The Denver Marriott West was genuinely enjoyable. The staff was warm, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the overall experience made the trip easy and relaxing. We were relocating from San Diego to Rochester, NY with our English Bulldog, Titus, and made a stop in Denver for the night. We stayed at the Denver Marriott West, and honestly, it was one of the best hotel experiences of the whole trip -- especially as a pet owner! First off, this hotel is super pet-friendly. They've clearly thought about guests traveling with animals. We were given a ground-floor room with direct access to the outdoors, which made it so easy to take Titus out for potty breaks. There's a nice grassy area right outside the sliding door -- seriously convenient, especially after a long day on the road. On top of being great for pets, the hotel itself was clean, modern, and comfortable. And for Marriott Titanium members -- the breakfast was fantastic. Fresh, hot options with great variety, friendly staff, and a nice relaxed atmosphere to start the day right before hitting the road again. The location is peaceful, with easy access to the highway, and there are a few spots nearby to grab dinner or take a short walk. Whether you're just passing through or staying for a few days, this is a great place to stay -- with or without pets. 3 night stay for a wedding in golden. I'm a Marriott Bonvoy member so I tend to stick with the brand. Golden is conveniently less than 10 mins from this property. Across the 70 from this hotel is a large shopping center providing anything you may need/forgotten for your visit. The lobby is new and beautiful. Staff welcoming and helpful. Free parking. The rooms are standard Marriott style pre-remodel that is going on with the brand. Bed very comfortable with fresh linens. Can agree with others, the bathrooms are quite small but clean and functional. The star of the stay was the lobby lounge breakfast service. Very well proportioned and something for everyone. The servers were over the top friendly and attentive. This easily beats out the JW brands in my opinion. For those that have the status, the concierge lounge on the 6th floor isn't much to write home about. A fridge with sodas/water, some bagged chips a coffee machine and that's it. Breakfast and evening items are served in the lobby. Room service was good. Still served Covid style in disposable containers/paper bags. That said, the food was quite good and worth the price. Overall, a very good stay and would definitely choose again when visiting the golden area. read more

The staff was really friendly and able to assist with the questions we had. In general, this is your standard Marriott experience but just was very happy with our stay. Very comfy bed, fantastic shower, and the Elite breakfast buffet might be one of the best and most culinarily creative I've ever had. They didn't seem to offer "made to order" eggs but that wound up being just fine. They had some awesome green chile, pepper Jack, and buffalo sausage eggs. Really great. They also offered a pork cranberry sausage which was very good and different (in a good way!) from your usual offering. They also had pineapple juice in a can (which is one of the reasons I love Marriott) and was able to mix it with some orange juice. Fantastic breakfast. Free parking. Indoor pool. Pretty decent workout room. This is definitely our hotel of choice when we visit Red Rocks/West Denver. read more

Air conditioning does not work in room 608. Mobile key does not work. Line at front desk makes mobile key essential. Only after you had your meal, walk a hundred yards to your room do you realize mobile key did not work. Even though app says mobile key is authorized, Front Desk says it is not. Very pleasant people. In evaluating this as both a hotel and event space, I had a good experience on both counts. My hotel room was basic, but offered a few extra touches like a little aromatherapy spray for my pillow. Temperature control was exact down to the half degree, and given the cold I utilized the hot shower well. The event space held up reasonably well minus a few audiovisual technical issues and chairs that weren't the most comfortable. Parking was substantial, and the area around quite scenic, so I felt good about my decision to get a rental car and do a little exploring. read more

Small things that may throw off a guest a bit is the use of QR to order drinks and food rather than a traditional bar/restaurant with staff to interact with. Also, if you walk to the elevator, you are already on the second floor, so keep that in mind. Location was short distance from downtown Golden, 11 min Uber . 4 min driving from a shopping plaza with food options. Lobby was really nice and attached to bar and restaurant with plenty of cozy seating. Room was great for a short stay and really enjoyed the king size bed, was super cozy. Two cons, bathroom was super small and ac did not cool the room down enough. We kept lowering it to get the room cold but event at 60 degrees we couldn't feel a chill. Service was quick and efficient, nothing to brag about friendliness but no one was rude. You can buy a breakfast buffet as we did but you will be paying for very mediocre food. They had the potential to make it great, lots of food options, but food tasted borderline gross. I suggest going to the breakfast spots in the plaza across the freeway bridge for better food and spent money. read more

