The 40 yard hike up a slight grade on a lighted path is almost enough to convince you that you are "in the mountains." While looking for someplace close to Denver where my husband and I could take a two-day mini-vacation and bring our dog along, I stumbled upon this gem. Juniper Lodge is a magical place, with lovely indoor and outdoor spaces to relax -- think rocking chairs, hot tub, game room, and firepits -- and Evergreen Lake and the cute little town of Evergreen are just a short drive away. In addition to the five rooms in the lodge, the property has two awesome-looking treehouses available to stay in, with plans for four more to be built in the near future. Although Juniper Lodge is conveniently located close to I-70, the property itself is woodsy and quiet. We enjoyed making s'mores at one of the firepits while watching swarms of hummingbirds drink and battle each other at the nearby feeders. I loved sitting in one of the rocking chairs on the deck overlooking the forest, reading my book, drinking my coffee, and listening to the birds sing. We also explored the trail above the lodge leading to the treehouses and a stage area that would probably be a neat place for a wedding. We only met Ashley during this visit, but she was kind, attentive, and passionate about the property. We would highly recommend Juniper Lodge to anyone looking for a beautiful, quiet, and romantic place to stay. read more

Truly what a joy- flew up for 3 nights at JMH and could not have loved it more. We stayed in the Boxelder room downstairs which is the closest to the outdoor hot tub (didn't use but still neat). The decor was so perfect-like modern southwestern rustic, not sure but I made notes for my own home. Bed comfy, shower hot, fire place inside the room a dream. In the room there is a mini fridge and water kettle, but just outside the room there is a sitting area and mini kitchenette with a microwave. There are a number of loungey gathering areas at the house, I think it would be perfect for a chill girls' weekend where you book out a few rooms. Everything was exactly as shown on the website and while we never met the owners in person, they were so accommodating with quick communication through text. Checking in and out was smooth. You will need to be ok with a flight of stairs to get in the front (and then down to the room if that's what you choose). The driveway is steep but the hosts put gravel on it if icy and our all wheel drive sedan did not have an issue. We spent one of our days at Breckenridge Nordic Center (loved) about an hour drive away. Don't sleep on their food offerings at JMH- we ordered a charcuterie board and wine to greet us at check in and a hikers pack lunch which we brought and ate on a break from skiing in Breck. So yummy-- The owners also put together a local recommendations manual and their recs for coffee and food in Evergreen were spot on. We would definitely choose JMH again! read more

Juniper Mountain House in Evergreen is a special place. It's a boutique hotel in the style of a modern day bed and breakfast (sans the breakfast). The house is cozy, remote, and filled with spectacular vibes, courtesy of owners Alea and Ashley, who treat their guests like family. I booked a weekend staycation for my lady's birthday present back in November. Little did she know that I planned to propose to her here. On Friday night, I popped the question on the snowy, outdoor deck by the fire. It was perfect. She said yes, obviously! For that reason alone, Juniper Mountain House will always hold a special place in our hearts. However, let me touch on more specifics regarding the house. First things first, book online via their website if you can. You can also find them on Airbnb and other booking platforms. There are five rooms to choose from, we stayed in the Evergreen Room downstairs that has a beautiful view of the mountains. It's also worth noting that it was only a 30 minute drive from Denver! You arrive by driving up a lengthy driveway and starstruck by the most picturesque mountain home. We were greeted instantly by Alea, as she gave us the rundown and tour of the property with the house dog, Denali. Oh, they even have a hiking trail on site that leads to their wedding venue known as The Meadow. Yeah, this place is pretty damn dreamy. There are two common areas inside the house that are perfect for relaxing. Choose your adventure here by going on a hike, jumping in the hot tub, playing pool, sitting by the outdoor fire pit, or getting to know the other guests staying on site. Like any outstanding business, the people behind the scenes make it special. Ashley and Alea were a joy to talk to, so much so that they brought out a bottle of champagne when they heard about our engagement! Little touches like these, in addition to how they've thought about every minute detail of the house to make it functional and fashionable, made our stay absolutely perfect. I don't like to throw around that P word too often, but I can't think of a more perfect word to describe our experience here. Damnit, I used it again... Juniper Mountain House may be my favorite place in Colorado, if not on planet earth period. If you are looking for a curated, peaceful, luxurious escape into nature, this is definitely the spot. Their guest rooms are all unique and impeccably decorated, we've stayed in almost all of them at this point, playing our own game of Juniper Bingo, and each is delightful in it's own way. Consistent among them all though are the softest sheets you've ever felt (so much so that I just bought a set for home using the very cool Shop Our Space website they provide with links to some of their most beautiful items), plush bathrobes that are intended to keep you cozy on the way to the outdoor hot tub, a swanky coffee and tea set up, and perfect mountain views. Not only are the rooms sublime, but the common spaces are perfection. From the epic outdoor deck with heaters to keep snug in the winter, to the elevated fire pit deck where you can enjoy a S'Mores Kit they have available for purchase, to the beautiful bar/dining area with just enough self serve options, back to the hot tub nestled in the trees just on the edge of the property, we always have a hard time leaving the grounds of Juniper Mountain House. But if you want to venture out, the lovely town of Evergreen and the splendor of the Rocky Mountains is all right there. Definitely the crown jewels of Juniper Mountain House are it's owners - Alea & Ashley LaRocque - who put so much care into the space and their guests. They are always working on something, and it's fun to see the slight changes and improvements every time we visit. But more importantly, they make all of their guests feel special, taken care of, and totally pampered in their spectacular oasis in the mountains they've created. We came into town for the Triple Bypass and the Juniper Mountain House was 10 minutes from the start line. The house is near the freeway but feels secluded - absolutely surrounded by Pines. Ashley greeted us and was so welcoming and lovely. The house is decorated in this super cool modern/lodge vibe. Not too much, not too little. They thought of every detail. They pipe this incredible music throughout the hallways and patio of the home, but you can't hear it from your room so no concerns over it being disruptive. I had never thought about doing that but it gives life to the house and creates this super chill relaxing atmosphere. The patio is where we spent the majority of our time. Playing cards, having a drink, enjoying the hot tub, drinking coffee by the fire, watching the hummingbirds at the various feeders. The rooms were comfortable and clean - and COOL in the summer. They each have individual AC units that worked perfectly. We can't wait to come back!! read more

