I had a very disappointing and uncomfortable experience at this dental office. I came in for a consultation regarding Invisalign and/or retainers, but from the moment I walked in, I felt unwelcome. The staff's behavior was extremely rude -- when I entered, they immediately started laughing, which made me feel uncomfortable and embarrassed. During my appointment, the doctor examined my teeth and took an X-ray. She asked what I was there for, and I explained that I wanted a consultation for Invisalign. She provided information about the process and explained what was going on with my teeth. At the end, she asked if there was anything else I needed, and I said no, that I was only there for the consultation. The doctor then became visibly upset and rudely told me that I had "wasted her time" before storming out of the room. I was shocked by how unprofessional and disrespectful the interaction was. A consultation is exactly what I scheduled, and I expected to be treated with basic kindness and respect. Overall, this was a very uncomfortable experience. The staff and doctor need to improve their professionalism, communication, and manners when dealing with patients. I would not recommend this office based on how I was treated. By far the worst dentist I have ever been to. I came here 6 months ago and was told I needed a deep cleaning and cavity fill. She also tried to sell me on some filling procedure I did not need. Now i came back for my 6 month cleaning. As soon as I told her I did not want the extra procedure just regular cleaning, they did not care about me. My appointment was at 2pm. I was out the door by 2:08 that is how little they spent on me. She did not check my teeth, no floss, no plaque scraping, just 5 minutes of "polishing." Do not come here! I called to ask if they were accepting new patients. Made an appointment and was asked to fill out forms online. Arrived to my appointment and was told they didn't have my forms. I said I submitted them. Receptionist said no, we don't have them. I'm pretty sure I submitted everything. No, we don't have them. I said I submitted on Sunday. Oh wait, yes they are here. Wait about 15 minutes to be told that I am not assigned to their office. Receptionist says I need to call HMO to be assigned. I asked why she didn't mention that when I made the appointment. She said she did. I said no, I would've called them. She proceeded to argue with me about how she was sure she told me to call and how she remembers talking to me. She talks to many people in one day and I only talked to her but yet she remembers specifically talking to me? She kept trying to argue with me how she did tell me to call HMO and I finally just said thank you and walked out. Will not be calling my HMO to be assigned there. read more

The dentist is nice, straight and to the point but the reason for the bad review is the other staff. The dental hygienist I had was extremely rude and aggressive. She was barking orders at me while taking my x-rays and barely cleaned my teeth. I kept telling her she was hurting me and she ignored me. The receptionist was also not pleasant communicative, or professional. Instead of urgent care / the emergency room for pain management, I brought someone here for proactive dental care. Dr. M waited for us after her normal hours. She really cares about helping individuals in (fainting degree of) pain. She addressed the situation exceptionally. They take all types of insurance, so just call and ask! Also in our situation, she was very fair as to emergency-out-of-network prices. Dr. M recommended options honestly, respectfully and was more worried about helping us through the situation, than just rushing home. This small glimpse into her practice should reassure you that exceptional care and concern still exists in the dental industry. We are definitely switching to her from our other HMO. Dr. Silva is just simply amazing. I know a lot of people say that about their favorite go-to dentist, but seriously, this woman is so sweet and hands-on (literally and figuratively) when it comes to your teeth. She maintains a close connection with you on both a professional and personal level. She routinely calls to see how you're doing, and sometimes even answers the office calls herself. I don't think she ever takes a well-deserved break. She's willing to see you without an appointment if you have an urgent dental emergency. There's just something almost maternal when you're in her hands. Not to mention, she's honest, doesn't beat around the bush, and her prices are completely fair. What I adore most about it all, is she is so realistic about your pain and the management you will need if a major work is done. I've had so many prior dentists extract teeth and send me home with mere antibiotics and a recommendation for over-the-counter Advil. She's even readily available for any hiccups during your aftercare, and gives you home remedy suggestions that always seem to work in my experience. Give her a call, you won't regret it. read more

This review comes from someone who spent 6 years as a Dental Tech, in the US Navy. That leaves me a bit more understanding of some things, and a bit more judgemental, on others. So: I give Dr Silva the thumbs up. I had an older composite filling, that fractured. The fracture extended to the pulp chamber... so... root canal, with a crown to follow. Treatment plan was spot on. Infection control protocols were followed. (This is something I am a stickler, for. I've walked out of a dentist's office for lack of barrier devices) One "tell" of a good dentist, is how they administer injections. The pain you feel is from the pressure of the fluid, against the nerve(s). Those who just want to get you out the door, will slam it in. Dr. Sylva Mkrtchyan gave me a root canal for an alleged cracked filling that was sensitive. It's been one month & 5 visits to her and my mouth is still in pain & messed up. The most egregious part is that I called her office in pain on a Sunday (she has no emergency #/or instructions in case of emergency), so I had to go to Urgent Care. She didn't return my call until Tuesday afternoon (after leaving another message on Monday). Another dentist is now fixing the mess she left me in, and I caution anyone seeing Dr. Sylva Mkrtchyan. My bite was off, my gums infected and I believe there was unnecessary work done to my teeth that caused undue trauma to my mouth & jaw. read more

