Have been a member for 35 years and love it. The only main problem now is that the Pub is turning into a giant daycare center. Kids are constantly in there tearing all over uncontrollably as their parents down cocktails to deal, or NOT deal or discipline them. It is dangerous and disrespectful to the servers to have to work in such chaos. It is inappropriate and probably illegal for small kids to even be allowed in there let alone have ZERO rules for the kids AND the parents to adhere to. It sucks for other patrons and is completely unfair. Turn the snack bar into a family eating area. Give us back our Pub!!! Thanks for listening. read more

I had been a member on and off for 9 years. My membership was involuntarily terminated after I lodged a complaint about multiple members sexually harassing me, including two board members groping me. In my recent experience, women are unsafe here. In my prior experiences, it was clear that less is offered to women than to men-down to the size of the towels and lockers. The overall club experience has severely degraded in recent years, with restaurants closing and not being replaced, signature events not occurring, hours of service being reduced. The coworking space is okay but I can't connect my corporate device to it because the network is too insecure-the password hasn't been changed in over a decade and is known not just all over Denver, but by a lot of random people who visit when they have public events, which have been allowed to takeover what used to be member spaces regularly. It seems like instead of being a club for members like it used to be, it's an extension of the convention center space which just happens to have a gym and a daycare and a pub. I've been a member at the Denver Athletic Club for just over 10 years, and it really is a "club for your whole life." My family and I have enjoyed many parts of it over the years. Fitness & Pool - I've done classes and yoga, and the pool is great for both workouts and family fun. Even though I'm not doing a lot for fitness right now, my membership is still worth it. The locker rooms have plenty of options. I rent one near the pool to stash all the kids' suits and gear. Food - I use the grab-and-go café a lot to supplement meals for me or a kid. We've been loving the family pasta nights. The separate table for kids and the communal setting for families make it easy to mingle. If I haven't planned a meal, we'll often stick around at the pub for dinner after daycare pickup, which saves the day. Workspaces - IMO the coworking space is one of the most beautiful areas of the club. I use the couches in the main area or tables in the 1884 Room, but if I need extra quiet, the library is perfect. Childcare - I've trusted the center with three of my children from infancy until school age. Don't sleep on the hourly opportunities, Parents' Night Out, and events with free childcare! As a woman, I appreciate the comfort, convenience, and welcoming environment. The staff are professional and kind, and the women's locker areas are always clean. It's one of the few places downtown where I feel totally at ease coming on my own or with my family. Parking & Extras - The parking garage is secure and economical, and I use it anytime I'm downtown, not just when I'm going to the club. There are tons of extras I haven't mentioned: hot tubs, saunas, cold plunge, free razors (!)...a bowling alley, golf simulator, and social activities. I know I'm missing other things. After a decade, I can honestly say the DAC has been a huge part of my life. It does have something for everyone, no matter your stage of life. read more

You can't even use the gym once before you sign up . I have been in the commercial gym industry for 20 years . I have never seen a high end club who asks these type of prices not allow someone to use the gym prior to signing up .. a tour is not adequate enough to provide me with the information I need to make this decision . The fiancé and I had the pleasure of attending our friends nuptials at Denver Athletic Club and I must say I was impressed! ++ The space was so elegant! The wedding was held on a patio and the reception took place under a covered space adjacent to the patio. ++ The food was fantastic! We split the steak and salmon meals. Both were amazing! Cooked to perfection! ++ The drinks were wonderful! I sipped on a variety of boozy beverages including a Corpse Reviver that was deliciously dangerous. ++The building is rich with history! You can just feel it throughout the space. ++ Various amenities are offered to members - including bowling lanes! ...only drawback was the lack of parking nearby. For members and guests they offer two hours of complimentary parking and there is a pay lot across the street. Denver Athletic Club was def a fabulous hidden gem! This place may not be the prettiest place but it's so rich in its history. By the way they are rehabbing it over the summer. Everyone is so incredibly sweet and attentive and they really try to get to know each guest, so even though I always am a "number" when I pay, I definitely don't feel like a number. There are so many social activities. It's not just a health club. There's a pub, a few restaurants, a bowling alley(?!), pool, massages, a great child care and daycare, and even a barbershop! I know I'm forgetting plenty and the price is very reasonable especially with the reciprocal clubs they have across the world. It will be such an amazing opportunity when we go back home to LA to go to the Jonathan Club for the price of the DAC. I can't say enough good stuff about this place. I'm willing to drive the longer drive just to feel like I'm in a second home, where I can not only get in shape, but then have an adult beverage to celebrate my exercise after a work out! read more

