Tried to find a treasure but none to be found. Really high prices on broken and dirty items. Most started at $14.99 which is higher that original price on some of the items. Most disappointing aspect of trying to shop here is the staff. There was 3 staff members hanging out and blocking the aisle, when asked a question about a price was not helped. read more

This store is always jam packed with items, sometimes to the point of being just completely overwhelming or looking way too messy to even consider looking through. I do love the round that has the more name brand items and they are priced well. Seems like they are trying harder with their shoes selection too. I wish the back wall was better organized, there are a lot of broken or over worn items back there. When visiting this denton location be weary of the staff! There is one specific Hispanic/Latino women who I've noticed these pasts times I've been shopping here who is incredibly rude! A I have never had a personal interaction but have stood up for many older folks to help defend them. For example, she was speaking incredibly rude and I butted in and said ma'am I understand your frustration but you don't have to speak this way! I immediately found a picture that I wanted to hang in my bedroom in my new house. There was no price on it, when I went to check out the lady said it was $39.95. I think this is a ridiculous price for a thrift store. There were some other items that I looked at that were way overpriced. I'm very disappointed in this store, the reason being is that on Identical items that were marked at the exact same price and then marked down at two different prices and they didn't honor the lower price. If I ever shop here again I'll go on Mondays when everything is ¹/² off. Watch out for what they charge you at the register. My adult daughter,teen daughter and my self went in this store today for the first time. We thrift a lot so we get the rules. I checked out cashier seemed annoyed but I smiled and tried to be nice. I went to the car and my daughters checked out behind me. My teen found a swimsuit bottom that said 2pc set. We looked for the top and couldn't find it. So she chose a top that matched. The cashier said she couldn't buy the bottoms because were a set, my daughter tried to explain she couldn't find the other piece. My daughter offer to pay the price for the set. The cashier just stayed again you can't buy it because it's part of a set(I get not breaking up a set but we couldn't find the top). She called a "manager" over. The cashier told the manager she needed to explain to my teen daughter that she could buy the bottoms because she said "she can't comprehend the concept". Cashier rolled her eyes. Cashier and manager converse in Spanish (my kids speak German so couldn't understand them). The "manager" came back with the top in seconds. Took the bottoms and began to walk away. Never offered for my daughter to purchase the set. So my adult daughter stepped up took the suit and purchased for her sister. My teen was quite upset and embarrassed. This is a pretty decent thrift store. I have been here a couple of times and walked away with a few shirts. It does have a dusty smell to it so definitely wash any clothes before wearing them. The couple times I have been here there was only one or two cashiers so the line can get a little long. Denton Thrift is my absolute favorite place to shop in town. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the lack of dressing rooms. I'm serious about getting cheap clothes, so I tend to wear a camisole and some shorts to try my findings on over top of them. There are mirrors to check out how you like the clothes! It's a little inconvenient, but the prices are too good to pass up! Almost my entire wardrobe is from this place - and I haven't spent more than $100 total. The stuff up at the front is all name brand and is the 'in' stuff right. Those items are always a little more. Doing a bit of digging on the racks beyond the first few at the front is where I find new jeans from top stores for $5 or a cute top for $2. I will admit that sometimes there are certainly clothes that are more worn out than others - here's the good news though: no one is forcing you to buy those clothes. To complain about worn out clothes at a thrift store is pretty absurd considering it's all second hand. I would recommend this place 100%, especially if you're comfortable with trying on your items over your clothes. read more

Since I was a freshman at TWU, I've always stopped by the Denton Thrift store. It has really improved in the last few years. Like any thrift store, Denton Thrift has an assortment of collected clothing, home accessories, and other items at a very reasonable price. They are much more organized and actually keep things in order. It still has that thrifty vibe but the employees are very friendly and helpful. I recommend coming here to shop if you're a college student looking for a few clothing items. You'll find a good selection because other college students are selling their clothes back to the store. I used to really love Denton Thrift. I've lived in Denton since 2001 so I've seen it go through a lot of phases. Recently we went in and I was mainly looking for baby clothing. The clothing was so disorganized. The boys and girls clothes were mixed together and the sizes were in no particular order. They had onesies marked up for 2 dollars and they did not look new. I'm sorry but I won't pay more than a dollar for a thrift store baby onesie unless it has the tag on still. A lot of the toys looked really gross or just like junk. Denton Thrift is big and cool. I wandered in on the way to Kroger and stayed longer than I expected because they have so many clothes that I would wear. It's about the size of a TJ Maxx and has rows and rows of clothes. The selection of toys was was large and they were in good condition. There was actually a Cabbage Patch doll there. She'd been rode hard and put up wet but there she was. All the housewares you'd expect, lamps yadda yadda. My son found a Christmas sno-globe nightlight kind of thing that lights up when you plug it in that was so neat, and I'm not big on knick knacky things. It's clearly a place that carefully screens and prices what it sells and definitely worth a stop-and-browse. read more

I had an open mind for this thrift shop, and I actually found a lot of nice clothes. But there is no dressing room so I couldn't try anything on. So I don't really understand why I would buy something, go home and try it on, and if it doesn't fit I couldn't return it. The prices were reasonable, but it would feel like throwing away money if the clothes didn't fit. Needless to say that after I realized there were no fitting rooms, I replaced my clothes where I found them and left the store empty handed. read more

Usually I love this place. Today we found a bag of ornaments but it had a slight tear in it. We take it up to the cashier who then proceeds to say she can't sell it to us because it's torn. All of the other bags were either full of junk/literal trash or everything in it was broken or bags were torn wide open. We say this and she calls a manager over who then checks merchandise on the shelf saying everything on there was ok and that next time we need to be more careful checking our merchandise when it's not my job to be checking your merchandise. This is the thrift store in town to go to for clothes. They have a very large selection of clothes. You can find almost anything that you are looking for (whether it be a new tshirt, nice winter coat or something for a dress up party). I have found some very nice items here before and I have found some very trashy, stained or ripped items here. Make sure to go over your items before purchasing because they have a no refund policy. Most of their prices are very cheap and reasonable and then you find others that are way too much (in my opinion). read more

I went with my daughter for the first time this week. At first I was impressed that it was clean and well organized. As we started looking through the clothing, I found that the clothes were not arranged by size, which made finding things hard. I have lost a lot of weight in the last few years and cannot 'eyeball' things to see if they will fit. But, they have no dressing room!!! I ended up buying ten or twelve things that were the size I generally wear. I got them home and only two things fit. I am very disappointed and will not go back for clothing, even though they have a nice choice of pretty decent stuff. (I normally don't buy things used.) The store is very big. They could add dressing rooms easily. They also put their price tags on with staples. I have been going to Denton Thrift for years. I have always found that thier prices are competetive, if not really really affordable. The selection has always been really good, too. But the last few times I have been in, I have noticed that the prices have been inching up to close to normal retail. After today's experience, I will not be returning. As we were checking out, My wife had asked about Halloween costumes because we had not seen them as we shopped. They had moved them from last years location.I went to find my wife and we went to look at the customes. An employee of the store, told me " You can't be in here with that bag". I replied " I haven't left the store yet" and she repeated " You can't be in here with that bag". We offered to show our reciept but she declined and told us a 3rd time to leave the store. I am ok with a policy on bags in the store and I am sure they have a lot of people who are not honest and probably steal. But I'm not ok with her rudeness and lack of explanation on the store policy. She could have offered to hold the bag at the front counter while we looked but she did not. I do not live in the Denton and it is not convienent to get there, so I will not be returning. Sorry Denton Thrift ! You have lost a returning customer.
