So, if you want to do this ride, but don't want to pedal push just bring at least 10 other people with you and hop over one of the back wheels or in the way back and voila! you'll be sitting pretty. Here's another tip - the seats closest to the front are the highest so if you have long legs sit up there. If you have short legs sit toward the back. You'll be able to reach better. Here's something that I would have never guessed about the ride - no matter how hard everyone pedals you're never going to breach 5 mph. So don't plan on going too far or getting anywhere fast. But, truly in my mind that's part of the beauty of the ride. Here's something you should know about the owners and drivers - they are awesome. They stay sober for steering as the riders get progressively tipsier and tipsier after hitting up one bar after another. Most of these bars are spots where the Patio Ride peeps have set up a deal for a shot and a beer. Just be wary - most of the shots are straight liquor. Luckily most of the stops also have food to fill your tummies. Lastly, think of these drivers like a cab or limo driver and tip them too. How much is up to you, but it's always nice to show your appreciation for the person who stays sober amongst the drinkers so they can "drive" you around town. The Patio Ride is ridiculously fun and I can't even say why. Just that you need to experience it yourself to see. I also hope they get approval soon to be allowed to drink on board because I don't know if I'd ever stop my bike ride if I could pedal while sipping on some adult libation. They have the ability to play your iPod or they'll play their own and I believe they do rides with specific DJs on board if you want a real party ride. I believe the hourly rental rate is $160/hour Sun - Thurs and $180 Fri- Sat for the whole bike, but when you break it out over 15 people it's something like $12/hour per person which is a steal. They also sell individual seats for $15/person per hour for certain rides. And that my friends is my 1200th review.

We had PLENTY of time at each bar. We had a chance to try the beers (most of them were $5 for a beer AND a shot or $3 shots) AND order food during that time. Our tour guide Nick spoke with EVERYONE on the tour, totally friendly, knowledgeable, and was always offering to take our photo. It went by so fast!! What should have been a fun evening turned into a frightening and unacceptable ordeal because of our assigned driver/guide, Curtis. Despite Pedal Hopper's written policy stating that alcohol is not permitted, Curtis texted me prior to the ride with ways to sneak alcohol on board, and even stopped at a liquor store at the start of the tour to encourage purchases. This disregard for company rules created a dangerous environment from the start. The situation escalated when Curtis verbally berated my husband in front of law enforcement, using profanity and shouting at us. By the end of the ride, Curtis became aggressive, stopping the tour and kicking us off. In the heated exchange that followed, he attempted to strike my husband and instead hit me on the arm. This constitutes physical assault. Afterward, Curtis sent me a string of harassing text messages, which included personal insults and discriminatory remarks. I had to block him because the messages would not stop. I documented all of this with photos and screenshots, which I still have. I reported this incident directly to Pedal Hopper Denver management immediately after, requesting a refund and disciplinary action. To date, I have received no response from the company. No customer should ever be physically assaulted, harassed, or put in danger by an employee of a business. This experience was not just unprofessional--it was deeply disturbing and unsafe. I am pursuing further action outside of this review, but I feel strongly that others should be aware before booking.

No one from the company showed up, so we decided to call the number on the website. When we said that no one was there he sighed (expressing his annoyance) and asked what time it was. After he hung up with not telling us what was going on, I proceeded to call him again when he started cussing me out saying how "f*cking annoying I was for calling" I just replied saying "look all I wanted was to reschedule because I get that stuff happens and people are people and sometimes they forget" he then said "f*ck you" and hung up. After I texted him "you are the worst at running a business. If we do not get our money back I will take you to court" he THEN proceeded to call me 10 times in a row to start cussing again saying how dare I threaten him and then used more profanity that I don't think I have ever heard of. I had purchased a used E bike from a friend. My friend had purchased an E bike because she was in…read moreher mid 70s, I wanted to continue riding bikes with an assist. She was unable to get on and off of the bike because the frame was too tall, and so she sold her E bike to me. E bike only had 52 minutes logged on it. The bike worked except when you use the throttle. Rvery time you use, the throttle the bike would cut off and the motor would die. I was afraid that I was going to have to buy an entire new battery. In addition to that, I was having trouble finding an E bike repair place in the area that I could work with. I found Erod Ebikes online. Not only did he come and pick up the bike at my house because I didn't have a bike rack for my car, but his diagnostics were spot on, and he was able to fix the bike without replacing the battery and he kept it in the $100 range. I was so happy with the work that he did, his honesty, and his willingness to help when he came and picked up the bike at my house. I am recommending him to all of my friends with E-Bikes, and hopefully my bike won't break again anytime soon, but Erod bikes is the only place I will take it from now on!