Wow! This is the best gym I have ever been to. I was a member of lifetime athletics in Maryland and I felt that was the best gym but when I visited DAC I was blown away by their amazing facility. First of all, DAC is huge. So getting around could be a little complex if your visiting for the first time. As I am a huge fan of basketball and swimming I was looking for these two facilities to start of with. When I entered the basketball court I was awestruck by how well maintained their court is. It's a full NBA size court and they have plenty of basketballs to choose from. They also have towels and water fountains in the facility. Just amazing! Next stop was the swimming pool. Nice heated pool with 8 lanes and jacuzzi, sauna and steam room next to it in the same facility makes it spectacular and extremely accessible. By this time I was already convinced that this was the best gym I have ever seen. I continued my tour by visiting squash and racquetball courts. There were plenty of players playing at very high level. They also have a viewing area from where you can watch these players play squash. It was fun. I also visited pool tables, shuffle board, bowling alley and workout area. Pool tables are very well maintained and they have some very good quality sticks. I got an opportunity to play with regular players and by the end our game they were impressed by my skills and invited me to play with them on a regular basis. I wish I could but unfortunately I am just visiting for a couple of more days. We then headed to the bowling alley. It was empty so we used a couple of lanes. We also grabbed some beer and snacks while bowling. Only negative is that it's hard to find 10lbs balls which is my favorite weight. Nevertheless I used a 11lbs ball and I still had an amazing time. They have couple of men's locker rooms. Men's locker is very well designed with lockers in the wide area and shower in the middle so that the shower is easily accessible to everyone in the locker. They also have steam and sauna in the men's locker. They have open showers with shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lots of towels right across the shower area. What amazed me the most about the men's locker is their additional supplies such as body cream, oils, shaving foam, blades etc. If you're a member here you don't have to carry anything other than your gym wear. I am truly amazed by their facility. It does not end here. To add to their amazing gym facility, they also have party space and a nice roof top where they host parties on a regular basis. They also have free beer Tuesday's between 5pm to 7pm. So with all such amazing facilities you must be wondering about their monthly membership fee. Let me tell you that it's not cheap. The base price is around $260 which is a bomb for lower to middle class families. You can buy lockers for an additional cost and parking is free only for first couple of hours. They have a cafeteria where you can order food and drinks. Here is a little tip for all the Yelpers, if you check in here using Yelp app on your phone they give you a free small smoothie. So definitely try it out. Well, I definitely think their facility is amazing. read more

I hope to re-write this review in a few months or so, but for today 3 stars is generous. This place is one of those institutions that has not had to keep up with the times, or compete for market share. The main aspect of this club is that it is a thriving Social Club for an older demographic of people who most have been members for 20-30-40+ years. I recently joined and must say that I joined with hopes that I would see this club remodel and come into modern times while I am there. So far it is more than adequate for getting in a great workout downtown and offers tons and tons for the average person or the avid athlete. The indoor pool is huge! There are 2 yoga studios. The gym offers full court basketball, many squash courts, as well as racquetball. They have a very nice crossfit studio in house. None of these activities cost extra money, which is a very nice plus! You wouldn't believe it, but there is a large bowling alley inside and its open to all of the members. That is pretty cool! There are tons of activities, social dinner parties, and a lot of great people to meet here at DAC. For now I am going to mention that there are several dining options including a full service restaurant, I just cant say anything too great about the food here... They say in life that you should never judge a book by its cover-- this is a tattered cover on the outside where the pages are filled with plenty of wisdom, and importance. But when it comes down to the high prices that DAC is charging it is shameful that they aren't allocating their fund on improving, modernizing, and refreshing the very old and worn out aspects of this unique place. If we are judging on pure potential, I would rate this club with 10 stars. Limitless potential here, and if you are looking for a special and very unique family friendly, safe, no stress club then this is it. It is my personal hope that as more like-minded, youthful, and tasteful members join this club will become amazing, great, exceptional, and more. It's hard to like and hate the DAC. Across the board you'll see everyone complains that the place being stuck in 1980. It's kind of what gives it a piece of charm and certainly a perk for the 60 and 70 year old oil guys who have been coming here since their prime. Who doesn't like green carpet and gold trim on everything?? And honestly, the plethora of after shaves and colognes offered in the men's locker rooms is nothing shy of endearing. With the membership rate as high as it is, they know what their doing obviously - keeping the old in and the young blood out. But I'm sure that'll all eventually change. We'll see. read more

