Last week I was in my first accident in 20 years of driving. I was turning right on Victoria and I BLASTED the back of this Kia Optima. Blew the bumper right off that bad boy. Luckily, my 2012 Hyundai Tucson is sturdy and built for rugged conditions. I had heard they were originally designed as a war vehicle, and this time the Toucan only took a dent to the fender and a blown out tire. Several years ago I'd also made the mistake of dropping down to some pretty basic insurance. Farmers was gonna put that Kia's bumper back in tip top shape, but they told me to go kick rocks. The agent said I would be stuck driving around a dented in Hyundai Tucson and would most likely be laughed at my family and friends. Then she tried to sell me up on insurance for full coverage going forward!! Not gonna do it!! Anyways, this is where The Dentman comes in. I give him a call on Sunday morning to see what he can do. He picks up. Who picks up on a Sunday morning?? I wouldn't!! But that's why he's The Dentman and I'm not. He says to send over pics and what city I'm in. I do it. He calls back and says "listen bro, what are you expecting?" I say, "I can't spend thousands like the collision repair shops want. I just need it to look decent". He goes, "I just gotta be real with you, it's not going to be perfect, but I'll do my best". He really set the bar low for my expectations and made it clear he wasn't a "miracle worker". His bid was also 90% less than the cost of the body shop estimates. I drop the car off that afternoon at his home and he says he's gonna "set up a canopy" and start hammering the dents out in the rain. I'm not very hopeful, but I see this man is incredibly dedicated. Of course he is. He's The Dentman. Three hours later I get a call to come pick up. I drive back into The Nard and arrive at The Dentman's shop (driveway). There she is... restored to near perfection. And even The Dentman is impressed with his work. He says, "it turned out great", and I can see he's beaming with pride. And he should be. Mauricio and his son came out to my house at least half an hour out from where they are based out of on a rainy day and got rid of the dent above my rear wheel well which in my area is a three to four THOUSAND dollar job based on quotes from 3 shops. The last shop I went to is the one who recommended I contact Mauricio. He made the dent 90% better (a tough job based on the severity and location of the dent which usually requires the car to be mounted and panels to be removed/repainted) and was able to remove all the surface scuffing from the wall I brushed up against.