However there were some pretty severe technical issues with the bike itself: the gearing was WAY off leading to some people having all the resistance and others barely being able to do anything. This meant we barely moved faster than a brisk walking pace (our friend actually managed to keep up with us during a phone call walking along the sidewalk!). This also fed into a secondary issue where the board above near your knees was a bit too close and, especially with little resistance, it was all to easy to smack into it hurting yourself. Lastly adjusting the seats was a bit difficult. For the amount of money I expected a bit more direction and time but you can only drink so fast. The tours listing 3-4 stops on their site seem ambitious even with a faster vehicle. In two hours we managed to hit two breweries. While we had a good time and the bike made for a fun team experience we could've just as easily have walked the whole thing. I'd home in the future they can make the experience a bit more worth the cost. We saw many of these types of tours in the RINO district where the breweries are closer together and the roads less intimidating/car-filled so that might be a better area for this.

He brought a ton of water for each of us and was constantly asking if we needed more water. He also brought sunscreen. With all of our frequent stops our tour ran almost an hour late. That wasn't a problem because we didn't have anything else scheduled afterward, but we were starving because our tour started at 10:00 and ended at 2:00. I would rather have started the tour at 9:00 instead so we could have finished earlier. But I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the Denver area. Colorado Sightseer has a variety of tours listed on their website. We chose the Blue Sky Mountain…read moreSummit Tour (fka Mount Evans) which is one of 58 14'ers (that's what they call mountains over 14,000 feet) in Colorado. The tour is a full day, leaving around 8 am from Union Station and arriving back around 430 pm in the afternoon. The tour van is quite comfortable and has three rows of seating in addition to a front passenger seat. I would say that the level of difficulty of the walking portion of the tour is not high, but the summit trail does require a bit of stamina and the air is a bit thinner up there, so you may be unaccustomed to it (more about this below). The other trails at Summit Lake (at 12, 800 ft) and Mount Goliath Natural Area are pretty flat (there are steps down to the lake). After leaving Denver city proper for the mountains, the tour stops for about 30-45 minutes at Mount Goliath visitor station, which has a small visitor center and a roundabout mini trail. What's truly amazing are the extremely old Bristlecone Pine trees, both living and beautifully sculpted old trunks (apparently some are 1500 years old). The trail is right on the tree line where the trees begin to dissipate, apparently because of the extreme winds that befall the mountain sides. Along the way is a very beautiful alpine lake (I can't recall the name). The tour stops for a few minutes (and there's a restroom). Next, the tour van proceeds rather gingerly up a (what some would call harrowing) two lane "paved" road claimed to be the highest in North America. Now, this road starts off all fine and well but proceeds to get more windy and twisty and the shoulders all but disappear with rather large drops just to the side. But we didn't fear, or closed our eyes if needed, because our driver, Emily, was at the wheel and expertly navigated the road, while providing very interesting facts and history along the way. Finally, we reached the summit of Mount Blue Sky. There's a parking lot and a final walking path that winds up to the peak of the mountain, 14,264 feet in elevation. The path is not difficult and there are no steep parts, but there are loose rocks and narrow portions. I did notice that some people had a bit of difficulty with it, but for most, it was very doable. In fact, a cane would be kind of fun to have with you. Once you get to the peak, it's for many a once in a lifetime experience. I mean how many people get to stand on a mountain this high? Luckily, it was a gorgeous day, and the temp was low 60s (it was upper 80s in downtown Denver) and clear enough to see the Denver skyline way, way off in the distance with binoculars. Our guide kept warning us that storms can form suddenly and to be on the lookout. Also, the temp drops quite a bit, so bring something warm, depending on the time of year. There is also wildlife along the tour and I gather that it depends on the day what you'll see. We caught amazing close up views of white-coated mountain goats, adults and cute little ones. In fact, I almost thought one of them would come up to the open door of the van. We didn't see any big horn sheep, but we did spot many marmots, which look like a mountain cousins of the beaver. The last stop was for a late lunch in Idaho Springs, which boasts itself as an old, scenic mining town. There were a few decent places for lunch along a strip closed off for walking, and stores for browsing. Also, there's a museum at one end of the downtown but there was not enough time to visit. The ride back from Idaho Springs was about an hour, leaving you back at Union Station. All in all, the Colorado Sightseer Blue Sky Mountain Summit Tour was amazing! Our tour guide Emily was fantastic, providing a lot of information along the way (including about her life), and a skilled van driver (she had available extra water, snacks, and jackets). I highly recommend the tour for a full day adventure!