While DAC probably saw its heyday back in 1980, this is still a great club and is reminiscent of days gone by. This is a fully integrated club with exercise facilities, a pool, a bowling alley, racquetball, badminton and squash courts, a pilates reformer studio, group classes, hot yoga- the list goes on and on! Plus, there are multiple dining options including the bistro, the dining room, a formal dining area, plus a bar, and lots of food and drink options back at the bowling alley. There are billiards, pool tables, And a card room (so 1980!) The rooftop patio is pretty exceptional for parties on summers' nights. Locker rooms have all the amenities- Steam Room, great showers, good products, razors, all the stuff you need! All that being said, it is a little old feeling and needs a face lift, but I am happy to be a member! read more

Joined this Athletic club about a month ago, and I must say it is as good as it gets! Air conditioned gym, exceptionally clean machines, spacious enough that you don't feel on top of people when working out. They offer several classes throughout the day. They promote wellness by offering a free wellness center to get measurements and go over your health. I also cannot get enough of the culture here. They are so welcoming to new members that you feel as if you belong to a family. They have several events a month for you to choose to be involved in. Mike, the manager is at almost every event and he always greets you with a warm smile. They have a variety of clubs that meet throughout the week that you will never be alone in this athletic club! read more

Let me tell you what a $266 monthly membership(they price according to age and we are in the highest bracket, less if you're under 35) gets you: - Free parking, but only for 90 minutes - Access to lots of classes; Yoga, Pilates, Cross-Fit, but many for an incremental cost in addition to the membership fee; ie Gymnastics for my kid is an extra $15/class - A great facility with additional talks and activities, ex wine tasting, but also extra much of the time - two kinds of shaving cream, but you have to pay for tampons(sorry guys, kind of a nit of mine) - club-grade lotions, shampoos, etc - child care for $3.50 an hour - Billiards Hall, pool, bar full restaurant All in all a good experience, a super large facility, but really adds up if you're not careful. read more

Unfortunately we had a terrible experience with the daycare at Denver Athletic Club. In July, 2017 we toured the daycare facility with Courtney LeDuc and decided to put our son's name on the waitlist. In order to do so, we initiated a social membership and were given a timeframe of an August start date (which was eventually shortened to a late May start date). For 11 months we paid monthly dues and checked in with Courtney (usually with a delay in her response time). As you can imagine, we planned our lives around this arrangement and had our son in an interim daycare in the meantime. As the start date approached, we were communicating with Courtney for a couple of weeks attempting to get the paperwork and a pre-visit scheduled. She confirmed a time and date via email, noting that the following would happen in that visit: - We would meet the teachers, which was very important to us, especially after pulling our son out of our current daycare with wonderful teachers. - The teachers would observe him and determine whether he should be placed in Infant 1 or 2. When we arrived, Courtney had no idea why we were there. Then a woman named Shannon came out and said that she heard I was there to do a tour. I clarified that it wasn't a tour and explained what I had spoken to Courtney about. She asked if I was aware that Courtney was leaving the DAC, which I was not. Then she told me that unfortunately the infant 1 and 2 teachers were not there that day, and instead there were subs. So the entire point of the pre visit - to meet the teachers and get my son observed - was not able to happen. Shannon provided no apology, no acknowledgement of the chaos of the visit and the fact that the child care group appeared to not have their house in order, nothing about how this never happens and something was lost in translation with Courtney leaving... nothing. We walked out of the DAC and agreed that we did not feel comfortable sending our son to daycare there. After 11 months of excitement to have our son at DAC, after 11 months of paying for a social membership just to be on the wait list, we now have to scramble to come up with a new plan for daycare. We have invested a great deal of money and time into this experience and the ONLY thing that the DAC refunded us was our first month daycare payments, despite multiple emails to all levels of the organization. I wanted to share my experience in hopes that it saves others from going through what we went through with no resolution. read more