I came for my free annual checkup and cleaning because my new Delta care assurance sent me there. First of all, I was surprised that the woman at the front desk didn't have a mask on, there was no glass protection and she was not very welcoming. After the x-ray, the dentist Dr silva Mkrtchyan came and told me that I had 4 cavities. I was very surprised because every single dentist I have ever seen told me that I was lucky because I had never had a single cavity even as a teenager. My last dentist used to joke saying if all of his clients were like me, he should close his office! When I told Ms Silva that I was very surprised she told me that there was no rush for the cavity so I was confused. I asked how my insurance would cover the expenses and I accepted to pay 155 dollars for 2 cavities because I had no idea how much it would cost having never had one. She treated 2 "cavities" and did a half "deep cleaning" and asked me to come for the end of the cleaning the next week. I was very surprised to have to come back for the other part of the cleaning. But as I was in pain after her "work" on my supposed cavities, I took another appointment for this week. I spent 3 days recovering and taking medicine because my teeth were hurting a lot after her intervention. I hesitated but I came back this week for the end of the "deep cleaning" on the left side of my mouth as she said. She started to inject me and left me without a word. So I asked the assistant why I had to get injections for a cleaning. She said it was for the "bandage". Dr silva Mkrtchyan came back and told me that she had to make 2 bandages. She spent an hour and 15 minutes doing the 2 bandages, sighing as if the work was very annoying. It was super painful and when she finished she left without a word. I couldn't even talk and my mouth was totally deformed by the 4 or 5 bites of a very strong injection. She also asked one of her assistants to take a picture of my mouth without asking for my permission. I couldn't talk and was very surprised because it was the first time a dentist had done that to me. I tried to ask the assistant why my mouth was like that and if it was normal. She was the only one to be kind and told me to eat ice cream or put ice on it. When I came back to the front desk, the assistant, still without a mask, asked me to pay 435 dollars! I could barely talk but I tried to ask why I had to pay 435 dollars for the end of a free cleaning. She said it was for the bandage. And when I asked if my assurance would take it, she said no because it was for "esthetic reason"!!! I had no idea what she was talking about because I never asked for that. When I came back home my husband was horrified so he called the dentist back. After 1 hour, Dr silva Mkrtchyan called back and told my husband it was because I didn't understand what she said. I am French so I am not totally fluent but I perfectly understood living in LA for almost 10 years and my husband is American. He said to Dr silva Mkrtchyan that it was unacceptable what she did and she accepted to reimburse me 180 dollars out of 435! She was essentially admitting that she over charged me!!!! So in conclusion, I came for a free cleaning and checkup and I spent almost 600 dollars for something I never asked for. The worst of it all is that I am suffering because of my teeth 5 days later, and I am still taking ibuprofen because it is still hurting me even during the night. I never had such a bad experience in my life. I really want everyone to know that you can't do that to people without consequence. read more

My first appointment at Bright & White Dental, I was helped by the receptionist and then ushered into the dental office a few minutes later. The facility was clean inside, but pretty small. My initial experience with Dr. Silva was pretty negative and uncomfortable. I don't think the woman smiled once, seemed very annoyed and upset that she couldn't take xrays on this visit (I had literally found out I was pregnant THAT morning, so I wasn't able to get xrays - or cancel the appointment, because they charge you if you cancel in less than 24 hrs), and implied that this was all somehow my fault. No congratulations, and no effort to be understanding of the situation. Even after that consultation, I thought I might as well stay and get my teeth cleaned. After manually inspecting my teeth, she continued to be incredibly rude and unprofessional. I felt like I was being judged personally for past dental work that she deemed slipshod and cheap, and she was extremely condescending when asking me questions about my dental history. She left, and I waited for about a half an hour for the actual cleaning to occur, during which the receptionist was sent in to try to charge me money out of pocket for a cleaning. I had to specifically inquire about the cleaning that is covered by my insurance (which is exactly like every dental cleaning I've gotten in the past at other facilities). Then the actual cleaning was the most painful I've ever experienced, to the point where I was physically flinching. I'm not sure if Dr. Silva is just not very gentle or if it was deliberate, since she was so annoyed with my entire situation. In short, I went home and immediately switched to a different dentist. If you want someone who generally cares about your well being and is professional, courteous and upfront about costs, this is not the place for you. And it certainly makes me wonder about the authenticity of all these 5 star reviews. read more

I was assigned this practice by my insurance and after reading the reviews - in particular the extremely negative one - I was a little nervous. I scheduled my appointment online, showed up at 9am and was greeted with a clean, simple waiting room and a perfectly friendly administrative assistant and the dentist herself. Going to the dentist isn't a spa, so obviously the actual cleaning wasn't super enjoyable but the doctor was quick and thorough. She was friendly and nice, as was the assistant hygienist. They both were professional but also we had nice little chats in between different stages of my cleaning. Everything in the room was clean and thorough and I was in and out of there in no time. I will definitely be going back because I feel that if something ever is wrong with my teeth, this doctor will make sure I receive the help I need. No frills needed. read more

I just want to start by saying I am absolutely terrified of dentists and dental offices but when I couldn't sleep because my excruciating toothache I knew I had no choice but to pay a dentist a visit. As soon as I entered the Bright and White office, I automatically felt at ease. The receptionist was friendly and walked me to the room I would be treated in and shortly after walked in the tech. The office was very clean and organized. The tech sensed that I was nervous so she made small talk with me to make me feel comfortable which was really nice of her. I have to say that Dr. Silva's personality is one of a kind. She is sweet, honest and to the point. She tells you what needs to be done honestly and makes sure she takes care of you. She has a very upbeat attitude and jokes with you to take the pressure off. I am more than satisfied with the work she has done with me and she is a doctor I trust and would recommend family and friends to. My employer changed plans and, unfortunately, I selected this place as my new dental office. I'm 77 so I've had a lot of cleanings in my day. In all those years I have never had a dentist fail to scrape the tartar from my teeth. She simply told the hygienist to polish them. Afterwards, I questioned the hygienist who told me that the dentist said I was doing a good job cleaning my teeth. I went home and could clearly see the tartar in a mirror.
