I've been a Yelp lurker for years.  Using the reviews, but never getting around to actually writing my own.  So when I come across a service that makes me FINALLY take the time to write a review, it's gotta be either really good or really bad.  Fortunately, in the case of Denver Handyman Services, it is the former. Sure, I had seen all the do it yourself shows on TV and figured how hard could it be to change out a noisy bathroom fan?  I found out its easier to rip stuff apart then it is to replace it and make it look pretty.  Add to the fact that I suddenly was on an unexpected timeline to get the job complete and I started to worry. I found Denver Handyman Services on Yelp and explained my story.  From the start, Matt was very friendly and easy to work with.  Even on short notice, he was able to fit me in within a week.  Communication was excellent and once completed, I will say the work was excellent as well. Done quickly, cleanly, on time and a reasonable price.  What else can you ask for? Suck it HGTV and all those HD commercials encouraging me "Let's do this."  Save the headache and call the professionals.

    Before

We had a project that a previous contractor was unable to finish for us, so we reached out to a few other places to see if someone could complete it. We have a fireplace that we wanted tiled and the detail work is very important. Denver's Handyman Services was by far the most prompt and professional in contacting us. We received a thorough quote and had the work scheduled in just a few days. Brian was in good communication with me prior to arriving at our home. He asked questions to make sure he was prepared to start the first phase of the work upon arrival. He walked me through the steps, timeline, and made sure he fully understood the vision we were looking for. His communication was such a breath of fresh air, considering we were coming off a project where the contractor and workers were always late, never communicated, and frankly were very frustrating. Brian's attention to detail and execution of the tile work was incredible, especially considering how the fireplace looked when we started. He also helped troubleshoot the trim work to complete the tile, making sure we had a finished product that looks amazing! Note: I wanted to paint the trim myself and am also personally refinishing the hearth in front of the fireplace. I'm sure they would have done that for me had I asked though. Pictures reflect before and after the new marble tile work.

Matt installed the tiles, recessed shelf, and new jetted tub

We first hired him back when he was known as "Steve Beam Handyman," and it's been amazing to see him grow and expand his services with the launch of Denver Remodels Inc. Over the years, Steve and his team have tackled everything from small repairs (like anchoring heavy drapery hardware into our finicky plaster walls) to major renovations (like restoring the exterior of our 1908 Craftsman). One of our favorite projects was transforming our mudroom by removing a wall and building a custom breakfast nook. This was a complex project, but Steve's expertise and creativity shone through. He even suggested a design element in the booth walls that perfectly complemented the Craftsman lines of our home - it's those little details that make a huge difference. What we think truly sets Steve apart is his incredible craftsmanship, creativity, and his consultative approach. He takes the time to truly understand your vision and offers expert guidance throughout the design process. Whether you're tackling a small project or a major renovation, Steve's deep knowledge and experience are on display with every project he does. He's always there to answer questions, offer suggestions, and steer you in the right direction, ensuring that the final result is even better than you imagined. His team is equally fantastic - professional, efficient, and incredibly skilled. If you're looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, and truly exceptional remodeling experience in Denver, look no further than Steve Beam and Denver Remodels Inc. They're a standout and I'm so glad we found them.

For someone like me who isn't very great with tools, the service was more than valuable. Svetlana, the scheduler, was responsive with scheduling and flexible to my availability. They were nice enough to come the day after Christmas, which was technically a federal holiday. She told me the price up front. She also found me a wire cover on Amazon to order and sent me instructions on how to purchase them. Artsem, the technician, arrived mostly on time (within the window I was given). He was very friendly and efficient. He wasted no time in getting the TV measured and holes drilled. The entire process took about one hour. He also was very tidy, laying down paper towels before drilling and cleaning up his area. He made sure everything was adjusted to the height I preferred. I really appreciated his insight on where to place the wires to make the console look most beautiful. His expertise was apparent throughout. At one point the drill bit I was sent along with the wire hiding kit broke. Luckily, Artsem came prepared with a spare bit and everything was saved. The price, including the $50 deposit, came out to $215 for the wire hiding and mounting. I paid $50 beforehand and $165 after completion. I'd say it's worth it. He came with all the tools, on time, and finished the job quickly. Everything is straight and level too. He also told me to save the pieces he drilled out from the wall so that I could fix the wall when I move out from my rented place. I appreciate that he's thinking ahead like that. Last, he accepts Venmo. Overall, a great value and a great team of folks.