My parents have always preferred to stay at Marriott because we have always had a pleasant stay and the facilities are always modern and up-to-date. Unfortunately can't really say the same for this stay. Initially just walking in to our room, it felt... muggy like you weren't breathing fresh air and that was when it was set at about 72. So we tried setting the AC temp lower to about 65 thinking that it would feel less stuffy if it was cooler and we felt no difference in the temp or the mugginess even after a few hours. When we initially told the front desk later that night, we were told that they would let the engineer know right away so we went back to our room to wait for them and no one ever showed. We followed up in the morning and were told that the engineer had left for the night already previously so they sent out another message. Again, we never heard back. Eventually we found out much later on in the day that someone came out while we were away and nothing was wrong with the AC unit so nothing would be done. Okay.... We knew it was just our room because my parents and brother/SIL stayed in separate rooms and their rooms were nice and cold and absolutely not humid feeling. So that left a bad taste in our mouth. On top of that, the shower drain was clogged and the room itself seemed outdated and not very clean. I will say the bed itself is comfy and the location is very convenient as it was only about a 10-15 min drive to all the destinations we needed to go to for a wedding. Overall disappointed in our stay here and would not return. read more

It's an odd mix of both a hotel and a motel. On the motel part, it feels a little like someone forgot to just . . . take it to the next level of completion. Everything feels a little undone. On the hotel end . . . The rooms are clean, and sizable enough, but there's nothing fancy about any part of the hotel. Perhaps the shining achievement for the hotel, is the location. Conveniently located just off I-70, it's an easy place to get into the mountains after a late night arrival at Stapleton airport. This alone makes it a valuable place, but not necessarily a go-to place. I think there are other hotels that are more worthy of staying. read more

Having lived in the area for many years, I had come to meetings and events here in the past, but had never stayed in the hotel. Our first night, we were exhausted and thrilled to be here. Everything appeared nice and very clean for an older property. I noticed our room was overlooking I-70, and thought it was just extra noisy due to the time of day. That evening, the room was freezing and it sounded like I was camping out directly on I-70! I went over to the window and there was a huge breeze coming out from the left large window pane, and the window was not open. I turned the heater up and reported this and the noise to management. The next morning, they were able to move my room. One of the concierge employees came into the room and heard how noisy it was, and stated she would not have been able to sleep in there either. When I was checking out, the woman in front of me was asking to be moved to another room due to the noise of the highway. She mentioned she had her ear plugs in and still could not sleep. Our new room was much quieter and we were finally able to get some sleep for our last two nights. If I could stay on that side of the hotel again, I would definitely return. I wanted to stay at this hotel because of the Marriott brand, it allows dogs, and was convenient to everything I was in town for. read more

We came here for a girl's weekend and chose it because it was close to our other activity. The pictures on the Marriott app and website show a nice fire pit so we were excited to relax there. I'm a Marriott gold member so I'm pretty familiar with their product. We got a room with 2 double beds. There were 2 glasses in the bathroom. No cups for the coffee, but there is an in room coffee maker! At checkin we were given the breakfast menu and told we needed to order the night before if we wanted breakfast in the morning. The breakfast menu had 2 burritos and a yogurt parfait. That's it. The restaurant is closed. After dinner we asked how to get to the fire pit that we had been looking forward to enjoying. This is when we were informed that it had been removed. This was one of the top reasons we had for choosing this hotel. This was not a good experience and I was highly disappointed. read more

