over problems, so for me, a good dentist office means a legit cleaning and clean environment, his place delivers! read more

Update: My daughter saw her new dentist today - Dr. Robert Marcus in Poway. Within 10 minutes, he made her a veneer that looked a thousand times better than the triangular tooth made by Dr. Wang. This wasn't even the final product, it was something he quickly made as an example of what he would be doing...& it looked almost exactly like the tooth on the other side. And yes, it is a veneer. The only difference between this veneer and traditional veneers is that it's made out of a composite, rather than porcelain. She'll have it replaced with a porcelain veneer in a couple of years. Dr. Marcus is a family and cosmetic dentist. The title of Dr. Wang's practice states "Family, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry." The botched procedure that Dr. Marcus is correcting is something quality dentists know how to do. It's nothing special or out of the ordinary. read more

We found this at Dentistry at 4S Ranch. Lorena, at the front desk, is completely trained in insurance details and works with you along the journey with all questions answered timely and with knowledge. No surprises in that department. Sheila the dental hygienist is a gem! She is the first hygienist to give me the anesthetic and she was great! The deep cleaning which she performed over 2 sessions (at my request) was pain free. Dr. Wang fixed a crack in one of my front teeth and he was kind caring and the tooth looks great. Everyone treated both my husband and I with great respect, skill and professionalism. I will never come to this dentist's office. Dr. Wang makes me think he is a doctor who values money more than patients. My tooth has been too weak to bite since he fixed a tooth for me. He said it was my problem all the time. I asked him to refill my tooth and he insisted on root canal treatment. For dentists, root canal treatment certainly makes more money, but for patients it means losing a living tooth. In desperation, I found another dentist, who helped me refill my tooth and respected my idea very much. My daughter and I have been patients of Dr. Wang's for almost two years. I have been trying to get an appointment since the fall of 2015 (ortho too but never got a call back, and that is a WHOLE other story). Got an appointment for today 1/5/16 at 5pm. Due to the rain and that fact that I take public transportation (and cannot drive due to a recent injury - severe bilateral sprains in both feet and recently had cast and brace removed), we were running late. I called to let them know and I was promptly called back by Rachel to inform me that if we were not there in 10 minutes they would cancel my appointment. They close at 6pm, it was 5 minutes to 5pm at the time of the call and I was literally 5 minutes away. Due to the tone and the "fact of the matter" attitude, I thought it in our best interest to find another dentist. I work too long and too hard for my family as a single mother to have another medical provider be so disrespectful (I work in the healthcare industry and we wait for our patients regardless-isn't that novel?). Yes, I get it, they had to wait another 10 WHOLE minutes and it is raining and yes, it sucks to drive in the rain. Try standing outside in the rain with two bad ankles waiting for a bus? Tons of fun! I was not asking them to wait 30 minutes, it was 10 minutes. Correct me if I am wrong but waiting is part of the service included in our care, correct? My doctor has a 15 minute window. NOPE not at 4S Ranch Dentistry. I communicated as soon as I could, did all the right things and was treated very poorly. We will not be seeing this provider again and take heed, they will call constantly until you confirm your appointment, so if you have an actual job and have your cell phone with you, put it on silent the day before your appointment. I am severely disappointed and disheartened with the lack of understanding under the circumstances (weather out of our control).
