My 13-year-old daughter has been a patient since she was two years old and I cannot believe the way things have been handled with their office over the past two or three years. I'm not sure if there's been a change in management behind the scenes, but there has been a total breakdown in communication over the past few years. Several years ago I had an issue with a miscommunication on their end about an appointment that my daughter had. With her most recent appointment we had a change of insurance. Dogwood called me two days prior to confirm the appointment. At that time, I provided them with our new insurance information and was told that they would check to confirm that her specific plan was accepted and would let me know 24 hours beforehand if it was not. Well, lo and behold today, I get a phone call informing me that her insurance plan was in fact not covering her previous visit. When IWell, low and behold today, I get a phone call, informing me that her insurance plan was in fact not covering her previous visit. When I informed the person that I spoke with on the phone of the fact that I was told that this wouldn't happen because I would get a phone call from them. She had the nerve to tell me that that was just a courtesy. In hindsight, I should have called and confirmed with our insurance, but Dogwood should've held up their end of what was communicated to me. Apparently this is an ongoing issue for them after reading through these reviews. So past issues like mine were not learning situations for dog with. They continue to tell their patients that they will check their insurance so they don't receive hefty bills and then they continue to let their patients get hefty bills. If dogwood doesn't want to accept any responsibility for this, then they shouldn't be telling their patients that they will check their insurance and call them 24 hours prior. I am so disappointed in receiving that bill and that phone call. Dogwood will not see a single scent from us for this bill. I would've stayed with Dogwood for the rest of my daughter's childhood if it was not for this incident. I absolutely love the dentist and dental hygienist, but they have lost their minds with that front staff.

We then proceeded to wait just short of 2 hours to be seen. We were then quickly told that they in fact didn't perform the procedure they had said over the phone they did. End result we ended up with a bill and lost 2 hours of our life. While this may have been a misunderstanding it sure felt like a quick and easy way to bill us without any intent to treat. That may not be the case but either way waiting 2 hours to be seen is also extremely poor service.

Well, when I first called the office to make an appointment, Pam, the lady who answered the phone was so helpful. I had some issues that I need to be seen for, so she made sure to take down on my info and look up my insurance to tell me what would be covered and what would not be. Initially, she only had appointments over a month out, but you can ask them to be put on the cancellation wait list and they will call you. That's exactly what happened to me. I had booked the first available appointment that she had, but she called me a few hours later and had a cancellation the next day! The practice is in a lot with a few other buildings with various medical practices and businesses. Parking - They have a lot. Plenty of parking. Vibe - The practice is in a stand alone, 1 story building, almost like a little house, typical of the ones you see all over Richmond Hill. The reception window is to your left and there is quite a large waiting area. Very bright and clean. Service - I got my cleaning done with Donna. What a sweet lady. Soft spoken, but made me feel really comfortable. She did a great job with my teeth, nothing hurt so I guess that's always a win?! Dr. Dority came to inspect at the end, and he was very nice. Had a souther accent that I am still trying to get used to around these part! LOL. He listened to my concerns and gave me all the referrals that I needed. Savannah Periodontics is only dental office I'd recommend for anyone with dental anxiety…read more First, I should say that I had a very traumatic experience with an emergency dentist when I was on vacation on the West Coast and ever since then, I am a bundle of nerves when I have to have any sort of dental procedure. When I met Dr. Kube (pronounced Q-B) she assured me that she and her team would take every single measure to soothe my worries before the procedure. She kept her promise and did exactly that. I was given a pre procedure pill to take the "edge off" but the morning of my gum graft, I was so wound up, I didn't feel like it worked at all. When I got the procedure room, Dr. Kube reassured me that she would explain everything she was doing before she did it and she began to numb my mouth. Even though she was exceptionally gentle, calm and patient, I couldn't help feel panicked, (the experience I had with the dentist I visited on vacation had let me that shell shocked.) Dr. Kube went above and beyond and invited my husband to sit beside me during the gum graft so that he could help me calm down and communicate what was being said / done to me. ( I am hard of hearing and rely on lip reading to communicate and it is understandably stressful when masks obscure the mouths of those speaking.) Both Dr. Kube and her assistant Melisa were so gentle with every single part of the process. When I shed a few tears during the numbing process, they gently wiped them away ( which really shows that they care about the patient and not just getting the procedure over with.) When Melisa helped me out to our car, she noticed that I was cold and she put my hood up over my ears to keep me warm. ( It's the little things like this that really set this office apart.) While the first few days after the procedure were a bit rough pain wise, the pain medication I was prescribed was very effective and I was able to sleep and recover without issue. The after care instructions covered all the bases with regard to healing / managing pain. ( Trust me when I say to follow the icing directions- it really helps with swelling. ) A few days after the procedure, Dr. Kube personally texted me to make sure all was going well - which I thought was a really lovely personal touch. And the after care didn't stop there, any time I had a random question about the healing process ( e.g. How long does the bandage on the roof of my mouth stay on? Am I able to drink warm tea? etc.) the office staff Katherine, Megan (and a few other lovely gals that I was a bit too drugged up to remember the names of ) cheerfully and quickly gave me the info I was looking for. Long story short: As someone with severe dental anxiety, believe me when I say: Dr. Kube is an exceptional periodontist and she has my complete trust. Not only is she exceptionally skilled, but she is also so kind, gentle, reassuring and thorough in her care planning. A perfect 10/10. Not only do I whole heartedly recommend her, I will be going back to complete additional procedures with her, which for me, is the highest compliment I could possibly give.

The policy of refusing to reschedule future appointments if unable to pay the $50 penalty fee on the spot is appalling. As a insurance paying client, I should not be threatened with being turned away over reasonable scheduling issues. What compounds this matter is I bet this unfair policy is pushed disproportionately and impacts your minority, specifically Black, patient base. Having an all-white staff and then enforcing strict punitive fees with little compassion or latitude raises concerns about racial biases influencing your office practices. Dentistry should be a environment of care, not rigid and excessive financial penalties. I urge you to reevaluate these policies through a lens of equity, empathy and ethical business conduct. Pushing away clients over minor scheduling issues is unprofessional and potentially discriminatory. I hope you will make adjustments to improve your office's treatment of all patients going forward.

Then I was introduced to my new dentist, Dr.Patel. Dr. Patel took time to look everything over and further explain what she saw on the X-rays along with giving me a plan for my follow up appointments.