I am not a huge Marriott fan at all but this hotel has help seal the deal for never going back to Marriott Room service- after the first nights stay everything was changed over and looked good. Took a shower and as soon as I started to dry off there was hair and I don't mean 1 little strand of hair multiple pieces of long hair. So I called down and asked to have all my towels replaced in to have the body wash in the shower to replace because it was empty. Four hours later I come back to my room. The tiles are replaced, but the shower body wash was not. Calm down talk to the front desk. Ask if it could be refilled. The gentleman tells me yes he'll call me back to make sure it took place. One minute later, he calls me back and says that housekeeping is adamant that it is changed , I said OK and I hung up. I called back to ask for the manager on duty, but they don't have a night manager, but they do have a shift lead, I asked for the shift lead and the housekeeper that was adamant that it was changed to come up to my room. Not only did the shift lead see that it was not changed. They had issues in taking it off and replacing it. The issue here is not that it was not done. It is the fact that the front desk did not even consider me as a customer and what I had just informed them about and just took the housekeepers word for it as I was making the entire story up. read more

Where do I start? This hotel reminds me of someone's online profile who is catfishing. When you first walk in the lobby looks nice enough and well maintained and you think you have found a decent spot. Then you get to your room you find that it hasn't been updated since circa 1985. (In the bathroom the threshold tile didn't match the floor tile, the wallpaper was peeling, and there wasn't even a vent or a fart fan.) No breakfast, lunch, or dinner options other than overpriced room service and only a couple of tables in the lobby to work or eat your own food. There was barley desk and if you brought food you had to eat it on top of your bed so your sheets could get nice and greasy. There was no microwave, the fridge was tiny, and we couldn't get a room with two beds larger than doubles. There ar no queen size beds unless you get a single room. No coffee after 10am???? WTF? They had a free computer workstation but it was in the same room as the 10' x 10' snack bar and wedged between a rack of chips and sodas with no privacy so anyone could see what you were working on (I was working on finalizing some legal documents.) I was also with a group of softball teams staying for a tournament and everyone in our group had the same complaints and experiences, so I know our issues were not isolated. This place is a dump, and the staff and management are truly just phoning it in. The only redeeming thing was the outdoor pool that my kids enjoyed but not worth the stay. I will never come back and I hesitate to stay at another Marriot "Bonvoy" ever again. BUYER BEWARE. read more

I drove from the Denver airport. The hotel is off the highway. This was my first stay here. I was here on business for a conference. My king bed room 544 was $134.80 inclusive of all taxes and fees. As you can see from my pics I had some nice views of the mountain from my hotel room. My check in and check out went smoothly. My internet access was complimentary. There is no parking fee. As a platinum member, I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast buffet in the hotel lobby cafe. There are some nice restaurants in the area. read more

This hotel shouldn't be a Marriott! The hotel is so outdated, we had a horrible night trying to get comfortable in their bed the mattress has to be so old it caves in the middle. The a/c never cooked our room it was so humid and it's not even hot outside. I can't imagine when it's warm here what the room would be like. The bathrooms are so tiny only one person can fit at a time to get ready. My husband is a titanium elite and we will never stay here again, so disappointed we booked this hotel. read more

This was a very nice hotel from the outside and a little dated inside the rooms and the prices are a lot higher than I expected for the older facility but we were there visiting for a wedding. I'm not exactly sure $215 a night was Worth the tiny rooms without a microwave. We got double full beds, the most uncomfortable and small beds ever. I didn't sleep very well. Their wifi wasn't bad. There was a small fridge and they did offered coffee and tea. They had beautiful yet drafty window and we were always catching bugs and flushing them. Oh and speaking of flushing bugs, the toilet was awful and the room in itself needs a lot of maintenance done. Do people every check over these rooms to see what needs to be fixed?? Like the door in bathroom falling apart all over the floor?? I had to continue picking up parts of the door and throwing them away. We could hear the vehicles driving by from he highway which was good distance away and annoying. The hotel has a restaurant that's not to bad and they we're always busy. I think there was a convention going on while we were there among many other functions. The pool was ice ice cold and they say it was heated. There's no way it's heated. The front desk staff wasn't as friendly as I'd like but they were always busy. The maid staff was accommodating and always friendly and nice. Always making sure we had everything we needed whether or not we needed service. There is a small laundry room on the 1st floor which is nice. read more