A Denver institution since 1884, probably renovated in 1988 and certainly very unchanged for the 25 years since it seems... Denver Athletic Club is a blast from the past to say the least! My favorite part of the facility is that I got a true sense of what a membership gym looked and smelled like before the internet, DVDs and Yelp were invented. I would love to rent out a space here for a genuine late-80s theme party. Although I'm not a member (and glad given the astronomical rates I saw) and haven't seen all that the Denver Athletic Club has to offer, my dodgeball and volleyball leagues rented gym space for our seasons and my fifteen or so visits made me glad I wasn't paying 2013 gym membership prices for a club that feels like it's heyday was when before my friends and I were in elementary school. In an age dominated by modern and polished gyms like Colorado Athletic Club - Tabor Center, I see no reason besides nostalgia that anyone would become a member of DAC. I certainly hope our dodgeball and volleyball leagues choose a new location next season to host our games! read more

The DAC has been in Denver since 1884 and now I know why. It definitely is not Just a Gym...it is everything you need. Conference rooms, pool tables, bowling alley, wifi to work, a card room, a huge Squash program, Hot yoga, olympic size pool and CrossFit all in one place! Yes, it is more expensive than a lot of places, but it is open 24 hours a day, on holidays even! Fun rooftop concerts and happy hours are also a blast. Staff is great, members are for the most part nice, and if I am travelling I can go to reciprocal clubs all over the place. The DAC has all the equipment and amenities you need for working out, but for the steep initiation and monthly costs, if fitness is what you're after you can save a lot of money elsewhere. Up front it sounds like everything is available to you as a dues-paying member, but there are a lot of extra fees if you want to optimize your experience. I also noted being charged for things I never purchased, on every statement (they were removed after I objected). Being a former gym owner and holding a lot of the same credentials as the staff, it is clear that the business model is oriented toward becoming a champion socializer. I attempted to arrange a VO2 Max test and it seemed the staff had better things to do with their time, via phone, email, and in person. Group bicycle rides were cancelled. The CrossFit box hasn't been upgraded in a long time and has some annoying restrictions (no dropping weights during business hours). read more

The DAC is convenient if you're downtown - and not too difficult to get to from anywhere else. It's like no other club I've joined. There's still the faint him of cigar smoke of decades past emanating from the dark wood paneling right next to the huge, updated workout room. THey offer a variety of classes and outings and seem to keep up with most of the workout trends. What I like best are the other amenities. You can work out anywhere - where else can you have a free happy hour before a concert, transportation to and from and reserved seats that they bought for you? Or free bowling in an 8-lane retro bowling alley the takes you back to 1950 (except for the video games everywhere)? It's pricey, but those little perks are a nice touch. It's also a nice place to have dinner and watch the Parade of Lights, or go on a hike or run with a group. Not perfect, but a Denver original. read more

I just joined this gym after looking at Tabor Center, the regular Rec. Membership from the City, and Cherry Creek Athletic Club. My big "sticking point" when it comes to a gym is the pool. I love to have an open pool that doesn't have too many kids floating around. Cherry Creek provides an excellent outdoor pool (open year round) but when I used the trial pass, the pool was very busy with families. The CAC Tabor Center pool is nice, but not a full 25 yards (very hard to count laps). I found the pool at DAC to be the nicest of the three - clean, not full of families, and there has always been an availability of lanes. The rest of the facility is pretty nice too. Nice spin bikes, great class schedule, and good instructors. I never took a yoga class but didn't feel embarrassed when I stepped up to a Hot Yoga class. The membership rates are pricey ($180/month) for 2 people under 29. However, you do get a lot with that. They also have additional activities for members that seem good, but I have yet to intend one. read more

