When I had my tile roof replaced by the same contractor who offered a roof replacement program to several residents in my community. The work went well until the final city inspection. The contractor did the work properly but shortly after the final inspection was ordered he file bankruptcy and completely ignored the steps to close the permit with the city. That is attending the final city inspection which would finalize and closed the permit. For years the permit remained open and was finally closed with a failed inspection stamp. A few years later at insurance renewal time, the insurance company required a new roof since the original permit was never finalized. A new tile roof is approximately $30,000. Needless to say, All the work was completed properly by the contractor, however performance was never proven to the city and years later the permit was closed as failed inspection due to contractor not being available at the worksite as required. To attempt to salvage the work and not invest in a new tile roof, I was referred to two consultants. The Lifestyle Contractor of Lake Worth Florida (Lifestyle). The firm was represented by MS Jane E. Snell and Ace Pro Roofing of West Palm Beach Florida. That firm was represented by Mr. Tony Tomaino (Ace Pro). Both parties are licensed in Florida. The goal was to reinstate the final roofing permit, Inspect and make a few repairs to cracked tiles, remove tiles to enough to prove to city officials the work has been done properly, and certify to the city and insurance company the work was completely in a professional manner, open the roof for city inspection and finalize the project with the city and the insurance company. The team of Snell and Tomaino, thankfully was the right call. Early on, I realized that Snell was the right person for the task. She knew what paperwork needed to be done, was prompt in returning phone calls, kept me advised of dates tasks would be completed, arranged for the proper personnel to be at the site and initiated all contractor meetings and paperwork required. I quickly learned this was a sophisticated and demanding task which was done in a professional manner from start to finish. Likewise Ace Pro was extremely professional, remained in contact throughout the project and worked extremely well with the Cities construction officials. In addition, they examined all parts of the roof to assure it was all in satisfactory condition. The Ace Pro team was extremely cooperative with the construction officials, did all the they requested and treated my roof as if it were their roof. They put the project back together promptly and attentively. While this review may be wordy, I cannot point to any area of responsibility that was handled in less than a professional manner which was driven by the attitude of doing the job RIGHT.

Over the phone and during on-site consultations, they were very friendly and very nice. Then the first estimate came in--padded with items and tasks I didn't ask for. I chalked it up to a simple mistake or miscommunication. When I got the estimate for the second place and again saw it bloated, I realized it wasn't a miscommunication; they simply added unrequested tasks to drive up the bill (namely demolishing and rebuilding the entire shower when I only wanted controls moved). I'm not going to entrust renovations on my home to a crew that doesn't follow instructions during consultations. What guarantees would I have that they'd follow instructions on the job itself after being paid half the quote up front? Fast forward a couple months, I get a voicemail AND an email from their office asking whether I still needed their "help." No, I'm not hiring a crew that I would need to supervise to make sure they stay on task.