Wow. Cannot say enough about how cute this place is!! We stayed here a few nights after our destination wedding in Colorado and our only regret is that we were only there for the night and not longer. Not only was the communication with the property owners seamless which made for easy self check-in, but they were so friendly. We felt at home from the moment we arrived on the property. The inside is perfectly decorated. The rooms were cute and clean and the beds were comfortable. The deck/hot tub area is the real selling point. My husband and I poured ourselves a drink and spent the evening in the hot tub which was nestled in between trees. JMH provided the ultimate relaxation that we needed after a hectic (but amazing ) week. We both left saying we can't wait to come back here one day soon! Ps. They also have a self serve honor bar and s'mores kits for roasting by the fire for $5. Such a cute touch and we will definitely be taking advantage of that when we come back. Juniper Mountain House is amazing! The owners Ashley and Alea are super welcoming and accommodating. Originally we were going to stay at their place as a hotel, when COVID hit, our wedding plans -- like many others -- had to pivot. They helped us plan a small-scale outdoor event for 29 guests. The spot was beautiful, quaint but also a comfortable place for our wedding party to stay, get ready and host our guests. Now, I couldn't imagine our wedding weekend any where else. The ladies are so accommodating and friendly - I felt well taken care of and also had all the privacy I needed to work and have time to myself. Juniper Mountain House exceeded our expectations in every way! We absolutely loved staying here and even extended our stay by a night because we weren't ready to leave. The owners Alea and Ashley (and their pup Denali) are so kind, and they've crafted such a welcoming, tasteful space. We were here over New Years, and they hosted an afternoon champagne toast and opened up the hot tub for us late so we could ring in 2023 in style. Our room was beautifully arranged and so comfy, and we loved hanging out by the fire, making s'mores, and playing Scrabble in our luxurious robes. Alea and Ashley also recommended a phenomenal restaurant for us in Golden, and gave us other tips about the surrounding area so we could have the best possible start to the new year. I cannot say enough good things about Juniper Mountain House! My husband and I stayed there as a date night escape from our 3 babies under 2 years old (yes, there's twins in there!)...and it was PERFECT. Gorgeous setting, impeccably designed and thought out...down to the perfect balsam scented candle that truly confirmed the feeling of being in the mountains. We were greeted warmly and showed to our room, and then the hostesses Alea and Ashley shared their story with us, and gave a tour of the accommodations. Lovely, "feels like Telluride" design and perfect room setup. Our room was.....there's no other word....SEXY. Great lighting, the softest bedding, velvet drapes, fireplace....all allowed a re-connection like my husband and I haven't had since our twins were born. SO many thanks for that.
