*IF LOOKING FOR A NEW DENTIST, AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS* I never thought I'd leave a review about a dentist office, but here we are. I called to make my appointment on a Friday and informed them that I needed a teeth cleaning AND that I was pregnant. I arrived to my appointment Monday and was then told I needed I needed clearance from my OB for X-rays/cleaning. (Why wasn't I told that when I made my appt?) I called my OB and got a letter after about 40 minutes and was able to get taken back to start my treatment. They took me in for XRAYs and a dentist came in to review the images and my dental health with me. I was recommended a "deep clean with laser treatment" and told by the dentist she'd be back in a bit after someone came and reviewed my dental coverage with me before proceeding. Someone came in to review with me and said the deep clean is covered but the fluoride was an additional $50, due to my insurance coverage which is fine, but the laser treatment is $500, but they "could offer it at their set price of $350." Before I could even agree to my service, they said "let me know when we can book your cleaning for you." I had been in this office for 2 1/2 hours at this point (including the 40 minutes I had to wait for a clearance note because nobody informed me of it when I initially booked.) I asked the lady why I had to book a service for cleaning when that was the whole reason I came in. She explained the Dentist was already with another patient and wouldn't be available, then got her manager. The first thing the manager said to me is "you were booked for a comprehensive exam, and we only provide a cleaning if time allows but it took you an hour to get clearance from your Doctor." I mentioned that (1) nobody ever mentioned the clearance to me & (2) if they didn't think they could offer me a cleaning bc of the timing, (WHICH IS THE WHOLE REASON SOMEONE GOES TO THE DENTIST), I should've been told up front instead of spending 2 1/2 hours there. Her response was trying to put off the responsibility to the call center who were the one's that answered my call. Finally after some time, she mentioned they could do a "basic cleaning" with me because they don't have time for the "deep clean because they to numb the mouth." NOBODY EVER EVEN MENTIONED NUMBING ME FOR A CLEAN IN THE FIRST PLACE? Finally the dentist returned with the dental assistant and provided a cleaning which was just fine. I finished the cleaning and left after being there for 3 hours! Ultimately, this is a straight up corporate dental office that is pushing services onto patients. I chose this place because it's much closer than my older dentist, but truthfully I'd drive the 3 hours I spent in the office to go to another office just to avoid this place. While Nayelie in the front office was kind, and the dentist/dental assistant were friendly, I truly feel this was a terrible overall experience with lack of information caring for patient's time, withholding information about services when offered, and a company trying to take advantage of their patients. I normally don't give poor reviews, but my wife had a terrible experience at Dentists of Glendale that needs to be shared. Our dentist, whom I shall not name, placed a crown for my spouse in April 2023, only to have it break a little over a year later. Worse, she suffered from persistent pain when chewing on the site of the crown for almost a year. I had several fillings by this same dentist over the years, with several requiring revision years later. My spouse called to ask for reimbursement or for the dentist to revise this crown, only to find that they had left the practice, and that she would need to be seen by someone new with the full costs of replacing the crown. The high turnover of Dentists of Glendale should be a red flag. If that's not enough, look at the poor reviews. Dear Yelpers, look for dental care elsewhere. read more

I called Dentist of Glendale to make an appointment and immediately remembered why I never went back after my first visit in 2023. When I first went there, they were really pushy about unnecessary and expensive procedures. For example, I just needed to replace a crown and asked for the same type I already had, but they refused to do that. Instead, they tried to push me into getting a more expensive crown I didn't need. It felt like they were always finding ways to upsell me instead of listening to what I actually wanted. They also make you take x-rays before they'll even tell you what kind of cleaning you can get, and from what I experienced -- and what others said at the time -- everyone somehow ended up being told they had gum or periodontal disease. I didn't feel comfortable, so I decided not to have my cleaning done there. I went to another dentist afterward who was honest, professional, and made me feel comfortable. They confirmed I needed to replace my crown but didn't try to sell me unnecessary treatments. Two years later, my regular dentist wasn't available, so I decided to give Dentist of Glendale another try. I called and spoke to someone named Nayeli (or Nareli). At first, she said she could schedule me for the day I wanted, but when I asked if I could just come in for a cleaning, her attitude completely changed. She snapped and said, "Well, patients don't get to dictate what kind of cleaning they get." The way she said it was rude, condescending, and totally uncalled for. I immediately told her, "Never mind, I'll just go somewhere else." I didn't even want to continue the conversation after that because of how she spoke to me. That phone call was enough to remind me why I stopped going there in the first place. If that's how they speak to people on the phone, I can only imagine how dismissive they'd be in person. Charlatans and scammers! 