I have been a member for about 6 months. Previously, I was a member of the CAC and while the ammenities at the CAC are nice, only for working out, the DAC is a completely different environment. If you are just looking for a gym to workout at then this is probably not the best value in town. If you are looking for networking with some of the movers and shakers in Denver then this is absolutely the place for you. It seems interesting to me that folks keep talking about the "astronomical prices" for membership, but quite honestly this is not a gym, this is a social club and social clubs are not generally cheap to join. This is probably one of the better priced social clubs across the nation, and the fact that you get reciprocity with other clubs across the world is HUGE if you travel a lot. The social networking possibilities are endless and you are getting to spend time with driven, successful professionals, both younger and older, and that seems completely worth the money to me. This club is what you make of it. I am willing to bet the majority of negative reviews come from folks that didn't take the time to plug-in to the community at the DAC. If you don't put in the effort to get to know people here then that is really on you and not on the DAC staff/members as they will do whatever they can to plug you in. Again, this is nothing like the CAC. There is a certain prestige that comes with being a member of the DAC. It is pricey, if this is not how you choose to spend your money, but to each their own. Some folks will spend $3000+ on a mountain bike or doing whatever hobbies they enjoy doing, so if social networking and attending club events are not your interests then that is fine, but it's all in where your priorities lie. Saying this place is too expensive is just as arbitrary as saying you will spend a ridiculous amount of money for a hobby you enjoy doing that others might think is ridiculous. Where I grew up and how I grew up, this is something that is the norm and the DAC is moderately priced for a social club when you look at social clubs across the US. DAC is amazing in what lies behind the doors; a 25 meter pool, squash courts, steam, sauna, crossfit, pilates, yoga, spinning, child care, bar, fine dining, billiards and a bowling alley! If you have kids this place is a no-brainer, the club has many child-care options to ensure you can get out on evenings without worrying about the kiddos. People have mentioned the price, but this is truly a "you get what you pay for" scenario. You simply cannot find all of these offerings anywhere in Denver outside of the DAC. We have had a family membership for the past 9 years. Many good things can be said about the club: the swim team has been great for our daughter, the spin classes are good, and the food is pretty good too. However, should you have a billing dispute, it will never be resolved. In addition to my membership, I've been a monthly parker, paying several hundred dollars extra each month. In spite of that, for a three month period, I was charged a daily charge. Complained about it, complained about it again, and again, never rectified. A month ago, unable to use the club's services during Covid, we resigned, yet they keep billing us for the club, say it's in the invisible contract. Do yourself a favor: don't put yourself through it. There are better clubs and they cost less. At DAC, customer is NEVER right! read more