7/12/25 Aurora, CO: So glad I called a Handyman instead of an electrician! I have a few…read moreelectricians I've used before, so I had a few to choose from when my light fell down a couple days ago. But they usually can't fit me in for a week or two. Plus, if all went well with the light, I had a few more items I wanted to discuss, and they would require a Handyman. So I called Tim (Artsem is his full name, in case you've seen that in other reviews), he picked up first call, I explained about the light, and I asked how soon he could come? I said "Can you come tomorrow?" Now I don't know if he usually works on Saturday, but he said "Sure, how about 9 - 10am?" Worked great for me! So I showed him the light, thinking he would have to get into the attic to get "above" the fixture to replace the cup-thing it screws into, but he said no, everything is done down below. So he ran to Home Depot to get the correct cup thing, and knowing he was heading to HD anyway, I said "See this rusted vent? I tried to unscrew it and change it myself, but it's caulked on tight. Can you replace that?" "Sure!" (Add $10 to my bill. I'm happy with that!!) So I showed him another vent in the basement, and he did that one also. While we were at it, I asked him to put some wall anchors on a tall set of cabinets in the garage, and anchor it to the wall so that it never tips over. And I showed him where a hook on the garage wall fell down because I hung too many folding chairs on it. He picked up some extra long screws at Home Depot, and took care of that too. In addition, I thought that my ceiling fan wasn't working, and had him look at it. He found the problem quickly, and it's working again! Same thing with a lightbulb in the basement subfloor that wasn't working, he got it working again. So I am super happy to have found Tim, and I will 100% for sure be using him again very soon, because I have lots more on my Honey-Do list. Someone asked in the Questions section how much he charges: I believe his minimum fee may be $100. But it seemed that each little thing that I asked him to do (like replace the vents, anchor the cabinet to the wall, re-hang the hook in the garage), he priced at $10 each. I believe he said he charges either "$60 per hour, or a flat rate", like when my fixture fell down, he asked me to send pictures, I did, and he texted me a flat rate without seeing it in person, and I loved his price and said yes. For small items that are quick, like 10 minutes, would be about $10. (He does add on the Home Depot price of whatever he has to buy to do it, so $16 for each of my vents. Therefore, $16 + $10 = $26. Can't beat that! So be sure and find a few items that need fixing, and call for it all to be done in one trip. I was 10/10 pleased with his pricing, I felt his prices are low, but his ability and expertise is high!! Anyway, if you live in Denver, I would call Tim, and if it is something he has done before and knows how to do, I bet you are going to be super happy like I am!! Thanks, Tim!

Then they invoiced us for more than twice the cost of the original estimate even after they "took off" some charge for delay and poor communication When we had them out to for an estimate and spoke about the jobs and it was clear that we saw there could need to be additional work added to complete the job correctly once we got started, which should have been included in the estimate. Instead they added more charges later with no explanation. Also On the estimate they simply wrote "materials not included" and never discussed possible costs an then the the cost of materials was 2/3 more than the estimate for the actual work. This is completely duping customers with what their final cost will be! Customers understand there is a cost for materials, which they could include at least a rough number in the original estimate, but if material costs will be almost as much as the work they should include this in their estimate. This is a sneaky, dishonest business practice. Along with the high cost of our materials, we had to pay for every person that came to replace the previous person that did a terrible job. The first person tried to complete the job as a total amateur and ruined what they were meant to improve. Then 3 other workers tried unsuccessfully to complete the job and wasted time and materials to do a horrible, poor quality job, which then had to be corrected by consecutive workers. Finally after 6 weeks the job was completed by a single person in 2 days. Even after all these weeks and people we still have one thing that was working before they arrived and when they finished the left it completely unusable and we have to hire another company to fix what they ruined. By the end when we received the invoice we filed a complaint and they took off a nominal amount but never reconciled the horrible work, time, or inflated charged.