1. They will insist you need all sorts of procedures that no other dentist has ever said you needed. I guarantee you'll go in for a cleaning and come out with, AT VERY LEAST, a "deep cleaning", but as likely a few new crowns, or some bone grafts, or some replaced fillings. 2. They will appear to make "a deal" with you, even lowering their price if you give them a good review on yelp. In fact, they are probably OVER CHARGING. 3. They will miraculously have time "that day" to do the crowns or the bone grafts - the crowns or bone grafts you probably don't even need. You'll think you're lucky that they have the time; they'll know they're lucky you won't get a second opinion. 4. They'll do grossly inferior work. 5. You'll end up spending thousands of dollars repairing the hack job they did. The two crowns they put on my teeth ached for ten months and had to be replaced within a year after two independent dentists and one hygienist confirmed that they hadn't been sealed properly. (Improperly sealed crowns can result in food and bacteria getting in under the crown which can lead to total tooth decay and loss of the tooth.) The gum disease Dr. Herbert insisted I had was disputed by two other dentists who examined my mouth. My gums were fine and I certainly didn't need the two bone grafts (bone grafts that also could have been done "that day") that the periodontist at Dentists of Glendale told me I needed. (Thank God by then I was suspicious of their "same day scam" and didn't agree to that procedure.) I filed a complaint with Kaiser/Delta Dental and received $1000.00 refund (half of what I paid for their two crowns) because it was determined Dentists of Glendale over charged me. As far as I'm concerned they still owe me a $1000. AT LEAST. Coz if you add up the $1000 they still have of mine for their bad crowns plus the $3000 I had to pay for proper new ones, I have laid out $4,000 for crowns I possibly didn't need in the first place. This was the only dentist office that tested my blood pressure. It was high. A dentist said, "If I were your doctor, I wouldn't let you leave here without medication." And they were right. So I saw a doctor and am now on medication to treat it. Meanwhile, years later (neglect) I went to another dentist and had a horrible experience. Not all dentists are created equal. Dentists of Glendale are professional, experienced, and have state-of-the-art equipment. They performed root planing and scaling of my teeth, and my experience was great. I was expecting a lot of pain from the procedure, and experienced almost none. Later, I needed oral surgery to remove a tooth that was going to injure my jaw. Again, the procedure was painless, and the healing noneventful. Professional. Low/no pain. Accepted my Blue Shield insurance. Friendly, and with modern equipment. I was really nervous, but it was honestly the best dental experience I've ever had. Dr Guise did the procedure and it was quick & easy. I wish everyone knew that a root canal could be like that. I've been on an 18 month long journey with an implant and now a root canal / crown and yes, it has cost me a decent chunk of money (dental insurance is weird & confusing) but the quality of the work is excellent and the team worked with me on the financial side to make sure I was able to get the care I needed but pay for it in a way that worked for me. I recently visited this dental office and had an absolutely awful experience with their billing office. I was given a hard time when trying to pay off my dental work with cash and later with a credit card. I have had a lot of different experiences with a lot of different dentists. Overall, they have tended towards the negative. That being said, I was not looking forward to this visiting a new dental office, but I needed a tooth extraction badly and was in a lot of pain. The this particular dental office is pretty easy to locate and there's ample parking. The office itself is clean and high-tech. But it's the staff that makes this place stand out. The women at reception are candid but kind. They have really advocated for me getting appointments when I need them and have been flexible when I've come late or needed to be seen in an emergency. My own dentist is not overly talkative, but he is comforting in his directness and in being a thoughtful and attentive listener. This is really important to me because I'm afraid that I'm going to have to be visiting this dental office very frequently in the next year . My teeth are in really bad shape from a combination of bad genetics and poor self-care. I do not feel judged here. I feel taken care of and fairly confident that this dental office will help me navigate through all the dental bullshit. I have ahead of me. So far I really like this place and would recommend it to anyone I care about. Also shout out to Joy, she's a sweetheart. Dr. Herbert is a good dentist. She explains things very clearly and takes great care to make sure you are comfortable. The main issue at this office is the long wait times. I'm not writing a bad review because of one experience, I have come to this dentist's office for multiple years. Over the last few years I've had several checkups, old cavities fixed, new crowns, and even a root canal. While the procedures have gone well, the majority of my visits do not start on time. I usually have to wait 15-30 minutes. The office is always overbooked and Dr. Herbert is usually rotating between several patients at a time. My last routine checkup and cleaning only took 20 minutes, but I spent 1.5 hours in the office and never saw my actual dentist. Expect adequate care but incredibly long wait times. read more