The service at this Marriott is awful. I'm a lifetime Gold member and I've never had such terrible service at a Marriott. Tried to have dinner in the restaurant tonight and the menus were barely legible because the printer they used was running out of ink. I wanted a turkey blt but when I ordered it I was told it wasn't available and they were "taking it off the menu". Then why was it on the menu? The night before we went to the restaurant and there was no one at the bar or waiting tables. I had to go to the front desk to get some assistance. The front desk staff was no better. Not helpful and not friendly. Marriott standards have clearly slipped. When in Denver, stay somewhere else. This place does not meet Marriott standards. The hotel is conveniently located off the hwy and just around the corner across the way you have a nearby shopping center (Colorado Mills Mall) that has a Whole Foods Market, Marshall's, Old Navy, Bed Bath and Beyond, Barnes and Noble, movie theater and restaurants. When I walked into the hotel lobby the first thing I saw was the cozy fire pit which was the entrance to their dining area called the Copper Creek Bar and Restaurant. I was instantly drawn to it as it looked cozy and enjoyable. They also have a Starbucks in the Greatroom bar. No parking fees and there was plenty of places to park. Since the Restaurant looked so inviting I was expecting the rooms to be just a nice but I was a little disappointed with the rooms. They could use some updating. Stayed at the Marriott West before a morning meeting. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good. That's what I want and expect. The air conditioner wasn't noisy and the staff were friendly. Docking a star for leaving a USA Today instead of anything else in front of my door. The staff are friendly and checked my backpack so I din't have to carry it to my meeting. But let me tell you about the breakfast. The buffet was impressive. Omelets, fresh fruit, great coffee. The fruit, especially strawberries, were enormous. Check out my photo if you don't believe me. ENORMOUS. I also had cottage cheese with blueberries, yogurt, and something else. Also, the waitress left the coffee pot at my table so I was able to refill it myself. To start off the hotel location, amenities was perfect. Even the breakfast was quite good for a buffet and everyone working there were cordial, but I came out of my stay with bug bites. My first night I arrived late and pretty much went straight to bed. Waking up I found some type of bug bite on the inside of my arm. I didn't think too much of it and I took off for my day of meetings. I came back late in the evening for my last night there. In the morning getting out of bed I found five more bites on my body. This was very disturbing. It's apparent that the first bite and all the others came from the bed I was in. I packed and checked out. During the check out I explain what happened. They were very accommodating and ask if I needed anything to help with my situation. We filled out an incident report together and they said someone would call me. Well I talked with a Marriott representative who interviewed me and verbally expressed doubt in my story. She alluded that I may have picked them up somewhere else and brought them with me. She said they were looking for the bugs in the bed and would call me back if they found any in room 302. Seriously? Aren't those bed bugs microscopic? Unfortunately I will not be returning to the Denver Marriott West in Golden, CO and my interviewer could of been nicer on the call. Is was a customer service call. I don't have any premier level at Marriott. Was that why? Even though this was not something horrific that happened to me there, it was upsetting and disturbing. I hope they do what's needed to remove what was in the room and be a little more sensitive to the client. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful, and loved the Starbucks in the hotel. I didn't quite understand how the restaurants worked, or how to order drinks by the pool, as there really isn't any instructions on how to utilize these services. My family enjoyed the outdoor pool during the day, and the indoor pool at night amd neither were crowded on the weekend we stayed there. I will definitely look this hotel up during my next trip to Denver, as we were close to so much shopping and food. read more