I am a member and the DAC is the best gym I have ever worked out at. The price is higher than most, but the service is excellent, the place is always clean, clean, clean and they have everything -- indoor pool, two hot tubs, steam and sauna rooms, racquetball/squash courts, basketball court, spin room, cardio/free weight/machine weight areas, multiple lockers rooms, rock climbing gym, etc.. They even have a four-lane bowling alley and free garage parking in downtown. All the amenities make going to work out that much easier. In fact, it is now a true pleasure. PS: The people here are not snobby. This gym is no different than any other gym. Some people want to work out without distractions and some are friendly. Its never too crowded and the city views are amazing. The yoga is my faverorite part I think. I love the teachers and the classes are all wonderful. DAC is the best! I planned a party from thousands of miles away and Beth and the chef NAILED IT! The location is perfect for anyone near the convention center (or downtown) and the crew is very accommodating and attentive. I hosted a group in the Billiards room - everything was on-point. It was a perfect place for a post-convention party. My attendees had a great time and I was able to relax and enjoy myself. Our group ran late, and the staff accommodated. For my group the DAC and the Billiards room offered a fun spot for a private party, a dedicated bar, good food and an attentive team! Update - we are still members and still happy with the DAC. Looking forward to our 6th Parade of Lights night coming up in a few weeks (still the best Santa) and love that the club changes it up every year so there are new and fun activities. Facilities update: LOTS of upgrades! Whole new 2nd floor social areas, locker room remodels and the fitness center has all new equipment. My husband loves the new ladder climbing machine. There are more upgrades/remodeling projects in the works. I like that they take them in small enough chunks to be finished quickly but large enough to make an impact for the short inconvenience. It's not a construction zone but things are entering this century. We are pleased with the changes. Parking update: members get 2 hours of parking in the garage ANYTIME. You don't have to even be in the club. That is so helpful for getting anything done downtown. And...if you have a meal at the club, members get 3 hours of complimentary parking. PT update: Denver PT moved out of the DAC a few years back. Thankfully I don't need them anymore but it was the only place in town where you could park your kids in childcare and get PT so that's a bummer. Daddy Daughter Dance is the best: My husband and daughter go every year. She's probably getting too "old" to still be going (she's in middle school and it is an event geared for younger girls) but she and her friends just have so much fun dancing and getting face painted, etc. that we are more than happy to have her enjoying being a kid just a little longer. Food update: Get the new pork belly appetizer in the DAC restaurant. Just get it. You'll be in your happy place. (the menu has had a much needed update and includes grass-fed beef, wild caught Alaskan salmon, etc.) Why the 4 stars? I think they're close to 5 but not quite there. They need a better plan for school aged kids (too old for the drop off child care but not old enough to "free roam" the club) and I think that will come as they continue to grow a younger membership base. read more