However after I got that tooth removed and got a temporary tooth for 300, then after they told me, oh hey did they let you know about getting another tooth removed due to it not being in good condition. Waiting way too long until I had to go to front and ask if someone is going to clean my teeth. Finally someone came in. New guy, never said his name. Gave me less than a 15 minute cleaning. The dentist and oral surgeon I worked with were really the greatest I could ask for. They work well with anxiety, and did a great job on my complex dental issues. Everything here is gleaming clean and state of the art. I always felt like I was getting space-age care! That said, I was often pressure to get a lot of work done in one visit and pay a LOT up front. Upon checking in with my insurance after 4 visits, I learned I had been overcharged over $2000. And my insurance company, of all people, were the ones who let me know that they WANTED to pay that. The office refunded me the full amount I shouldn't have paid, but it took several weeks of my insurance agent pressuring them and doing the math with them over the phone. The office manager would sit me down every visit and explain why "this was my calculated responsibility" and since this was my balance "would I like to pay it now?" It was a fancy way of saying "we know you only owe a small copay and your insurance will pay more, but if you pay use this much up front, we take home tons of extra money." Real used car salesman level tactics. You'd think that, given the fancy graphics on the spreadsheet they showed me, they'd be more invested in not doing business like this. Given that I've had cancer twice and dealt with bad payment practices, this wasn't my first rodeo. Take my advice: if you must go here, and you have insurance they take, ONLY pay your copay. Though I appreciated the thoroughness of the exam and X-rays, I felt pushed to get all of my dental work done the same day when all I wanted was a standard cleaning. If I hadn't read the Yelp reviews before visiting, I would have been left with a hefty dental bill. I had to repeatedly express that I only want a cleaning and nothing extra. I don't like how the doctor was speaking fast and in dental terminology that I could see would easily confuse someone who just doesn't know better. My appointment was at 4 -- I arrived at 3:45 and left at 6. Not only was the time not efficient but I left feeling unsafe in my experience. after four years, i'm done! i found this place since they accepted my insurance, and it was close to home. my first mistake was coming in when i had an issue. of course, they told me insurance did not cover it all, and i had to pay out of pocket. when i scoffed at the upcharge, they handed me an application for a credit card. insulting! after that, of course they convinced me to upgrade an old filling with an implant...not covered by insurance. they even touted that they had a lab on site and made it in house... but when i returned for the placement, of course, it wasn't ready and i had to come back another time. then within a week, even though it was guaranteed, it broke and they had to remake it and replace it. stringing me along! then, when i returned for usual cleanings, they repeatedly told me i had mid stage gum disease and needed the deep cleanings, again, not covered, and would cost me extra. i skipped a year of cleanings, but when i came back early this year, all i wanted was a standard cleaning. usually its a hygienist that does it, but instead they forced me to see another dentist, not my regular one, and then after starting me late, despite being on time, made me undergo full mouth x rays just to charge my insurance. remember, i had already been a patient for 4 years! they never let me leave without pulling up a calendar and forcing me to schedule another expensive procedure, insisting the only one who does it is there once a month. bs!! i kept telling them i will call them instead. this dentist proceeded to take measurements (just like the hygeinist would) and use the same scare tactics, telling me i'd lose my teeth if i didn't take care of this periodontal disease. was that really necessary for a dentist to do when a hygienist did the same thing? i don't think so. all i wanted was a basic cleaning!! they wouldn't do a basic cleaning on site unless i upgraded to the next level that would cost me extra. nope! this was a waste of my time! they were so blatantly money hungry, this was the last straw. i quickly chose a new dentist in the area who, despite skipping a year of cleanings, told me that 1. my gums were in really good shape, and 2. so were my old bridges. hmph!! and...the reception staff were really dismissive. they changed the parking validation system to some qr code system, and when i asked for help, they condescendingly asked if i figured it out myself. it took a minute but it forced me to input payment info even though parking was covered. then i started to get those fake toll road scam texts shortly after that. gee thanks! save yourself time and money and look elsewhere! read more