Generally speaking, facilities can be said to be adequate. 4. Wifi was good 5. A/c control worked - you'll be surprised how difficult this is. Cons: 1. The Starbucks grab and go isn't a great deal. I'd advise against it since the speciality coffees are so so and it doesn't have a full or even half full Starbucks breakfast menu. The hotel staff was kind enough to swap out my Starbucks pass for a complimentary one even though I offered to pay the difference and get a pass for hot breakfast. 2. In today's day and age, if you don't have memory foam ultra plush bed in hotels of this category, that's a major knock off. 3. The quality of toiletries leave much to be desired. In summary I will say this hotel is typically less desirable than a Hyatt or a Hilton, but a shave above a holiday inn. Next time when I'm in this area, I will try out the Hampton inn instead even though it's a category below Marriott. Adios! read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. The night staff ruined my brother in laws wedding night. My brother in law had paid extra for the bar to stay open until 1am but they closed early the night of the event. Not only did they disappoint all of the wedding party and the bride and groom they also humiliated my husband by kicking him out of the bar area for no reason. I approached the man who kicked him out and he admitted there was no other reason than the staff telling him to cut him off. Once I asked the staff they stated that it was because of a friend of my husband giving him a massage and he appeared too relaxed. After rudely telling him to "get out" the bartender attempted to charge him double and did not believe my husband that he had paid until she all of a sudden remembered and apologized. I had better luck expectations for Marriott hotels, but we have been let down. read more

Rooms are pretty cramped compared to other Marriott's I've stayed at. There was a small uncomfortable chair in the corner and that was pretty much it, so I ended up in bed most of the time. I didn't notice, until someone moved in to the room next to me, that the walls are super thin. I could actually hear my neighbors entire phone convo, tv, etc. Super annoying. The lounge was great for breakfast and had light appetizers in the evening. Don't think you can make a meal out of the evening food because it's truly meant to be light snacks. Drinks are also pretty pricey in the lounge. Staff however, was always so friendly and welcoming. Not sure I'd stay again. read more

While in Golden for business, I had a fantastic 2 night stay at the Denver Marriott West. Even though it's part of the Marriott chain, the staff makes you feel like I was staying in a much smaller boutique hotel. My room was fine - standard sized tub, not a lot of wasted space, regular perks (ie no flatscreen TV), and it did have a small balcony. For the room itself, it wasn't cheap - my company paid over $200 a night for me to stay here. I have paid less for much bigger rooms in more expensive cities like Vegas and San Jose. We did pay a little extra to stay on the 6th floor and thus have easy access to the concierge lobby. In this lobby they serve a light breakfast, appetizers from 5 until 8 PM, and then desserts. The food was decent but you can't make a meal out of it - not sure I'd pay extra for it again. The hotel itself has a Starbucks in the lobby area as well as two restaurants. One open for breakfast and another (Sports-bar themed with lots of TVs) open pretty much all day long. Every time I called down to the front desk for something they asked me by name what they could do for me. It's a nice touch and makes you feel like you have your own personal butler when you don't have to give any staff member your name or room number. My room service orders were delivered extremely fast and the delivery staff was top notch. I'm from the Bay Area, so when my wife and I get away for the night and stay at a hotel in San Francisco, we're used to ultra expensive room service. The Denver Marriott West was a pleasant surprise in the price department. The portions were huge and the prices were very reasonable - I think the most expensive thing on the menu was a $30 rib eye steak. Burgers and sandwiches were about $10 delivered - again very reasonable. The king bed was very comfortable and there must have been 8 or 9 pillows of various density and fluff in the room. Saved me the effort of having to call down to the front desk looking for the "just right" pillow. My room also had an alarm clock with an iPod dock built into it - which was great for charging my iPod because I left the cable at home. Note that there is no smoking in any room of this hotel or on any of the balconies, but I did see several people smoking directly in front of the hotel and in the parking lot. I applaud Marriott's effort to make their hotel smoke free, but having small crowds of people smoking directly outside the hotel entrance gave a bit of an "outside a bar in California" initial impression. Location was very convenient, with Route 70 only a few blocks away. About half a mile away is a large retail plaza complex with several restaurants, a movie theater, and other shops.