The DAC is finally on the move again! Moved here last year and joined the club for three reasons: 1, Great workout facility; 2. Instant social or business network opportunities; 3. Extremely flexible meeting space for business functions whether it's one-on-one coffees, group dinners, or full blown conference meeting rooms. Yes, I was initially concerned that it would be a bit high-brow and older, but I've come to find out, the older members (most of whom are way cooler than you'd think) just hang out more frequently than some because they have the time to take advantage of both the fitness and social sides of the club. New membership is up, and it looks like the demographic is definitely getting younger. With GM Mike's team and Chef Dom, the service and the food have gotten so much better (can't beat pasta night and the wine tastings!), plus the second floor renovation has drastically transformed the main dining area into a cool space for various foodie events. The cost for everything if you join as a family, is well worth it. You can even get a one-month free trial membership to see how it suits you. Starting a family? They have daycare on the premises! I love working out and do have realistic expectations. This is a great $110 club, but there is a catch - it costs $214 a month and a $350 joining fee for someone over 40; under 40 the dues are about 85% less. This is the review I needed before going on a tour. This is a huge facility with a lot of exercise experts and space. For instance if you have two or more kids between the ages of 4 and 18 this is a great place for a family; if you are retired this is a great place for you. Even with the extensive amenities it's just not worth it for me. I like to work out. This place is less about working out and fitness than it is about milling around, talking (possibly making connections) and playing novelty sports (like squash and bowling). It's an old style country club like feel; it feels ancient in some places and updated in others. There is a lot of warn down 80's style Casino carpets. It's likely the most frumpy place I've been to ever (employees wear old style gold oval hotel name tags); that is likely the reason they give such a large discount to under 40's. They are desperate for members under 40. And there just seemed to be a large gender gap favoring men; worse thing about fitness clubs is dudes - dudes can be lame when working out. I could sense an identity conflict of some sort, because you were constantly being confronted with elderly people's sensibilities (old dark furniture, frumpy uniforms, over sized locker rooms, bars, lounges, old and over filled 80's chairs and couches everywhere) vs. what is considered authentic and contemporary for current fitness facilities (tons of cardio, fresh, clean and light finishes, casualness (a friend/accessible/family feel), diversity and a focus on total health). This place may be trying to do to much; it's floors feel and look like a mess (busy and cluttered). It kind of seems like a co-op garage sale at times. Just no focus and/or united mission and direction. We did catch two super old sun spotted out of shape white dudes 90% nude having a disjointed conversation in front of a 50" flat screen locker room TV while watching Fox News - it was right out of central casting. Also I support fitness centers that discourage people from hanging out nude - I get the feeling that dudes can often fish for gay sex in these environments. Not that these two old dudes were doing that - they just seemed a bit to comfortable. The guy I took the tour with wanted an avenue to meet people - but I am not sure this is his best bet. You can't help but think that 1982 was a very good year for DAC. On a scale of 1 to 10; 10 being the best I give DAC this: Value = 1 (Everything costs and it's very expensive even for what a member gets; if you have a family membership and two kids, it still would be too much cost wise. Places that love the community do not do this. The 10 members that are at the club the most don't get their value, it's simply seems like a scam.) Accessibility = 3 (Parking lot time is limited and spots are tight, the p. garage is kind of dirty, low and scary feeling, location is good if you work downtown. They do have 24 hr. access, but difficult to access if you are super late/super early.) Amenities = 9 (There is a lot of stuff to do, there is nothing you can say your into and they would not have it. But hard to take advantage of it because of 2 hour parking restrictions, this parking issue is such a buzz kill. I would argue that most spaces are way underused.) Contemporaneous = 3 (Some of the spaces do feel good, but there are about four "libraries/work spaces" that feel like they were inspired by the board game Clue. There are a lot of established people over 60 in this club. It kind of feels like a place you would get judged in if you had something as benign as a tattoo.) Shenanigans = 2 (I know that this is an industry standard on some level; but that doesn't make it any more acceptable. There is up selling and every amenities has a caveat, like the "great" and "inexpensive" dinning - but there is an 18% automatic gratuity added, and membership dues are not posted (these two alone are deal breakers for me). If a place has to hide what they charge they really are not working in the interest of the community and it's a level of disrespect. The idea that there are different due scales for who you are, which I have no evidence of - but suspect (like if you were a legislature member), would so anger me if I were a member. There is little commitment to the community in this club; but a commitment to the community of current members. For instance I have been part of clubs that give preference and discounts to local community members. It's whole exclusitivity bend is very old fashioned and consistent with many's values.) BTW - FYI - I could be wrong, but I am getting a very strong "paid for posts" for DAC on Yelp - they did seem like they had financial issues. read more

I am not a member but attended a 2 hour event hosted by a member last evening. I parked in the club's garage and was charged $30 for the two hours I was there. Any other parking garage or open lot within walking distance would have been half that amount. It's outrageous to charge that much for a short visit, unless the goal is to gouge non-members to subsidize parking for members. I will be sure never to use that garage again, and urge others to find somewhere else to park if you are attending an event at the DAC. read more

As a 16 year member I feel compelled to write a quick review in response to some of the other negative reviews. I won't address the cost (expensive but well worth it when you consider the price of a nice meal out for two), or the social networking aspects (present but I don't know much about it). The weight room is the most open, spacious, and lightest in Denver. It has great views of the mountains, is not crowded, and has great machines. The pool is the best in Denver hands down - 25 meters, very clean, low chlorine, 81 degrees lap temp., 7 lanes available almost all the time, free Masters training (with coach). Almost all the classes are free: yoga, kettle bells, cross-fit, ski-fit, etc., etc. I could go on and on with squash, climbing wall, etc.. I've visited all the gyms in Denver and as far as athletic facilities go, it is head and shoulders above every other gym. The club is very family oriented and is one of the only places where you can train and hang out with your kids. There are rules there but common sense prevails unlike places like the Cherry Creek Athletic Club where the staff has a hissy fit if your 10 year old walks into the gym. Staff and members are very friendly and talkative. I just don't get all the nonsense about an "outdated 80s feel". It is true that the membership skews to male, white, older, downtown professionals and I'd like to see this shift but given the price and location that will be difficult. I know the dues are high but in the larger scheme of expenses in our lives, it seems well worth the money to me. read more