I love my dentist Dr Herbert! I had a bad filling by another dentist that I had been going to for over 10 years. I was not able to chew anything hard on that side. Even after 4 months!! I came here on a referral from my fiancée to get a second opinion. She said the cavity was very deep and the filling didn't fill it. Sat in her chair for 2 hrs to get an onlay and voila!!!!! 24 hours later the pain was gone. My wife and I both recently went to Dentists of Glendale and had similar experiences. In both cases this office delivered or recommended expensive treatments that were not needed. We have both had continuous dental care for decades and had to change dentists because our dentist retired. When I first went to Dentists of Glendale they started by doing an excessive number of x-rays (charged to my insurance, but over $1000), then insisted that I had serious dental problems that would require expensive treatment. I have been to a dentist several times a year for cleaning and had NO prior recommendation for such treatments. My wife was told after her first visit (also after the most extensive and expensive array of x-rays she has ever had in her life) that she had 3 cavities and needed a crown. She was shown brown stains on her teeth and was told that these were cavities. She decided to just have her teeth cleaned and to think about it. She has only had two cavities her entire life, so this didn't make sense. It would have cost us over $1000 worth of out of pocket expenses and cost our insurance company thousands more. She asked for a copy of the x-rays and took them to another dentist for a second opinion. The second dentist was surprised that fillings and crown had been recommended. The brown stains shown to my wife as proof of decay were actually tea stains that had been *completely removed* by the cleaning that Dentists of Glendale had done. There was NO visible staining or evidence of decay after the cleaning. The second doctor's review of the x-rays taken by Dentists of Glendale did NOT, in their opinion, show any evidence of a problem calling for fillings or a crown. Last, I just received an email from Dentists of Glendale. The headline was: "FYI: Your remaining dental benefits may expire at the end of the year. Use them before it's too late. Book Now." In other words, "Even though you probably don't need anything, come in and get treatment so we can charge your insurance company". If you go to Dentists of Glendale, get a second opinion before getting any work done beyond a cleaning. read more

Horrible dentist office. The front desk staff are very nice and helpful but the rest of the office is very unprofessional and disorganized. Very long waiting time, up to an hour for a basic cleaning. This happened to all of our family members scheduled on different days, so it wasn't just a one time event. My daughter got the wrong diagnose, she was told she had a crack and that she needed an Onlay for $825. Not true, we got a second opinion and there is no crack. This office is so nice and they accept lots of different insurance and when I couldnt cover the costs, they bent over backwards trying to help me with discounts and suggesting Care Card etc. Office staff gets 5 stars. Unfortunately, that's not why you go to the dentist. I made an appointment a couple days in advance letting them know "I'm a big baby when it comes to dental work, way overdue, in pain - please provide nitrous, and can we try to get most in one go?" They get me in 9am 2 days later, perform X-rays, then let me know unfortunately doctor left for lunch and to come back at 3. For someone who is genuinely phobic of the dentist, that wasn't the best start. Then, I come back at 3, and they don't start until 4:30 (they close at 4). I wish they would've called me to reschedule, because waiting around waiting for "dr pain" when you're already nervous is not the best strat. Then comes the dental work. They are weird w nitrous, didnt give me enough (which I let them know), and didn't apply novacaine correctly, leaving my tooth fully sensitive to the work they were doing. I let her know (DDS) multiple times and she said "hang in there, let me finish what I'm doing for 10 seconds, then I'll re-treat the nerve directly to help ease pain" That was the worst pain I've experienced in my entire life (I was screaming/crying) and I've had 2-3 root canals, plenty of cavaties, and both my wisdom teeth pulled. They get 1 star due to ignoring customers requests, being unprofessional when they're the late ones, and a dr who forgot to prescribe my amoxicillin before I left (after saying it was essential and potential cause of additional pain) i called three times after leaving, no answer. I had to drive back, bang on the door, and THEN they finally opened door and asked what my pharmacy was. Overall, im sad i have to go back, and hopefully with this review, they will think twice before treating someone this way again. (PS I was overly nice the whole time because of how nervous I was / that's just who I am... I was NOT a rude demanding customer) I could write more... but I think this covers most of it. read more
