I found Dr.Bernardo from a referral. And I'm glad that I did go to her. I've been going to see her for almost 4 years now. *Customer service: She and the assistant Ivette always take good care of me, very patient and friendly. They always accommodate and take me in, when I'm running late. They helped me find parking when the lot was full. They send me birthday card, it's really nice gesture that they are really thoughtful of their clients. When I come in, I'm always being greeted right away. *Cleanliness: Very clean office. The assistants always prepare new unopened tools for Dr. Bernardo to use. They have 1 bathroom in the back and it's very clean as well. *Dentist herself: Dr.Bernardo is skillful and personable. She's patient throughout the process. Always ask me how I'm doing. When she had to inject me novocaine , she asked me to wiggle my toes and it worked. I've been to so many dentists, and I always felt a lot of pain during the novocaine injection. But not with Dr.Bernardo. She got the magic touch!! They also always give me a courtesy reminder call, the day before my appointment. Ivette is usually the one who calls me and always leaves courtesy reminder voicemail when I couldn't pick up the phone. Ivette is very thorough and professional. She'll always provide you information on insurance and follow up on any questions you may have. I get a goodie package every visit, which contains: tooth brush, tooth paste, dental floss and mouth wash (travel size). * As another 2 cents comment: I went to an orthodontist and I did an xray. When the orthodontist reviewed xray, he commented that whoever did my cavities and bridge that I have, did a very good job. This was the most terrifying, unprofessional dental visit I have ever experienced in my life. I am still at a loss of words to the treatment I received from Maria Pilar Bernardo. She showed up 25 minutes late which wasn't a big deal, I had been seated and reclined in the dental chair. When she did finally arrive she did not say one word, not a hello, nothing and sat down and started working on my mouth. It seemed she was angry from something that perhaps happened on her lunch break perhaps? Within 8 minutes she started shouting at me (I was still reclined with my mouth open and her hands in it) telling me to "Go back to my previous dentist" and that "Her and I did not speak the same language". I speak English as my first language (for reference) and I HIGHLY recommend staying away from this totally insane lady. As I left the clinic she was still shouting at me down the hall. I just moved to LA and was super anxious about finding a new dentist. Plus, I haven't had a cleaning in like 5 years and I was so afraid of being scolded (because yes, I know, I should really take better care of my teeth). In my defense, I went to college and was always too broke to afford dental care (even under my dad's partial coverage plan). So now that I have a big girl job, I became determined to find a great local dentist and take better care of my health. What first brought me here was the pain my wisdom teeth were causing me. I was hoping to get some x-rays, a cleaning, and a referral to an oral surgeon who could extract my wisdom teeth. I called this office after reading Yelp reviews and Yvette was able to get me an appointment that very same day because my teeth were hurting so much. She was super professional, courteous, and nice. My x-rays went by like a breeze, then Dr. Bernando then came in the examine my teeth and x-rays. She's actually really funny and personable, which I like. I felt like she treated me like a real person, which was very comforting because I was pretty nervous about visiting the dentist in the first place. She didn't scold me but was firm about telling me to take care of my teeth. I definitely need a lot of fillings and she broke the news to me ever-so-gently. Well -- time to start fixing those teeth of mine! Dr. Bernando broke everything down for me -- such as how much things were gonna cost, what I needed done, what my insurance covered, ways to save money, etc. It felt like I wasn't being tricked into any unnecessary procedures. These were things I needed and she wanted only the best for me. At the end of my cleaning, I was expecting to pay for my copay, xrays, and cleaning, but I found out that Dr. Bernando waived the fee for me. Not only that, but I'm getting a steep discount on all the fillings I need for my next visit. She saved me well over $500. That is one of the most generous things anyone has ever done for me, let alone a dentist! I already scheduled my next appointment for the fillings and I'm looking forward to coming back in 6 months for my next cleaning. Dr. Bernardo's office has been the perfect fit for me. I might not floss as much as I say I do, got the cavities to show for it. Because of this I wasn't looking forward to the fillings and the bill. The staff at Dr. Bernardo's was awesome. They showed me exactly what was going on with my teeth in the X-rays. They also broke down the options and prices to fix them. I though my dental coverage was decent, but found out it doesn't cover much. Ivette and the staff were there to help me decide on the best course of action for my mouth and my wallet. they didn't finish my root canal and told me my only option was to see a specialist immediately without being considerate of my time and the fact that I could not speak for myself due to the numbing agent. The receptionist was very rude and spoke in an uneducated manner. I was unsatisfied overall and won't come back again. Having a business and providing a service should mean optimum customer service and care and I did not receive any of those.
